No, the directx layer is actually too late to change anything in the code, so I have done it far earlier in the game engine itself.

Is it possible to make one that runs at 960x720, as this seems to be the highest multiple 320x240 that fits on my laptop's screen.
Many other people - myself included - already asks for this feature several times. It seems that laptops - and therefore this special problem - become more and more frequent nowadays.

Maybe we can persuade TheSaint to make a final fix to his patch.

My laptop does only support a max res. of 1280x800 too, but DO play FF7 on that laptop with highres, because i run in window mode and change the desktop res. to 1280x960 when playing (cant see parts of the screen then, but its better than playing without highres).

When you switch to a desktop res. of 1280x1024 or greater you can move the shown part of the screen with the mouse, so that you can see the most things of the game.

Well, now I'm starting to get the High-Res-patched US exe into spanish, but I have a question for the experts:

Some words have its first letter replaced with simbols or numbers, such as "3LOW" instead of "SLOW"; I deducted that "normal letters" are minor and "simbols and numbers" are capitals, am I right? Is there any table showing the conversion?

Thanks in advance ;)

EDIT: I already figured the conversions, I'm currently translating the normal US 1.02 exe for testing (my laptop isn't able to run the game at 1280x960), and getting good results so far:

Notice that the english word does not limit the translated one; Config > Configurar, for example :D
When the spanish version is done, maybe I could help in translating into German or French with the help of some native speaker?

You could explain what exactly you did on your spanish ff7.exe, maybe someone speaking german/french/italian can do that on their files too...

You got it wrong, I'm translating the in-game text in the US executable (patched with High-Res) to spanish, not the other way around.

Hi to all,

I'm new in gaming, and I've decided to start with the best games, and one of them is FF VII... and it has been a great surprise to discover this great mod that enables high resolution to it, so lots of thanks to The SaiNt for his great work.

I'm Spanish, so having to play with the Engilsh FF7.exe is not the best option for me, so I'd be very pleased if NeXaR could post his patched highres English FF7.exe translated to Spanish.

Greetings

Edit:
Forget the last part about posting the translated ff7.exe as there's another post with it (I don't know how I've looked before to don't see it)

I don`t reckon that you could add 1280x720 (which is a multiple of 320x240)? My shiny new 32" HDTV is somewhat picky about the resoutions it will accept, and 1280x720 is the standard that HDTVs use, meaning there might be enough demand to warrant it.

mmm but 1280x720 is 4x320 and 3x240. I guess it should be the same multiplier on X and Y

Does this mod work with the EU english version of the game? Or do mods created for the us version in generally work with EU english version? The US version is quite hard to get a hold on these days, atleast when you live in sweden.

I don't know for sure but I'm quite convinced that you'd have to apply it on 1.02 US patch anyway. Because there is no 1.02 EU patch as far as I know and US patch is probable meant for EU version as well. So I'd say yes, it's very possible. I'd be really surprised if there are some differences in data.

Ok, i got the high res patch working, kind of. the game runs in higher definition but the models is still the same. If i picked riva in the configure graphics option both patched seemed to work when patching, but ingame the models where still the same and when i chosed riva the graphics got all messed up. If i choose TNT its high res with AA so thats nice but what should i do to get the models working?

and by the way, EU version seems to be same as US, atleast some of the files said US

This patch only makes the game run at a higher resolution.   If you want improved models, check out the NPC Reconstruction Project.

You can't do anything about the numbers - they are textures after all, therefore increasing the resolution means you are going to get some misaligned fonts/bitmaps.
Besides its not really that bad is it?

Question, every time I try to update it, it comes up with ''CRC32 check failed!"

What's the problem?

Did you disabled your 8-bit paletted texture? I did this and it worked. I had the same problem.

development of this patch is dead?
if not, when will be available a new version that add support for widescreen and other languages?

I certainly have no time to work on this project atm, so I'd say it's on-hold for the moment.
There will never be widescreen support though, after all, the game was meant to be run at a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Language support is mentioned in the faq, so look there.

Well I had to express my gratitude. I just picked up a new 19" LCD and the contrast ratio of it and higher native res than I was used to has made everything look so much better. So I decided to finally try this out. Not only does everything look great, but now there's no delay in alt+tabbing since it's running at the same res as my desktop. Everything is stunning! Thank you for this patch (and for including the Chocobo patch with it).
