hello , I wanted to ask if it was possible to create a mod where there were shifts in battle , as in ffX .

What do you mean in shifts in the battle?  FF7 probably has it's version of what you are thinking as the tec was limited back then so you need to be a bit more specific in how you mean.

I believe they mean shifting characters, like pressing R2 would do.

In FFX, you can substitute in different party members during the battle. For example, you start with Cloud, Barret, and Vincent but the enemy is only affected by ranged weapons. You would then use the appropriate command during battle to substitute Cloud out for Yuffie so that all members can now ranged attack.
