Hi, everyone,
i'm writing a lzs-compression algorithm for Highwind at the moment, but there just a simple thing i couldnt figure out until now.
I mentioned this in my Highwind-Thread, but apparently noone who knows an answer read it, so i'll ask it here once more ;)
By the way, my lzs-Decompression is working fine and included in Highwind.

The problem is: (My instruction was from the qhimm-wiki page for lzs-compression where i have the variable names from)
When decoding the lzs-Files i get the real_offset with this formula: real_offset = tail - ((tail - 18 - raw_offset) mod 4096)
But how do i reverse that when compressing, i've got the real_offset and want to get the raw_offset?

Maybe someone knows the answer because thats the only wrong thing in my algorithm, i've checked the compressed files.
I would be happy if you could help me,
Christian

Hi, first off, heres my system config:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2,4GHz
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 640MB
2GB RAM

And here's my problem:
In-game, most of the textures are black. Not every texture, but many. I see this in menu, battle and field (havent got a save to test in world map at the time).
And here are some screenshots: Link.
Maybe someone could help me with that, because it looks really ugly   :-o

Thanks in Advance, Christian

PS: Im playing with the german game, the english 1.02 patch, and the saints high-res patch. (I have renamed the _gm and -ge files to _us/-us)
I've checked the Nvidia/TNT Fix checkbox and 640x480 direct3d.

Hy guys,
i have been working on a little program to view and edit the lgp-files (like LGP-Tools from ficedula) in .net. I have done the open-part (thanks to the wiki), but when saving the file there is a problem. I have used help of the wiki and made a method to save the lgp-file i opened/edited to the file but when i f.i. open & immediately save the menu-lgp and then run ff7, there are errors that ff7 cant read the files in the archives, even if my created file looks the same as the original file. The errors in App.log look like this:
Code: [Select]
OFFSET ERROR: usfont_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT OPEN FILE usfont_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE usfont_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE usfont_a_l.tim
OFFSET ERROR: usfont_b_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT OPEN FILE usfont_b_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE usfont_b_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE usfont_b_l.tim
OFFSET ERROR: btl_win_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT OPEN FILE btl_win_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE btl_win_a_l.TEX
ERROR: COULD NOT LOAD TEXTURE DATA FILE btl_win_a_l.tim
OFFSET ERROR: btl_win_a_l.TEX
...
...
But when i open the archives with my program or ficedulas lgp-tools, i see that the files are in the archives, the archives have even the same file size.
Could someone maybe tell me what problem i have if they know?

Thanks for all help,
Chris

Archive / Problem with FF7: Black Screen after start
« on: 2007-01-08 10:10:35 »
I used to be able to play FF7, i played with NPCRC; highres and much other patches.
One day, i wanted to play but when i opened FF7 i just saw a black screen. I can't ALT-TAB, ALT-F4 or CTRL-ALT-DEL out of the game, which normally should work. I tried reinstalling and using some patches, but nothing helped.
Is this a known problem, and if yes, please help me how to solve it
Thanks for all help!

HI!

I've got a question:
Is there a program to extract/view sound files from FF7? I think the could be stored in audio.dat.

If yes, please give me a link to the program!

« on: 2005-12-01 14:13:18 »
To summary all things 'bout this, post all what could help to enhance the (not very good lokkin'...:weep: ) backgrounds of FF7.

Do our admins and programmers know any way how this would work?
