I am wondering where I can find a list of FF7's field IDs and their the equivalent encounters (battle ID) if they exist.
This is mainly for speed running purposes and routing.

Quick summary of how the speedrun is done: Yuffie warp to pre-kalm flashback and ride bronco to Mt. Nibel to initiate battle mode warping. Then leave to the world map and intentionally run away from a fight (this will set your warp location). Then win any fight. Winning the fight will warp you to the field whose fieldID is equal to the battleID of the battle you most recently escaped from.

In any% we run away from
 3 Spencers, 1 Flapbeat (Gold Saucer Area) to warp to Lobby 5 of the debug room.

Any% No Debug Room we run away from
2 Roots (Junon) to warp to Tifa/Cloud Cutscene at the end of Disc 2.

I've made some speedrun errors and ended up warping to materia caves/Gold Saucer due to running away from the wrong encounters.

I was wondering if there is a tool or a database list to see which field IDs are respective to their battle IDs.
I am very interested in finding a warp point to the story before fighting diamond weapon. Thanks!

  • Fort Condor is still a pain to get back to. Are there any plans to add in a way to reach the mini game expediently? Like via a Fort Condor runner in certain towns?


If Sega made a Fort Condor runner, I'd buy him tickets for a Distant Worlds show and buy him a couple of drinks  :mrgreen:

There is a trick where you can move freely when you talk to the father of the dress shop owner by opening the bathroom door (with the sick lady inside). You can multitask: give the woman medicine and choose the dress options while you are able to move freely.

Does anyone have an explanation of how this works? I keep soft locking the game when I attempt to do it.

Hm I kind of wish I waited to do my NCU challenge until this came out, but too late, hopefully it looks great and runs in 60 fps.  Not to bad of a price too  8-). My favorite game from the trilogy.

So strange, I'll try out the beta too, and ask Paranoid to the same, she's been playing it more of late. She has had similar out of window crashes too, but it was once or twice. I'll report if anything comes up.

Thanks for the replies. When I use wall market to change the battle text, it doesn't appear to change. For example I try to change "Game Over" to"Uggh",
but it changes back to "game over". Do I have to take an extra step?

*Edit* Sorry I figured it out, I need to save both kernels. Thanks again, I was able to solve both these problems.

I was seeing what tools/methods are used to do a couple things:
How do you remove a game over flag, so that a game continues despite loosing a battle? Secondly, how can you edit/add dialogue during battle? For example, edit the game over message into something else.

I think you're going to see the use of power soul dissipate entering disc 2. You'll find more equipment with interesting effects as you go along. The difficulty certainly spikes up, and I found myself switching different equipment/materia combinations  a lot. But that's just me 8-)

Those youtube videos that I uploaded were from the older version 1.1, that's why my party had tons of HP until Sega put in the curve. Sounds like you made awesome progress :> . If you have the hero medal(s) in your inventory, you should be able to save right after the Safer boss fight, that's when you know you triggered the "ending".

Quadra magic: You're talking about Vorpar, Javy, Dones? You're supposed to cast regen on the two crewman.
It's possible that megaflare has a shout element attached to it, did you have some kind of equipment to protect against shout :P, just a possibility  :roll:
