Looking great!!!

Have you tried a 'cartoonizer' filter on top of the 3D models?, to look more like 'cards'?

Looking forward for it's release!!!

Hi, as I've WRONGLY placed this in the wrong topic (Tripod instead of this and for the 2013 version and not the Remastered one) I'm sharing this too for your reference @casquall ...

Obviously I'm no pro with this as I don't know how to use upscaling and AI stuff; instead, I just used bigjpg.com (4x, Low noise reduction) along with the card images I found here and got this results ... took me 1 min for both cards

Not bad at all in my humble opinion ... with the proper knowledge on removing backgrounds and the boders/icons/numbers already present on this thread this could be a cool mod and NEARLY 100% faithful to the original PS1 cards  :)

EDIT: My bad, just realized this is not a Remastered topic but the Original one LOL ... switching to [FF8-R:Steam] Triple Triad Remaster

Posted this on the Tripod topic but think it'll be more useful here

I'll just copy paste ...

(...) is there a way of having the ORIGINAL PS1 CARDS to be upscaled and placed on this game, maybe you guys are already doing this but still, I can't stand the 3D models on the cards ... dunno why ...

Maybe the original ones can be found somewhere and get the background removed and upscaled (as the .zzz archives uses PNG images for cards) ...

Found this ... might be of help ...

https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VIII_Triple_Triad_cards

That's what I'm refering to, having this classic pictures updated/upscaled and with the shown borders/numbers/icons on the previous pages ... also, erasing it's background should not be so hard as it's "nearly" a plain color (no strange pictures to mess with the background remover tool)

Am I the only one willing for sth like this to exist? :P

I cannot be the only one hehe

Let me bump this thread with a question, is there a way of having the ORIGINAL PS1 CARDS to be upscaled and placed on this game, maybe you guys are already doing this but still, I can't stand the 3D models on the cards ... dunno why ...

They are mostly using the same uniform, right? Still a lot of detail work after pasting to clean up the edges and re-drawing the hair and face for any that don't have an upgraded 3D model somewhere to copy -- if we don't want a garden of clones, that is.

Of course anything would look better than the jaggy smear-monsters we have right now. How many backgrounds have those baked-in models?

LOL, remember this scene at the battle of gardens?

WAY too much pixels on that one haha

8
^ bad idea makes the games graphics gets really messed up in certain areas dont bother
Might try the height stretch this weekend to see how it goes

Maybe you will be able to modify Squall better according to those face values (eye shape and mouth).
I used to own this particular playstation magazine issue (greek edition). I can't find it anymore though.
It used to come with the demo that had a different battle scene during the galbadia mission.

Project Angelwing v3 is a Gigapixel AI project, so until Ark/Manakaiser finishes their custom field upscale, PA3 will be (in my opinion) the best field upscale available.

RebirthFlame: Remastered v1.1 available NOW!!! (Squall 'fix')
Thanks for the clarification, cant wait then!!

BTW ... is there any way (in case you've looked into it) to 'expand' the game's screen size to fit entirely (up and down but mantaining the 4:3 format)?; obviously mandatory on the sides but I just hate those black bars

11
Once we can insert the images into the Remaster, I'll be working on porting Project Angelwing v3!
Right now, we can't mod the backgrounds, world textures, or battlefields, so those mods are 'on hold' until we can -- BUT -- Maki's making amazing progress!
It would be a good idea of having GUM mod adapted (or maybe Angelwing v3 will be using AI for upscaling too)

Mcindus Mod

Yeah, as you've said it's NEARLY there, a couple of updates and should be done!

13
Squalls FMV mod is now completed! :) HE'S LOOKIN GOOOODDDD!!! We're absolutely sure you'll be satisfied with this lol.
He was improved upon from head to toe!
Oh man ... great news!!! When will it be published?? Any ETA??

14
Well, I guess this one makes quite a good reference.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1865436325

But it still needs a bit modification until it resembles the original...

SE should at least have tried to make him look like that if they needed to modify his appearance according to his real age and make him younger.

Indeed, that one looks REALLY similar ... can't wait to see Mcindus mod!!!

15
@Mcindus may we please have a sneak peak of the actual status of the Squall FMV mod?

16
Eagerly waiting for the final result of Squall FMV mod ... just one random question, IS IT POSSIBLE for the game's screen to be kind of scaled to fit the screen but mantaining proportions? I cannot be the only one freaked out by that up and down black bars ... totally understand the side ones but they could also have done better by placing an image ...

17
I'd love to see the current status of Squall FMV face Mod  :P

I'm just wondering, is there a possibility for this to be ported to the 'remastered' edition?

19
When this is done, it would be my 1st play of FFIX ever, tried a couple of times on PSX but never actually finished it ... looking REALLY forward for it to be released

Again, @hikashi & @casquall ... you guys should team up

Awesome work, for both of you, you should team up guys

BTW, just as I recommended in other topic ... when trying to make cards look like the original one, one of the better ways to do it is by capturing directly from the 3D models by using a model viewer, BUT, why not giving those captures a 'cartoonish' look?. So they'll fit the original one apart from looking more like a real card game, just my opinion.

Looking REALLY forward for this mod to be released!!!

22
Coud you please update the comparison link? Thanks!

23
ZePilot told me he wants to add it, but you can already download it and play with it. Be aware that I only tested the first CD, so it will probably evolve a bit.
Yeah, I agree with the fact that it should be included so there's just 1 unique mod to apply to improve all backgrounds in the game ... again, AWESOME work!

Looking great!!! Are they for the 2013 version or for the 'remaster'?

As al alternative you should put a 'cartoon' filter on top of the 3D models to make them look like actual cards, what do you think?

Really looking forward for this release!!!

25
Awesome work!!

Is it gonna be integrated into Moguri mod or is it gonna be a separate release?
