I certainly have no time to work on this project atm, so I'd say it's on-hold for the moment.
There will never be widescreen support though, after all, the game was meant to be run at a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Language support is mentioned in the faq, so look there.
my problem is that i use this patch that convert fft in ita

I read through this post and the one it was continued from and couldnt find a solution to my problem. I have th 1.02 patch, the Saint's higher res patch, and the NPC reconstruct going. Only happens when I apply the Saint's patch, it looks like the display is too large for my monitor, the right side and the bottom side are cut off. no black bar or anything, just cut off. i can run 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1792x1344, 1800x1440, 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 1920x1440, and 2048x1536.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think there is a 1280x1024 version of the patch in the same pack you downloaded(if you downloaded it from this thread), I guess you should try this one.

First apply the 1280x960 Patch and then the 1280x1024 fix. That should work  :-)

i know that the game is in 4:3 but i have a 16:9 monitor and i think that ff7 with an higher resolution (even if is in 16:9) will look better

This has been asked for way too many times. There is no "easy" way of changing the resolution of FF7 to anything that isn't a multiple of the original resolution.
And even if it was possible, do you think it would look any good stretching the image to a 16:9 resolution? Frankly,  don't think so.

Okedoke, ok I've installed everything and its working fine with this MOD.  Problem is once in a awhile when a random battle starts the game freezes and I get the "ff7.exe has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" crap.  Any way to fix that?  O and btw: after u first meet the Don and u fall into the sewers, the turtle enemies with spears (ya i forget their name) have a small glitch in the tail region, they have a small white square instead of the black area for their shell hole.

k now the problem is that when i install the patch and choose the ff7.exe to patch it, the program reads "can not find the file" even though im clicking on it lol.  What's wrong with your patch?

from the readme
+Fix the credits (Low priority)
+Fix upper left hand corner bug in battle.
+Fix misc bugs
+Add 32-bit support
+Add interpolation of textures instead of FFVII's default pixel doubling (Really HARD)
+Move some code to make executable smaller (original PE file is horribly optimized)
+Add 1600x1200 support once everything is done.
+Add support for resolutions that are non multiples of 320x240 (by adding black borders)

any news about these new things?

Alright i'm finally askin for help since i've wasted countless hours trying to get this to work.  First starting with a clean install then tryout the game and everything is ok. Next i apply the 1.02 patch and everything is ok.  Then I apply the high res patch and it goes on succesfully.  Now when i try to run the game the screen flashes black and then back to the desktop.  I've tried evey variation with the nvidia and tnt check boxes to no avail also screwed around with riva tuner and my aa settings.I'm about ready to dropkick my puter. Any advice would be great

System:

geforce fx 5700 with newest drivers and older ones

Hi guys -

I have this really wierd problem. I downloaded the hi-res patch from multiple sources, including this site - and only the 1280x1024 executable (12.5kb) of the patch will execute. The other .exe file (presumably the actual patch, which is 42kb in size) simply won't execute. Windows keeps telling me, specifically "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I'm running windows xp media center edition 2005. I have all the necessary req's to run ff7 (and have been sucessfully for quite some time). I just can't the patch to actually execute on my computer.

Anyone got any advice or solutions?

Thanks -

zeeon

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was related to AVG, which is reporting it as a virus. I turned AVG off, but the problem persists. I haven't been able to get FF7 to run yet anyway, but I'm still trying!

A quote from a topic I started in 'Programming Feedback'.

Quote from: Henkäys Ikuisuudesta
High Resolution FFVII PC (trouble with Norton... WTF?!!)

Yeah, I don't even know where to post this, but well, nevermind.

This is the "trouble":
I open a folder containing the 1280*1024 & 1280*960 patches,
then my 'Norton Internet Security Center 2006' just removes the second patch cause it "thinks" its dangerous.

So, my questions are:
WTF is going on with the patch/with Norton???!!!
And, why it "thinks" the 1280*960 patch its dangerous??!!
And even, why 1280*960 yes but the other no??!!

I'm using the 1280*1024, but I just need to know what is going on with those things!! Grrr!!

Thank you ^^U

I think there is something strange with that patch...

Look harder =)

The high-rez patch comes with a  sub-patch for long-view screens, like on a laptop.

ok i have no idea if this is a dead thread but i registered today to ask for some help.
I have two concerns.
1) being that i simply cannot apply the second half of the patch. It says the exe is wright protected or the wrong size or something. I patch it with the first patch and the second doesnt work...wtf.
2) When i run the game i get a black screen and nothing more. In fact...it freezes my computer. Ive had this problem ever since i updated to 1.02v.

2.1 ghz AMD
1024 megabytes of RAM DDR
ATI Radeon 9550 1050X Series
Sound Blaster 5.1 Live! audio card
The monitor for some reason doesnt have a brand or model number on it...so its still plug and play (could that be the problem?)

And I guess to add another. After Applying the patch Software Render mode gives me an error message, but hardware acceleration freezes and locks into the black screen. Ive set my properties to all the of the pixel settings discussed on this thread. Hardward Acceleration works for FF8 no question, but for some reason FF7 wont even let me choose it as an option without choosing RIVA and...i have an ATI. Is there maybe an earlier version that supports the 1.01 version or even a newer one that works? Or maybe someone could just assist me with the problem...cuz i see the success stories and i wonder...why not me??

Which patch are you applying first? The 1280*960 one must be applied first if you want to apply the 1280*1024 one.
Please also check what resolutions are supported on your monitor in windows display properties, it it doesn't support either of the resolutions than obviously this patch won't work.

Hey -

I fixed the problem with the patches. I run AVG Free Virus scanner, but I think this will fix most people's problem with running the first executable in the patch. You have to turn off the "Resident Shield" part of your virus scanner. In AVG, it's hidden in a series of menu's within AVG Control Center. You have to turn on advance mode, and then a big button with "Resident Shield" will appear - you click on it and disable it.

I had originally though I had killed all the AVG stuff running - but you have to EXPLICITLY turn this feature OFF in your virus protection. Killing all the anti-virus processes, turning off or stopping the anti-virus services won't work. You have to actually open your anti-virus program and turn this feature off. It could be called "Resident Shield" or "Resident Memory protection" or something similar to that.

Hope that helps you guys with similar problems such as my own.
Saint - thanks for the great patch man! Now I get to play this on my HDTV in hi-res :)) AWESOME DUDE :)
