NOTICE -- NEW FORUMS

These forums are a bit temporary, I've still to work out a design for the board. I hope it will prove sufficient for a while, at least.

What's there from the original forums?
- All user records, you log in with your normal user/password.
- All posts up until two days ago. Any posts later than that, tough luck.
- Proper authorizations for the private forums

What's not there?
- The design
- User ranks
- Email notification can be a bit buggy (and certainly not pretty). Have faith.

Also note that you can't log in directly to the private forums (I have no idea why this doesn't work, but it only produces garbage). You need to log in to the board first, then enter the private forum like normal.

Soo, can I report here bugs I found ? Here goes:
there is a icon 'send a private message', and there is allways 'send a private message to mindjoker' in a tip (that is newest member).
All times of last reply are +5 hours. But that is not a problem.
Users web page link is screwed up. Like to mine is added 'nextff.net'

Yay, I'd rather have a temporary forum than no forum at all. To be honest I wasnt expecting a temporary one until tomorrow, so good work Qhimm.

Qhimm: It's good to know that the design is temporary, but perhaps you could let those avatars exists. It seems like many of use like this option... (I think, it won't slow down the sites too much )

Alhexx: That sounds good. But I think everyone should choose to have a sig or an avatar, so they can't have both. That should keep things at an ok speed.

If we are to keep the avatars, I see I'm going to have to enforce a couple of rules... All avatars *have* to be 60x60 pixels. NO LINKING to external large images, they slow down the board like hell! Also, *try* to pick images that don't stand out too much form the board (they wreak havoc with your sense of reading). Tip: don't spend too much work on avatars and stuff before the new design arrives, ok?

Cool. I'm sure everything'll get sorted eventually.

Note: To someone who can do something about this (Qhimm, SaiNt?), is there a way of turning off the "highlight" that follows the cursor on the topic listing? a) It slows things down, and b) If I shift-click on a link (SHOULD open it in a new window) the DHTML intercepts it and opens it in the original window instead, thus I lose my topic view ... I like to keep that open while browsing thru posts in a new window.

No hurry, but thought I'd mention it

BTW: Avatars *can* slow things down. Currently, I'm on a 56K modem shared between 5 - yes 5 - computers. Yeah. Every KB counts.

On the plus side, I wrote the house an MP3 server this afternoon, so now we can control the house music system from almost every room ^_^

As for the time issue mirex was talking about earlier, you can correct that in for profile. (You can set it for your time, and it interperates all the times and dates accordingly.)

Hey Qhimm: can you increase the character limit for the sigs? 255 doesn't fit my whole sig.
