This is a very good question for DLPB and PitBrat, but not towards me.

Troubleshooting / Re: mod install
« on: 2012-04-08 21:08:26 »
Thanks for the Registry output.

Aali's driver is not configured correctly => "DriverPath"=""

  • Run FF7Config.exe as Administrator
    ( Hint: right-click FF7Config.exe => Run as Administrator )

  • Graphics: Renderer = Custom driver

  • Sound: select Sound Driver
                => Test Center/Left/Right

  • MIDI:MIDI Driver=Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
            MIDI Data  =General MIDI

            => Test
                 => Min./Max. Volume Test
                      => Logarithmic Volume Control on/off

  • Result

You can try it but it is not supported by anyone yet.

Any files altered with past revisions should be replaced with originals.  It is recommended to install this project last.  After a first install, repeat installs should work fine.

Only PitBrat can bind M005 correctly into the Bootleg installer.
The newest version 0038 is WIP.
Please don't ask me when it is done.

  • Yes, all of them.

Releases / Re: [REL] Menu Overhaul Project
« on: 2012-04-08 19:20:16 »
@DLPB: Is M005 full compatible with Bootleg 0037 ?

57
Sorry, my fault.
( There are too many options and every user wants a different one  :o )

You must bite in the bad apple and disable the complete Menu Overhaul in Game Options.
   => Menu Overhaul + Style Switcher + Colorized Items

58
Thanks. I want to be sure that all files are OK.

59
TestFiles.exe: Select all lines and post them using the # button => [ code ] ... [ /code ]

Read the displayed text box :  BFE.exe :  Game Options: Menu Overhaul:Style Switcher

Quote
Also in my Bootleg0037 Folder, should I delete the LastUsed.bp and the BFE.ini? Or maybe I should just delete my Bootleg0037 folder and unzip the Bootleg0037.zip?

Don't delete anything. Don't touch it.

60
Absolutely right.   ;D

You have selected the right option in BFE :  Game Options: Menu Overhaul:Style Switcher

Read this posting for more informations :  Menu Overhaul Project

Please read the PM i have send to you.

@realmain: You have more than one big problem.

  • Forget your installation => delete C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\*.*

  • To prevent privilege errors install FF7 to this Location :  C:\Games\FF7

    Hint :  Final Fantasy 7, english, Maximum Install

  • Download FF7Music from this MediaFire folder :  FF7Music Installer (Covarr)

    You must extract the .EXE in the RAR-archive so that BFE can find the file !

    Hint :  FF7Music 1.51.13 is not supported in Bootleg 0037

  • Download M004 :  M004d.exe

    Hint :  M005 is not supported in Bootleg 0037

    Quote
    Also, since the break_9999limit = no, would the Break 9999 Limit work if I installed Menu with Break-9999HP Limit patch in M004d.exe? Because I forgot to check it while installing.

    You had the graphic problem because you installed M004 and selected the Break-9999HP
    Limit patch
    and you set break_9999limit = yes in ff7_opengl.cfg . Use only the option in M004 !

    Quote
    I also just realized that my M004d.exe is really M004c.exe

    It is a simple typo or better said DLPB has forgotten to change it.   ;)

  • Test all your downloaded files => TestFiles.exe  (Automatic)

  • Bootleg options:

    • don't select Game options: Battle Scenes as PNG and
                                                  Battle Scenes as LGP

      Hint :  Select only the PNG version and read the displayed info text.

    • To prevent privilege errors use these Locations :

         Destination Location  :  C:\Games\FF7

         Mod Source                :  C:\Bootleg\Mods

         Bootleg.exe Location :  C:\Bootleg

         Temporary Files         :  C:\Bootleg\Temp

General Discussion / Re: Moving FF7 to New Computer
« on: 2012-04-08 13:22:59 »
Hi Kompass63,

the FF7app.exe key is unnecessary because the file does not exist.

Example :  You want to run C:\Dummy\Test.exe by using Windows-Key + R
                  but you want to write only  Test

Code: [Select]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Test.exe]
@="C:\\Dummy\\Test.exe"
"Path"="C:\\Dummy"

General Discussion / Re: Moving FF7 to New Computer

Hi realmain,

it is possible to move your installation to another computer without re-installation.

Example :

   C:  =  the system partition
   D:  =  the drive where you installed FF7  ( e.g. D:\Games\FF7 )

   F:   = your CD drive

   X:  =  your external drive ( has the same letter on your other computer ! )

  • Copy D:\Games\FF7\*.*  to  X:\Games\FF7

  • Execute this command as Administrator :
    ( Hint :  Press the Windows-Key + R )

    Windows 32-bit :
      regedit.exe /e  X:\Games\FF7-backup.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc."

    Windows 64-bit :
      regedit.exe /e  X:\Games\FF7-backup.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc."

  • Open X:\Games\FF7-backup.reg with any text editor (Notepad, ...)
    and alter these parameters :

    "DataDrive"="F:\\"   <= the CD drive on your other computer

    "AppPath"="X:\\Games\\FF7\\"

    "DataPath"="X:\\Games\\FF7\\Data\\"

    "MoviePath"="X:\\Games\\FF7\\movies\\"

  • Move the external drive to your other computer and execute
    X:\Games\FF7-backup.reg as Administrator.

  • It's playtime !   :D

Try this if the game does not start :
  • right-click X:\Games\ff7.exe  => Properties

  • Compatibility-Tab

  • Modus = Windows 98  or  Windows XP

66
Hi realmain,

you can give Cloud a name later in the game.   ;)

Graphic problem

Open ff7_opengl.cfg with any text editor (Notepad, ...)
and alter this parameter:

   break_9999limit = no

Sound problem
  • Run FF7Config.exe as Administrator
    ( Hint: right-click FF7Config.exe => Run as Administrator )

  • Graphics: Renderer = Custom driver

  • Sound: select Sound Driver
                => Test Center/Left/Right

  • MIDI:MIDI Driver=Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
            MIDI Data  =General MIDI

            => Test
                 => Min./Max. Volume Test
                      => Logarithmic Volume Control on/off

  • Result

Open ff7_opengl.cfg with any text editor (Notepad, ...)
and remove the # from this line :

#music_plugin = plugins/ff7music.fgp

Run .\FF7Music\FF7Music.exe as Administrator and compare your setup with my screenshots:

67
Hi Zulli85,

try this MediaFire folder :  FF7Music Installer (Covarr)

You must extract the .EXE in the RAR-archive so that BFE can find the file !

@MnM: I have send you a PM with further informations.

MPAA Targets 5 File Hosting Services, Backup Your Data Now

The file hosting service Megaupload has been shut down about two months ago, and while a lot of things surrounding that case have still not be resolved, the MPAA are already looking at additional targets in the file hosting world.

Cnet ran a piece yesterday on a panel discussion at the On Copyright conference where Alfred Perry, vice president for worldwide content protection at Paramount Pictures, listed five additional file hosting sites as targets for upcoming action.

The top five cyberlockers are Wupload, Depositfiles, Fileserver, Mediafire and PutLocker, according to Perry who calls them rogue cyberlockers and mentions that they generate 41 billion page views yearly. Perry apparently did not mention if those sites were already under investigation by the authorities. Mediafire co-founder responded to the comments brought forth by Perry one day later, stating that Mediafire was no rogue website, and not run by criminals.

As with Megaupload, it is likely that users of the services won’t receive advanced notification if the domains, servers and assets are seized by authorities. It is therefor recommended to create backup of files that are hosted at these file hosters, and others if you want to be 100% certain that you do not lose any files in raids. Especially so since no distinction is being made between perfectly legal files hosted on those sites, and files without proper rights that were uploaded for sharing.

Mirroring the files could be a solution especially if you do not have enough local storage space available to backup the data properly. It would on the other hand mean that you continue to rely 100% on online file hosting solutions, which could still be an issue if all selected file hosts are taken down at the same time.

Another solution would be to use services like Dropbox, Microsoft SkyDrive, or the soon to be released Google Drive as a safe backup location.

@kazu: Do you start Black Chocobo as Administrator ?

             Hint :  right click the EXE file => Run as Administrator

It seems that Aali's server is down.   :o

   ff7_opengl-0.7.11b.zip

   ff7_opengl-0.7.10b.zip
   ff7_opengl-0.7.9b.zip
   ff7_opengl-0.7.9b-nolight_shaders.zip
   ff7_opengl-0.7.8b.zip
   ff7_opengl-0.7.7b.zip
   ff7_opengl-0.7.6b.zip

FIX :  Everything is made of light  (FF7 + FF8)

ff7_opengl.cfg :  use_shaders = yes

Download these files and copy them to .\shaders\nolightmain.frag   main.vert
(overwrite? => YES)
