Discrepancy with attack stat
« on: 2016-01-27 00:37:46 »
So, when I play FFVII normally, the stats are, well, normal.
However, when I play it with 7th Heaven, the amount of damage I do is way less than normal. For instance, I might do above 100 damage normally, but with the same hit in 7th Heaven I'd only do 40 or so.
Here's my load order, in case that helps, and I'm using ff7_mo.exe

When you say "normally" do you mean before you use the Game Converter (install, then play...no changes at all)? Also, which game version do you start with (1998, SE Store, Steam)?

I'm using the Steam version, and normally is both before and after game converter, as I tried using the official launcher after converting to see if it would be like vanilla FF7.

A standard physical hit at the start of the vanilla game is about 40. I think it climbs to about 90-100 or so once you've gotten a Hard Edge from one of the SOLDIER: 3rds in Shinra HQ (might be wrong, been a while). What point of the game are you comparing damage between? The start, or later on?

I'm right after helping Aerith escape the church, with Cloud equipped with Buster Sword at level 13.
And yes, when I use that save file with vanilla FF7 it gives me ~100 damage.
I'll try converting one of my PSP saves to a .ff7 file and seeing if that works.
And I'd be happy to upload my file if need be. :D
EDIT: Just in case, here's the link.

Tested the file on steam version, Cloud deals 55 damage per hit (front row).

His stats were:
STR: 25
Buster Sword: 18 Atk
Attack: 43 (wep + str combined)

Best guess is that your default version has some kind of left-over modification in it that was overlooked. Check the stats of Cloud for his Str and the Buster Sword's base attack when loading your save. If they're the same as the stats posted above, then only thing I can think of is that the enemy is somehow weak to the Cut element, or that a special formula has been used for Buster Sword (the hardcore mod does this, so maybe another PS1 mod does the same?)

In any case, it sounds like 7H has the correct damage output for an unmodified game.

OK, since it seems that I have 34 Attack using 7th Heaven, I'm guessing it has something to do with the Buster Sword.
EDIT: So, after disabling Menu Overhaul, I'm back to 43 Attack, so I'll check if it's like that with ReTranslated. Which seemed to work, strangely. Is there something different in ff7_mo.exe to cause this?

Everything involved with Menu Overhaul should only affect the size or position of the fonts and windows. If you disable MO in 7H, then you need to change your Workshop -> Settings -> FF7 Exe to the normal ff7.exe or else you're going to have awkward font and window alignments.

I started a New Game with the 3 possible options, and here's what I got:

MO: off
EXE: ff7.exe
Str: 18
Buster: 18 Atk
Attack: 36

MO: off
EXE: ff7_mo.exe
Str: 12
Buster: 18
Attack: 30

MO: on
EXE: ff7_mo.exe
Str: 12
Buster: 18
Attack: 30

It appears that the current ff7_mo.exe slightly affects the Str of Cloud, but in what ways I don't know. I literally installed R03e on a clean install of FF7 and just copied the necessary files into the 7H mod. I also just renamed the new ff7.exe to ff7_mo.exe and imported to the Game Converter. If this is a serious enough issue for you, than it would need to be brought up to DLPB in the Reunion thread.

It's not the kernel if the stats are being altered between saves; maybe it's the Materia equip bonuses/penalties that are decreasing strength?

It's ff7_mo.exe. Though that might just be because the version of Reunion used with 7thHeaven is R03(e), which uses that .exe, as I don't know if it's used with R04c.

Materia equip bonuses/penalties are stored in the .exe. Maybe he changed them?

Edit: A thought occurred. Alyza, did you say there was an NT + MO.exe where they're combined together? I think the strength penalty on NT materia is -2 or something and the save file had three Materia equipped on Cloud I think.

Yes, the ff7_nt.exe inside the current GC link is your NT exe from the NT thread with only MO installed from R03e overtop.
