Thrice is a word. And this guy also did post the same message in the "setupx.dll" thread, or whetever it is, in "General". I don't think he means to annoy us. I think he wants to do things that we're suggesting _his_ way.

And in the song, I believe they say... "Cephiros", and not Sephiroth.

Archive / Soundfont handling in FF7pc
« on: 2002-12-16 06:13:40 »
I'm just wondering...Since FF7 comes with 4 soundfonts, and all 4 are used evenly through all 90 or so songs, is it possible to change which song uses what soundfont? With that said, is it possible to add new soundfonts to the ones that are used for use with new/improved songs? I'm thinking of soundfonts for each song, or at least a greater variety to make it closer to OST. Has this been discovered yet, or am I re-rambling about something that has already been explained?

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / BS-ed by windows
« on: 2002-11-01 06:53:17 »
I recently purchased a new video card. It is a Nvidia Geforce 2 MX400. I was very concerned with the heat that it generates because the dang thing only came with a heatsink. So, I decided to place a large case fan next to it to cool it off because I don't have any extra chipset fans. The fan does not have a motherboard fan plug-in for power; it has a 4-pin plug (the ones that are in the power supply). So, I place it appropriately and fire up my machine. Everything is okay until the windows 98 loading screen appears. In the middle of loading windows, the blue scrolling bar STOPS...it's completely locked up. The system is as dead as a rabbit in a mine field. But.... get this:

I say "screw the logo", and formulate another plan. I press f8 before windows starts its logo and I choose to load from a command prompt. I then load windows from there..and *WHAMMO* it works. My video card is a tiny bit cooler than before.

But the question is.. why wouldn't it get past the logo? Anyone got any ideas?

General Discussion / I need some ff7 aid
« on: 2002-10-10 09:32:46 »
Not so long ago, I posted that my dog ripped up my ff7 installation cd. Whether you believe me or not, I beg of someone a favor. I need a copy of the yamaha xg synthesizer driver which was included on the disc. If you need proof of my previous ownage I will gladly provide a picture of myself with the three remaining discs inside the case. However, at this time I only have one of the discs because my friend is borrowing the case containing two of the discs. If you are willing to wait a bit for the picture, then it will take a week or so.

All I am asking for is the synthesizer driver, nothing more. Whether you think I'm trying to con you into a piracy scam, please just recognize that I'm just asking for help.

General Discussion / Unfortunate accident: help me!
« on: 2002-08-13 20:16:58 »
:weep:

Last night was when it happened. I was putting my new hard drive in my computer when I heard the sound of cracking and rustling. My door was closed, so I was blinded to what horrific event was happening down the hall. I swung open the door to find my dog chewing up the last shards of my Final Fantasy VII Platinum Edition installation disc. I cried out "Why, oh dear Dog why??? What horrible sin have I conjured to deserve this?" then spanked the puppy square on the rump. I fell knees-first to the floor and wept over the last remains of my sanity.

Anyways.. is there any way that someone has a burnable ISO of that cd? If not, I'd just settle for the original ff7.exe that came with the game. I'm quite angry that I lost that cd..considering that they do not even sell that version where I live. It was pure luck that I found my copy of FF7PE in a gas station while I was on vacation for $15.00.

Archive / PC FF music - how it should have been done
« on: 2002-08-12 14:01:15 »
Instead of using the soundfont system for FF7 PC, they should have made .XM or .IT files for the music. There would have been better compatability and quality in the music for these PC versions of the FF series. First off, the soundfonts included with FF7 could have been a lot better. Back when FF7 came out, there were several computer owners who did not have an AWE32/64. The music and graphics are a large component to what makes these games good. It was a bad idea for Eidos to use the soundfonts the way they did. Hell, even if they used MP2s, Mods, or WAV files, several people would be happier with their version of FF7.

If anyone makes any FF7 or FF8 ports, use .IT or .XM files to ensure the best possible music for the Final Fantasy experience.
