Ok , Not to sure whether to post this in the tech form or the PAtches Forum , So i posted in both.

Moderators - Please feel free to delete a post if it violates any rules.

Heres a rundown Of specs before we get down to the nitty gritty

CPU + Mobo - AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual - Core Processor 4200+
RAM - 2gb OZC Gaming Ram 2*1gb Sticks + 4ghz Corsair Ram 2*2gb Sticks 6gb Total
Ethernet - NForce Chipset
GFX - ATI X1650 Pro Sapphire - www.sapphiretech.co.uk
OS - Windows Vista Ultimate - SP2 X64

Anything else i can Post freely although i know for a fact the specs will run the game smoothly due to the age of the game and the fact running it as 1.2 Version And Original 1.0 Version run smooth as silk. Not one problem.

Anyway , Im wanting to make the most of the 8 Bit textures and im not sure how to go about this. I was deeming the 1.31 Launcher to be a success to maximising the looks and texture and giving my screen a little bit more 'Flavour'. BUT this came to no avail. Instead i get a nasty error report saying ** Image coming in a mo **

Ok , It looks as though after the read-me , I have to change the Command line , Now this is where i faulter , Do i need to edit it via REGEDIT. If so this my prove to be a problem , As its on my Second Vista Ultimate Boot / Drive. I have all Programs instlled onto my 250gb HDD , And All media on my 750gb HDD. The 750 Is my C:\ and the 250 is my D:\ . So what im looking for is basically guidance on how to edit this , securely and safely.

but I think it's not the same. The launcher I want enables you to play FF8 on Hardware 3D without the black boxes

Or use Aali's driver, does pretty much the same thing.

Hi mikeerfol

Do you have install the 1.2 patch in the same language as your FF8 and suitable for your graphics card?

Hi mikeerfol

I can use the FF8 Launcher v1.31 with these settings.

This looks to me like this.

But I use the patch 1.2 Non Geforce German.
Do you have the US or the UK version?
Maybe you could try the non Geforce patch? (look here)

Hi mikeerfol

First, please tell us how you got the problem solved now. Others can learn from it.

For your next problem a picture would have been helpful.
But I think that has to do with the settings of your graphics card driver.
Since I have an AMD graphics card, I can not help you much.
Try some filtering of the video card (especially for FF8) to turn off., eg Anti-aliasing.

Silly me, I forgot that I had put the option "Software Renderer" in FF8Config. I switched to Direct3D Hardware and the graphics are fine. About the other problem looks like it's solved now, but I didn't do anything.

not yet, one last issue to be solved. Everytime before a boss, when the screen freezes and then fades away, it zooms automatically. But when the battle begins, it's ok again.

Hi mikeerfol

I have difficulties to imagine. Can you make a picture of it?
This happens even if you are not using FF8 launcher?

For example in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONmPsPLaGoE when the effect  in 0:43 untill 0:46 happens to me, the screen zooms in one point (for example it zooms on Squall).    And yeah, it happens only when I launch FF8 from the FF8 launcher.

EDIT: And, one more question. Using MotioninJoy, I managed to connect a PS3 controller into my PC using a USB cable and when I started playing FF8, I realised the controller sensitivity was WAY too high. How can I reduce it?

I do not have this problem. It is possible that your PC is not fast enough (hard drive or graphics card too slow)
Maybe you could use "Aalis custom driver" instead "FF8 Launcher", please not both together.
If you "Aalis custom driver" wanted to disable it again, you must go into your [game folder] rename the file "eax.dll".

With your PS3controller I can not help you, I have a normal PC gamepad (works great).

Way too high in what way? As in, the analog sticks go from walk to run too quickly? The buttons activate when you haven't pushed them all the way down? (Damn you Sony for making all your buttons analog).

FF8 has no way to change this. Since I'm not at home I can't check myself, but if there's a fix for this it'll be in MotioninJoy's settings, not ff8.
