Who here has doubts about FF:AC & FF:DC?
« on: 2004-09-28 08:55:10 »
Like the title says. I'm not really interested in typing alot, but. Alot of FFVII fans including myself were looking for a sequal, but to be honest I really don't know what to think about the screenshots for both of them. Something is missing ...

What really made FFVII my favourite game was the plot, I don't know about anyone else but I've heard nothing about the plot of either of these.

Anyone have their doubts and think that these could possibly ruin FFVII legacy? -_-

Advent Children I have no doubts on. It looks great, and it sounds like a legitamet (sp?) plot. The game however, just looks and sounds the opposite.

Well it looks good, whats it about though. I haven't seen anything about the plot except for that square hasn't released it.

There has been a ton of hints on the plot, and several parts revealed. If you really longe for checking it out there are several preview-movie (from the Venice Film Festival, the 30min one) reports floating on the net. On DC though we cannot say anything so far.

The golden rule of thumb: If you're going to make a kick ass movie, you're going to need a dumb ass game to go along with it, and vice versa. Check:

Mortal Kombat
Super Mario Brothers
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
Catwoman
Batman

Even though there have been alot of good games based on movie titles like KOTOR, there are still alot of stinkers...

I LOVED Catwoman!

All jokes aside...

You get the general feel of it. If it really offends people that much, I'll change it, but either way, it didnt contribute to society at all, which is why I put it in there.

I feel AC will be good but... there are some things I can't get over. GunBlades: Why? They have nothing to do with FF7. They were created for FF8, not FF7. To me, mixing FF games is sort of an  "ultimate sin" :weep: . Face it. It's just sloppy work! "Realistic" Sephiroth : His hair is just ...so... ...flat! In the game, he looked like the man that could take over the world! Now, he looks like someone living in a ditch (or using too much conditioner?). Then there’s the eyes and mouth thing. Seen that picture of Sephiroth, smirking, with his head down? I think they used "The Crow" as a reference pic for that. At least "The Crow" didn't look like a... {place insult here}. Apparently, in the effort to make his character more realistic, they lost all facial characteristics I associate with Sephiroth. (Save for long hair.)
Is your hair thinning? Call the "Septh Hotline" today!
Cloud's hair, I can respect. Doesn't look 'great', but it does look like they at least paid special attention to the original style.

Let’s see... everything else, I like. Many characters didn't tern out how I imagined (in the game, I thought Cid had very short hair) but that's no problem. Now, I can't wait to finally hear them!

All in all, I think the movie is going to be a half-assed story, that isn't that bad (if there is such a thing) in the end, finally concluding the original story, and leaves an opening for DC.

---

Now, "DC"...
The screenshots look awesome! I hope more of Vincent's back-story comes up in this game. Don't really care what kind of game it is. If the game takes 40+ hours to complete, I'll be a very happy camper.

The only worry I have is "guest shots" of other characters. "Lame" would be: Vincent has Cloud help him for a little while, only to have Cloud leave for the rest of the game.

Other then that, I'm really looking forward to it.

Many things posted by you are terms of taste, but the gunblades? Where do you see gunblades? Yazoo uses a gun. It has a shape that allows to block a sword, nothing more.

odo324 I do agree with you alot, that's one of my main concerns about that movie. Maybe they tried not to make them look like the game, regardless they made Tifa look awesome so she defiantly compensates for all of that. In FFVII I personally liked Yuffie, it's a shame that she isn't more attractive then they could have made her(even marline it cuter, lol).
I read some of the plot, or at least what someone saw. It seems kind of flukey, but I'll watch the movie anyway. (I wonder when it will be in Toronto) >.>

But yeah, plot wise. There is only hints, "Hey how about we tell them nothing about the movie,

As opposed to "Hey, lets tell them EVERY single little thing about it so they'll get all excited but will already know everything about it!"

I think in Ged's other thread and on AdventChildren.net that theres some sort of infectionous disease spreading around (Geo-Stigma, I believe?) that is infecting the children, or something close to it. Dont quote me on it, but Im pretty sure its on that site or in his thread.

As for the characters in the movie and in the game...I wouldnt complain. I for one do not find the dumbell-arm look attractive. I think most of the characters are alright. Its nice to see Cloud with normal hair (Err..sort of). I dont understand how Sephiroth can be examined since Sephiroth has only been seen for about 5 seconds, the infamous fire scene. Unless the real one shows up again in the TGS2004 trailer (which I havent gotten around too yet), him and his hair looked fine. I dont see any difference between the game one and the movie one, besides the fact he has an actual nose, eyes, and mouth this time around.

That game though..>_>

Im usually good about pointing out the stinkers before they hit. I managed to hit Enter the Matrix, Conflict: Desert Storm, Shellshock:Nam '67, The Sims Online, and a few other over-hyped stinkers right on the head. Im not too sure about this one either.

I acually read the AC thread and it has a link to some plot hints that I semi-read. I kind of skimmed them fast so my brain wouldn't absorb them. lol

I personally expected clouds and sephiroths hair to look similar to the game, and have less of a force of gravity on them. :P

Cloud's hair isnt that different from the game, its just shrunk down a bit. And Sephiroth's hair looks just like it did in the game, so its kind if simuilar I suppose.

Game: http://theepok.free.fr/IMG/ff7/images/sephiroth.jpg
Movie: http://membres.lycos.fr/uchunoalda/gif/sephiroth.jpg
Reasonably it is the same, except for the front parts which stuck up as opposed to flopped down.

Consider thats a concept drawing, or some kind of official art, not an ingame version of him. If anything, I like the new Sephiroth in that picture, he looks a little more darker and sorrowful.

That may be very true, I would infact picture Sephiroth like that. Acually to be more specific I would picture him being like that after the whole Shinra mansion thing.  Disregarding his body, his face to me is more feminine then it was in the game (or atleast his usual pictures). :P

In that concept art, he looks more of a rugged bad ass. In the movie one, he has a much more softer feel to his face, but at the same time, it makes him look even more crazier I think. He looks like he just killed someone, and hasnt even thought twice of it, compared to that art where he looks like any ordinary loud-mouthed punk.

I prefer the cold, silent serial killer-like face over the one in the art personally.

Here's a quick photoshop edit I did. :)

Okay, maybe there is something about hair covering the face that makes them look badass. :P
