[FF9] Kaotic Hardcore Mod

PPF PATCH 1-26-17 Version 6:

Features:
   Items:
      Elixirs:
         *Named Trance.
         *Only usable in battle - causes trance, no heals.
      Jewels:
         *Now usable in battle as damage items.
         *Damage X-Power * total item count of that jewel.
              *Boost and absorb their element.
         *Added to random syth shops.
      Dark Matter:
         *Moved odin over to ancient aroma.
         *Has powerful abilities but weak to all elements.
      Save the Queen:
         *Usable by Steiner.
         *100 atk
         *Holy based attack
      Ore:
         *More effective status effect tent, has trouble and virus.
         *Boosts and weak to all elements when equipped.
         *buyable in all item shops.
      Remedy:
         *removes all debuffs including virus.
      Pumice:
         *Absorbs all Elements.
         *Boosts all Elements.
         *All Stats +9/+18.
   Characters:
      *New exp curve, takes full 9,999,999 exp to hit level 99
      *Hp Curve is now 50+(level*level) - starting HP based on STR around 10-20HP - HP does max on all chars
      *Mp Curve is now 200+(level*level)/10
      *adjusted MP costs on all spells, stronger spells need alot of MP weak spells use little MP
      *Quina has new modded abilites - even some NEW ONES!!!

   Monsters:
      *All monster levels are doubled and defense matches new levels
      *All bosses in disc 4 have regen and haste
      *Iifa tree boss is demon instead of undead
      *Removed exp from pand battles on disc 3
      *Can you beat ozma? be the 1st in world.

   General Feeling of the game:
      *Disc 1-4 goes kaizo - easy if played smart

   *Any bugs or ideas feel free to post

**TIPS**
   *Leveling marcus helps ALOT
   *Staying low level on main chars gives better stats once obtain better items later in game - refer to perfect stats guide
   *There are many hidden secrets lie ahead - Dont wanna spoil the game now do we??

Difficulty mods for FF9 make me happy. This game is far under-modded compared to FF7 and FF8.

Moving to releases, since clearly you have a download here.

yea im brand new here, been working on this on twitch live, it is possible to make it to end of disc 4 at lvl 1

but yea any suggestions or ideas lemme know. i can also make game alot harder if anyone wants harder version. i made this version where it starts very easy then ends very hard.

what would u suggest to make it easier. i removed hardcore cuz in a way its not really that hard. next week i can make easy and hardcore version

hey

you could make a easy type hack of ff9 by making all the party members have max status, have all items in the game and max hp and inf and max mp and inf mp in the hack

Is difficulty mods all we can do do for ff9 at the minute? I understand it's not for pc which makes it difficult but was just wondering.

Tsun what are u looking for in a mod in ff9? mine isnt just about how hard the game is. i made use of everything possible. have a look for urself. lol

also i will not be making cheat mods for ff9 sry guys thats not my style.

I can't check it yet as the pc is currently dead. But things like the background textures and maybe music or models. Same as the others really. BTW sorry I didn't say it sooner but good job on this. I'm a complete newb when it comes to modding/hacking so I wonder if it's possible to apply the Waifu upscaling method that we've recently seen done for 7 by Satsuki to ff9? That would really make it amazing, the character models and menus and whatnot are already pretty good. Good work on the mod.

its cool to see there are also mods for FF IX since my most favorite FF games are 7 and 9.i will have a try on this mod too.i was hopping that there  will be a beatrix mod out there that replace steiner as a playable character...how nice ;) but i think this is too hard ???

hello again guys, i have one questions to ask here about FF IX modding using Hades workshop. i want to modify some of disc 4 normal enemy + boss hp to go over 65535(the max hp limit) or just make thier hp pool to loop over and over few times so how to do it? thx in advanced ;)

Increasing the HP limit can't be done directly. You can only loop the HP pool a few times as you suggested.
The details are explained here, using Trance Kuja as an example :

thx for the guide link but very sry i still don't quite understand how to change the value of the hp pool loop. i know its in the loop function trance kuja loop, right? but i don't know which line and which value to change so that T.kuja hp will loop 3 times. Also only T.kuja battle will end after his hp less than 10000, right? for other boss like garland and silver dragon..etc are different? i am not familiar with programming and its coding so its hard for me to understand :-[

To make HP loop 3 times, change the "5" to a "3" in those lines (the full "loop" function is in the post linked) :

            SET VAR_B7_60++
            SET SV_FunctionEnemy[HP] =$ Op2B(SV_FunctionEnemy[MAX_HP])
        } else {
"++" means the variable is incremented (so "VAR_B7_60" goes from 0 to 1, then from 1 to 2, etc... each time Kuja's HP gets under 10000).

Another thing you must not forget to do is to change the local variable counter to 61. You find that counter at the left of the text of the functions in Hades Workshop (at least in the current version).

A lot of bosses in FF9 have this kind of principle "battle will end after his hp less than 10000". The most noticeable exceptions are the 4 Fiends, Quale, Taharka, Ark, Tantarian and Hilgigars.
For those, you need to implement the healing inside the looping function quiet the same way. Only there is no "if ( #( SV_FunctionEnemy[HP] <$ 10000 ) ) {" in the looping function by default.

new edit: one question to ask you resinate, did you modify all the bosses at the end of disc 3 to have hp more than 65535 also applies to disc 4 some strong enemis and all bosses to have over 65535 hp(hp loop). I wish to see some nice and awesome skill like Flare star,Ultima and grand cross are usable but only available starts near the end of disc 3(Pandaemonium) and starts disc 4. Flare star also can be used by some end game bosses or strong enemy like Behemoth. :D

I'm thinking I'll give this a try. I love seeing new abilities for characters in FFIX mods.  However I am curious, did you alter Steals from bosses at all?

Also you described Disk 1 and 2 as easy. You meant easy relative to what comes later right? I mean, I would like the first half of the game to be a challenge.

just did massive overhaul on mod, all discs should provide quite a challenge. everything can be maxxed out, HP MP STATS DEF

*Fixed greens from not working to summon chocobo
*balanced power and MP costs of spells and summons
