Makubex's Chibi Thread
« on: 2009-08-11 00:48:24 »
Since I am utterly starting over, I thought it would be appropriate to start a new thread.

Well i put a lot of work into my new chibi.....
Of course it is only cloud again.
And yes.. this is just the battle model...
obtained from the PRP (NPC RP) mod.

I have worked on the arms and shoulders and the eyes.. so please only give feed back on those parts for now.
Thanks.
I know i messed up on the hands.. i will try to fix this later.

I used a reference made by APZ Freak

its the KH Cloud.. Chibi

original work done here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8779.0

please leave feed back here,
Thanks.

I actually like the way he looks right NOW, i think it would look cool if a model like this could be used in place of cloud during his recovery in mideel

Looks great

It's not just Cloud... it's Dark Cloud!  Wait... doesn't that make him... Cloud of Darkness?

If Kimera supported Vertex editing..
i wouldn't even have to take the model into MAX..

So at the moment.. i am not sure how to get it into game.
PCreator isn't being nice to me..
and yeah..

-.-

I sized it to the original

or tried to
xD

What's your problem with PCreator?  Send me the model you're having trouble with and I'll see what I can do.

It's rare to get a clean cut.  That's when you have to start creating new polygons so it will look normal once reassembled

I never tried doing it in Kimera, but Max works great for me, and allows me to edit the UV's while I'm there

Well....

I call this piece of art

All Cut Up..
it does look rather painful

*feels like a butcher*

well anyways..
i got it working in PCreator..
but...

when i put the p.file in kimera..

this happened.

 :-( :-( :-(

I don't know why..
:(
the head is like invisible..cause it shows up when i double click on it.

That grid that is in MAX, you will want to make sure all of the different body parts are close to it (preferably on/in it)when you save them.

If you don't, whenever you import your new .p file it will be VERY far away.

Not positive that is your problem though

I think i am going to give up for now...
-.-

I am going to move on to the next model.
If anyone wants to play with it..

here are the 3DS. Files of the whole cloud... and the cut up cloud... and the only texture it has.

I am going to attempt to chibify Aeris/th next.

I had a look at it and managed to get a white head into Kimera.  I think the problem is when exporting from MAX, it doesn't preserve all those baked on colors.  I also noticed the UV map on the head was completely off as well, but even after changing that, PCreator still gave me an unhandled exception when trying to open the bitmap no matter if I imported the uvws or not.

Not really sure what to tell you on this one.  You may have to try and do all your work in Kimera.  The P editor portion of it does have a lot of nifty features.  Explore around it a bit

I find it difficult to work in kimera,
it lacks the finer freedoms you get in MAX..
I know this is contradicting what i said when i first started this project,
but i find being able to edit one vertex at a time to be quite miserable.
-.-

That is all i have been able to figure out to do in kimera...
hopefully i can figure out more in a short time..
or i might just mess with the 3D models for fun in MAX..
and release them here..
and who ever wants to re-texture/ fix the UVs can..

hahah.
For i am only learning...
or i would do it myself.

I figured out how to use verteces editing in Kimera.. its a bit difficult to do on the arms.. to chibify them..
but i had success on the face..

AND OMG!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!
Cloud is smiling!?????

(a very crappy smile.. but still a smile.. my work is so amazing... he gave me a smile.)
:D

(right Makubex.... keep telling your self that..:P)
(realizes how lame i am)

Actually after a little experimentation..
the vertex editing isn't so hard..
what do you guys think of my W.I.P

i only did the left (his right) arm.

OH i also did the face

I have to say.. this is much easier in MAX..
but i can't complain.

hey its your cloud haha nice looking! hmmm i think the left arm's too thin hehehe..might be better if you could just mirror the right arm and save it as the left arm so they stay symmetrical..and then just at the shoulder pad to the bone of the left arm..i hope you get what im saying cause ithink it would be better looking if you diid that! hehehehe
