Data offsets are mostly intact.

dziugo

So you're saying most, if not all, of the 1.02 MemHack offsets would work when the hi-res game patch is applied?
Changing the offsets would be just crazy... And TheSaiNt doesn't look like a freak to me. He uses some of the offsets to store values (consts actually) but that's it. So (IMHO) it should work as you were running the original 1.02 ff7.exe

The Alt+Tab is confirmed to f-up battles.
Sometimes... I wish I had "that" version of ff7 :P. It crashed on me only once, and never happened again. Oh, and the "crashing feature" can be disabled - search for battle-swirl crash.

The project? Mostly.
The thread? No.

Now that Q-Gears is in development, there probably won't be much work on things such as this or other engine-improvements. All that's really left is things like NPC Reconstruction.

Q-gears is basicaly going to be a multi-platform game engine which can use ff7's files.  In that respect, intsead of editing and mucking with ff7's code, the people working on this can make a game with a more modern graphic system so we can select our own resolution settings, i guess.  And since it will run with ff7's data, well... then you could -essentially- play ff7 at 1024 by 768 or w/e.  At least, that's as near as I can tell.

Look it up in the tech-related section.

The project isn't necessarily dead. There just isn't much left to do. And, if you'd look at the first post, there's a potential fix so that multi-language .exes can use the patch (although your menu will still be in English, or something like that).

Just a confirmation, the project isn't exactly dead.
The patch is mostly complete, and most of the problems are small annoyances really which require a huge effort on my part to fix.
Just don't have much free time to fix problems as of late.

The_Saint, didnt you say in your first post here you have made a patch that filters the backgrounds? there was a picture with filtered BGs and some strange pink things behind foregrounds...Could you make a patch that does this cause i liked it.

Hello all, just found the site and checking out the High-Res patch made me hunt all day long for my FF7 Discs and against all odds i actually found them (Hurrah!!)

Watching FF7 AC just made me want to play it even more ;)

Anyway's, Saint, you have done some fantastic work, and what a great idea! I just have one question.

GFX Card is a Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition

I installed the game from my Discs, applied the 1.02 patch and then applied the high res patch. As far as i can tell the resolution has been upped and to my eye it looks like the FSAA is also on (im assuming i had to go into CCC and change FSAA and AF from application pref to always on at FSAA 6 AF 16 ) I can't quite tell about the AA though, dunno if it's just the resolution difference coming through.

The main question however is has anyone managed to find a way to get this patch working with ATI cards properly? I.E. getting rid of the grid. ( i know the patch is mainly for nvidia users ) butIf so i would be very greatful as to find out how :)

Thanks in advance for any reply's and to everyone releasing patches, keep up the good work, theres allot of gamers out here appreciating what you guys do!!

I apologise as i thought the above was a FF8 only fix as i do not know the details of the FF series game engine and did not realise this would work for both,  however if you are saying this will work for FF7 then i will try it now, thank you.

*edit*

Thanks for the reply, I followed the instructions to a T with Alternate Pixel Center turned on and all FSAA and AF options on and turned right up and i still have the gridlines all over. Any additional help would be appreciated, thanks.

IIRC, FSAA should be OFF. At least, on most cards.

Thanks for the reply, So im assuming the Saint high res patch should take care of the ingame AA n AF then? Otherwise turning them off there will stop any AA being shown at all and this is what im after.

*edit* Well, i tried setting them down to the bottom, ticking and unticking "let the application decided" still nothing. Tried pretty much every option in there, including the one stated in the FF8 fix for it, all to no avail. Still have the grids.  :? Thank's for the input, any other ideas guys?

Just my luck, the patch refuses to work no matter what I do. Even attempted 3 clean installs.

CURSES!

Wrong file size, could the fact that I'm running it from Daemon Tools be a problem?
