Title: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Makubex (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-11 00:48:24
Since I am utterly starting over, I thought it would be appropriate to start a new thread.

Well i put a lot of work into my new chibi.....
Of course it is only cloud again.
And yes.. this is just the battle model...
obtained from the PRP (NPC RP) mod.

I have worked on the arms and shoulders and the eyes.. so please only give feed back on those parts for now.
Thanks.
I know i messed up on the hands.. i will try to fix this later.

I used a reference made by APZ Freak

its the KH Cloud.. Chibi

Thanks.

I actually like the way he looks right NOW, i think it would look cool if a model like this could be used in place of cloud during his recovery in mideel

Looks great

It's not just Cloud... it's Dark Cloud!  Wait... doesn't that make him... Cloud of Darkness?

If Kimera supported Vertex editing..
i wouldn't even have to take the model into MAX..

So at the moment.. i am not sure how to get it into game.
PCreator isn't being nice to me..
and yeah..

-.-

I sized it to the original

or tried to
xD

What's your problem with PCreator?  Send me the model you're having trouble with and I'll see what I can do.

I am having trouble cutting it up..
i never get a clean cut..
-.-

It's rare to get a clean cut.  That's when you have to start creating new polygons so it will look normal once reassembled
Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Makubex (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-11 05:24:58
i can do that in kimera right..
??

or do i have to do it in max?
Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: obesebear on 2009-08-11 05:30:32
I never tried doing it in Kimera, but Max works great for me, and allows me to edit the UV's while I'm there

Well....

I call this piece of art

All Cut Up..
it does look rather painful

*feels like a butcher*

well anyways..
i got it working in PCreator..
but...

when i put the p.file in kimera..

this happened.

 :-( :-( :-(

I don't know why..
:(
the head is like invisible..cause it shows up when i double click on it.

That grid that is in MAX, you will want to make sure all of the different body parts are close to it (preferably on/in it)when you save them.

If you don't, whenever you import your new .p file it will be VERY far away.

Not positive that is your problem though
Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Makubex (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-11 06:27:20
I think i am going to give up for now...
-.-

I am going to move on to the next model.
If anyone wants to play with it..

here are the 3DS. Files of the whole cloud... and the cut up cloud... and the only texture it has.

http://www.mediafire.com/?wgzhnwjxzdz

I am going to attempt to chibify Aeris/th next.

Post by: obesebear on 2009-08-11 06:58:35
I had a look at it and managed to get a white head into Kimera.  I think the problem is when exporting from MAX, it doesn't preserve all those baked on colors.  I also noticed the UV map on the head was completely off as well, but even after changing that, PCreator still gave me an unhandled exception when trying to open the bitmap no matter if I imported the uvws or not.

Not really sure what to tell you on this one.  You may have to try and do all your work in Kimera.  The P editor portion of it does have a lot of nifty features.  Explore around it a bit

Post by: Makubex (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-11 07:22:32
I find it difficult to work in kimera,
it lacks the finer freedoms you get in MAX..
I know this is contradicting what i said when i first started this project,
but i find being able to edit one vertex at a time to be quite miserable.
-.-

That is all i have been able to figure out to do in kimera...
hopefully i can figure out more in a short time..
or i might just mess with the 3D models for fun in MAX..
and release them here..
and who ever wants to re-texture/ fix the UVs can..

hahah.
For i am only learning...
or i would do it myself.

i found this funny.
I figured out how to use verteces editing in Kimera.. its a bit difficult to do on the arms.. to chibify them..
but i had success on the face..

AND OMG!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!
Cloud is smiling!?????

(a very crappy smile.. but still a smile.. my work is so amazing... he gave me a smile.)
:D

(right Makubex.... keep telling your self that..:P)
(realizes how lame i am)

Actually after a little experimentation..
the vertex editing isn't so hard..
what do you guys think of my W.I.P

i only did the left (his right) arm.

OH i also did the face

I have to say.. this is much easier in MAX..
but i can't complain.

hey its your cloud haha nice looking! hmmm i think the left arm's too thin hehehe..might be better if you could just mirror the right arm and save it as the left arm so they stay symmetrical..and then just at the shoulder pad to the bone of the left arm..i hope you get what im saying cause ithink it would be better looking if you diid that! hehehehe

Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Kudistos Megistos on 2009-08-11 23:34:58
Hmm, his upper arms look a bit too skinny in comparison to his shoulders. I think that if you even them out a little bit this chibi will be finished.

Punch PCreator in the face as hard as you possibly can for giving you such trouble...

It was also that the UVs were out of whack.

And, I am going to go over my cloud and make him as close as to the one i made before, as i can.

Just...
BETTER

Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Satoh on 2009-08-12 01:35:58
Well it's a decent start, but I think his shoulders are too bulbous right now... they should be a little thinner... more like a sphere I guess...

And his chest and pelvis could shrink a bit. the face needs a little widening... neck shrinkage...

I think it's gonna take a few steps to get it looking like the first one.

Okay.
I am really pissed.

I spent all day working on this:

Only to find it won't work in game...

I split the p. files up, so i could size them better....
-.-

I messed with the verteces...
and that's it.

I have uploaded my chibi:
files here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mwjzjaozoiy

Can some one please take a look at it,
cause i have tried several times...
and i cannot get it in game.
Which is upsetting, cause i spent like 14 hours today, working on it..
-.-

Its one of my first...

sorry, for the venting,
Makubex

P.S.
Thanks in advance to any who decide to look into the problem..

here's a cookie:

Well i figured out my issue.
Thanks to Aali.

Its a bug in kimera... it makes broken p. files.
so i can't do anything, until the next release of kimera.

So, in the mean time, i will keep making models.
:D

Found your problem
(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd138/obesebear/chibicloudproblem.jpg)
I fixed up all your files as well... It was a mess in there.  I probably had to get rid of 6 .rsd files  :-P

Anyways, clearly something is wrong with the model that Kimera won't display.  I tried exporting to .3ds to see if I could fix it.  But the .3ds file is corrupt.

Well, like I said, that's your problem, I'm not sure how you can fix it though...  You could try importing the hip again, save that model, and see if it runs in game.  Then make adjustments...

You had a bunch of useless files in there, so I got rid of them and "optimized" it if you will.
That's what your model looks like in Biturn.  I don't know if that means if his hip has a normal out by his hand or what.  One of the more smarterer guys around here would probably be able to tell you.
Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread
Post by: Makubex (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-12 06:46:52
Well. Since i have no means to fix this. And Aali has told me, that its kimera.
I am going to call it quits for now, and pick this project up again, when I "can"
that means when kimera can properly save my model, or if some other way for me to do this arises.

Well for now, i am going to work on 3D and learn to make custom models.

So, Fare well, for now.
And if you find a way, to fix that model... do not hesitate to tell me.
cause, it has happened to any model that i have split up and altered the verteces to in kimera...
which is what i have to do... if i want the model to look the way i want it to.
XD
Title: Re: Makubex's Chibi Thread

Progress.
Thanks to borde, the model has been fixed.

But, now i am having two issues..
one i can fix easily... cloud is too short... he is like at barrets chest.
xD. (yes, even with his hair spike ... O.O)

and the second issue is,
when the game starts the MP grunts are laying on their backs (and no, not after the avalanche members knock them on their *censored* butts)... and some models in the sums lay on their backs all sprawled out, unless they are walking.
But in some places, it doesn't happen.
O.o

Well anyways:
Here are some screen shots:

look how tiny cloud is.
xD

and you can also see what i mean, the person at the bottom left, she is laying (or he) on the ground.. when preferably, the person i question, ought to be on ones own two feet.
Or am I wong?!
O.O

You didn't edit Cloud's standing animation did you?  Even so, you might want to try putting his original animation from char.lgp into your modded one.

It's just a guess, but it could be that those NPC's use his bone structure and animations, and somehow they were corrupted during your modding...

Glitches aside, I think it looks damn good. Maybe I'm a little biased, but it really does look good.

I'd like to see some remodels on the train guards... (I always loved those little guys... even if they do get pummeled constantly in the game)
