Screen tearing while walking around

i've been using 7th heaven for a while now and it's been great, i thought it would be quicker for me to start it up if i put the exe file on my desktop instead of being in the 7th heaven file. but when i tried to open it like this i got a load of error messages so i put the .exe file back, and now whenever i open the game i get a lot of screen tearing when i'm moving about outside of battle (mainly when the camera has to move). do i need to reinstall 7th heaven again
