FF7 Tools / Re: [FF7PC] Trainer - Ochu (2.0)
« on: 2015-12-08 14:44:55 »
I was under the impression that the Fort Conder battles were based on the Game Moment (as Makou calls it), e.g. after Kalm you get the first battle, after the buggy you get the second one etc (these are just examples, I don't know exactly when a battle is meant to happen). Based on that you'd probably need to alter your game progression to get to the earlier fights.

While I'm pretty sure that's the case, I can't confirm that's really it, so that's just a guess.

General Discussion / Re: FF7 Remake Gameplay Reveal
« on: 2015-12-07 14:50:07 »
Type-0 was originally released for the PSP in 2011, with PSP graphics. It was re-released earlier this year (in March, if my memory serves me right) with upscaled graphics and some things changed around. Granted, performance is crap, translation leaves a lot to be desired and the English voice acting makes my ears bleed, but there are Japanese voices so I'm fine for that. The difference with Crisis Core is that Type-0 never got a release outside of Japan. But really, re-releasing a PSP game with upscaled graphics isn't that bad. Yes, it's a cash grab, but given that Type-0's port was truly an HD upscale (and not just some filters applied), I believe it would be nice to experience that game in HD again.

To me, I draw the line where it makes sense to. Type-0 ported with HD graphics and available to the whole world? Worth it. Crisis Core ported with HD graphics for everyone without a PSP to enjoy? Sounds alright. It's not inherently bad just because it's not new.

Otherwise, I pretty much reflect Ric's point. Don't like it? Don't buy it. It's as simple as that, really.

We do not allow posting links to the game's files here. If you wish to distribute such a change, you will need to make it as a patch and distribute that. -Vgr

FFIV: The After Years (which is *really* good btw) was episodic. Each main character had their own little story, and then you could load your completed save games in the final chapter and play with all your maxed out characters. I'm guessing that this is the route that they're going to take (or rather, I hope so). It's a good mechanic IMO, but I have no idea how it will work with that game.

FFXII behaved very much in this way; this was real-time but you had your ATB fill up before you could act. FFXIII was similar yet different; haven't played the more recent ones. If they went for this venue in XII/XIII, this wouldn't surprise me if they decided to go there for this one too.

I personally blame the voice acting

"HA-HA-HA"

On another note though, it kind of reminds me (from afar) of Type-0, which is a very good game by itself, even though it originally was tied to the FFXIII universe. I played it thinking of it as a standalone game, and it did me wonders. If I'm going to play the remake, I'm going to play with that mindset again, in that it's a different game and not the original.

While I do agree that after FFX the quality went down by FF standards, it doesn't mean the games are bad by themselves. The games ARE good. FFXII was really great, I loved it. I quite enjoyed FFXIII, and I'm currently enjoying FFXIII-2. I'm not going to let nostalgia prevent me from playing new games, although lately I've been replaying FFIV. Classics are immuable, and they remain classics. New games are new experiences, and they may or may not become classics in their lifetime. FFVII wasn't a classic when it came out early in 1997. It became so over time. Let's say you disliked FFVI, would you have not played FFVII because of that? Well, you'd have missed out on a great game let me tell you that!

Just my perception on the whole thing.

I'm not talking about all of Wow6432Node, but only the keys that may be related to your program. If there's a key with the name of your program, or the name of the developer, then you probably found it. If you don't feel comfortable with the registry, that's fine and I can't blame you, but I was trying to solve your problem instead of your solution :)

58
You could probably look up the registry, but beware! This can royally screw up your computer! If you want to do it still, Windows+R, type 'regedit' without quotes and Enter. Search for the program's name or developer (usually under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software, and probably Wow6432Node if you're on 64 bits), then 'File > Export' the registry key; that'll save a backup. Then you can try deleting it, and see if install succeeds. Repeat until it works, and if it doesn't, just run all the .reg files you'll have gotten from saving those keys, it'll re-apply what you deleted. And this is why you should make backups.

I make no guarantee that this will work, or not damage your computer!

If you're being extra careful, it should be fine, but use at your own risk.

They have repeatedly stated that the trailer was not representative of game content, and just done that way for the trailer's sake. It's possible they'll try to frame the whole thing as a flashback, Hobbit-style, but it doesn't make any sense at all for it to be a full-on sequel.

Heh, my bad for not being interested in the slighliest in this remake and thus not paying attention to related news :P

60
I am still fairly sure, from the trailer, that this will not actually a remake, but rather a sequel. So, yeah, can't beat it.

Troubleshooting / Re: FF7 7th Heaven Issues.
« on: 2015-10-28 20:35:25 »
The Like/Dislike button are the karma. You see it says I currently have 26 karma, and that increases when someone clicks Like, and decreases when someone clicks Dislike. It's a way to show that you appreciate someone's contribution and/or answer.

62
Inquiries related to 7th Heaven should go in the respective subforum. That said, your issue seems like an issue with a specific mod (I would guess the numpad patch, but that's merely an uneducated guess), rather than the whole package. I've gone ahead and renamed your thread title to be more descriptive.

Edit: Judging by your edit, I am very inclined to think that the laptop keyboard patch is to blame. Your edit also undid my own edit to your title. Oh well.

I know it's probably easier for most of you to speak French, however on this forum it is preferable to communicate in English, or, at least, in both languages, like I'm doing here. It allows bystanders who don't speak French to participate in the conversation, or at least follow along.

FF7 Tools / [PC] people.bin editor - Workers (v0.4)
« on: 2015-10-19 14:10:39 »
After I saw this thread, I decided to work on a tool to edit the people.bin file inside the cr_**.lgp file. You will need to extract the file from the LGP archive before you can open it. It's not complete yet, awaiting some feedback to improve it. Mainly the UI part is left to improve.

Download (version 0.4) and get Python to run the program.

Source code on GitHub

Many thanks to IlDucci for the format research!

This is a Python 3.x program, I'm pretty sure any version will work. The provided download is for 3.5.1, which most definitely works. 3.2.x should work too. 2.x will NOT work!

Known issue: The UI is ugly. It's not hard to figure out what does what, but the placement is not well-done. I can't figure out how to place them properly, so if anyone who has any experience with Tk can help that would be great. I would use Qt but Tk ships with any Python version and I don't want to have users have to install PyQt to make it work. So I used Tk.

Update 0.4 (December 9th, 2015): Add support for the special accented characters for different languages, and make the right-hand display show the line contents

We are not here to hand-feed you. You can use Google by yourself, and if you cannot find it, then we most likely cannot either.

69
Given as this is not a Final Fantasy-related question (or even related to Square Enix at all), there is very little chance that people here can help you. If nobody answers you first, maybe that's because no one knows the answer.

I suggest you get acquainted with the rules.

70
Please do not cross-post the same question in multiple places. I have answered you in the other thread already.

FF8 Tools / Re: [FF8] kernel.bin editor - Carbuncle (0.9)
« on: 2015-10-18 13:58:14 »
You need Deling to open the .fs files and extract the kernel.bin from it.

72
Still haven't gotten around to fetching my data files from my older computer. I'll let you know when I do.

73
You should post in the 7th Heaven forum instead.

74
Nope, 7th Heaven is much more stable than Bootleg, and what you should be using anyway.

75
You should be using 7th Heaven instead, as Bootleg is dead. Most of the issues with Bootleg have been fixed in 7th Heaven.
