"The Government have recently passed laws in the UK to try and suppress live music.

Pubs which could previously offer work to solo musicians or duos now have to pay for a special licence and can only have 12 of these per year.

Even school Xmas concerts need to be licensed.

The unlicensed provision of even one musician is a potential criminal offence (although some places are exempt, including places of public religious worship, royal palaces and moving vehicles). Max penalty: £20,000 fine and six months in prison (for the proprietor and the musicians).

The rationale is to prevent noise, crime and disorder, to ensure public safety, and the protection of children from harm. But broadcast entertainment, including sport and music, is exempt - no matter where, and no matter how powerfully amplified. For the first time, private performances raising money for charity will need a licence.

School performances open to friends and family will need a licence - they count as public performances.

If you want to add your name to the petition (currently more than 27,000 people have joined the list), please click on the following link (it takes less than a minute)...

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/licensing/

If this law is implemented, it will be disastrous for music and musicians in the UK, and will threaten to return Britain to "the land without music" that it was internationally considered to be after Cromwell's infamous ban on music."

Im speachless.

This takes political faggotry to a new f***ing level.  Stupid cunts.

As you can probably tell, music means alot to me, especially seing new unsigned talent.  I see maybe 10 new bands a week at local venues around the city.  This is now saying that these nights can happen ONCE a month, as opposed to twice weekly.

Much of the revenue of the pub accross the road from my halls of residence is generated from their 3 live music nights, effectively putting them (and thousands of other places) out of business if this comes into play.  Disgraceful, the person who thought of this is an utter 'tard.

Im pretty much out of the loop on goings on here reguarding modifications on the PSX Version of the game, so please forgive me if I seem ignorant.

As some people may know, Games can now be bought from the PS3Store, and played on the PSP.

I myself have updated my PSP to version 3.03 Open Edition, and have just got FFVII and Resident Evil 2 working on it flawlessly more or less.

My question is this.  I have a program to change the ISO of the game into an EBOOT.PHP file ready for loading onto the PSP.

Are there any patches for the PSX version that I can test through this conversion, and then on the PSP, Or is the communtiy mainly fosucing on the PC version these days?

Cheers

JP.

Completely Unrelated / Bully AKA Canis Canem Edit
« on: 2006-11-05 22:45:06 »
So, im sure your news stations have been giving it a fair bit of bad publicity.  Such is the society we live in.

A game, named Bully.  Media automatically thinks "Bully! You must be going around bullying kids".  I dont think they can get any further from the truth, unsupprisingly.

The game defines the main character as the "Anti-Bully", trying to survive through a tough boarding school by any means, beating people up when needed, etc, getting into trouble.

So why is it getting such bad publicity?

Well, Obviously the "sexual" content (¬_¬) is causing some rifts.  Or rather, its causing Jack Thompson to cause some rifts, ala "OMG NOEZ YOU CAN KISS ANOTHER BOY IN THIZ GAMEZ WE MUST BANNED IT".  Yeah, Because god forbid that gay people should be put in a video game, because THATS where "they can cause the most "damage"".

Its an absaloute piss-take that Thompson is actively campaigning for the game to be taken off the shelves for its gay content (The ability to make out with other boys), and the fact "Its a simulator to train bullies for schools".

Have any of you played the game?

I bought it myself earlier on (<3 Student Discount), been playing it for a few hours and to be honest, its a very gritty game, but then again, its Rockstar, its what they do best, GTA, State of Emergency.  dont think they have made a game to date that hasnt had some bad press in the past 5 years.  Be it from GTA, Midnight club Racing, and now Bully.

What are your thoughts on the game? Anyone agree with Thompson on the Bully Simulator veiw?

Richard Hammond, Presenter of Top Gear, was in a crash this evening, and is now in hospital in a "Critical" state.

He was test driving a rocket car, and apparantly crashed at around 200mph.

Completely Unrelated / Guitar modification
« on: 2006-07-21 22:14:47 »
I noticed there hasn't been a topic about guitars here, ever ( I think )

So ill start one!

Do you play the guitar?  What setup do you have?

I just bought myself a Epiphone Gibson SG in black

That exact one in fact.

Now to the topic at hand.  I want to mod my guitar to a higher standard to what I have at the moment.

For cosmetics, im thkning about getting the Official Gibson SG dials for the volume and tone settings, and getting a silver (possibly metal) scratchplate, custom made if I have to.

for the actual guitar itself, im thinking of buying some Zakk Wylde signature custom EMG humbuckers, and possibly a chrome vibrato fitting to replace the current non-vibrato setup.

Assuming you understood what I just said, and it hasnt gone over your head, what are your thoughts on my proposed ideas?  Furthermore, has anyone had any experience with this themselfs, and have a favourite online shop they use?

Thanks

Ray

Basicly, it was my birthday in february, and I was bought an import of an Iron Maiden Boxset, the only CD's im missing from my collection. Long story short, After 2 months waiting for my present, I cancled the order and ordered this keyboard from Dell.  (Logitech G15 Gaming grade keyboard)
A week passes after ordering, and its not here, its not even been ordered by them, apparantly they cocked up the day after I ordered it, and no orders went through, they also put the price up. so I ordered from a shop named "Futuremedia". This was 3 weeks ago.  After one week of waiting, I phone up to see where its got to, as it still said "processing" on the webform.  Aparrantly THEIR system had a glitch, where the money was taken from the accounts, but no actual orders were made.  I said ok, and expected it within the next fortnight.

Last night I phoned up again, and was told that due to more system complications and because my order was messed up, they couldnt send me one, because they no longer had stock, and that I could be assured "No one in the country can sell one to you, unless its at a stupid price" (They were charging £39.99 for it by the way)

I cancled that order, and went hunting for somewhere that may have it in stock.  I came across a little shop named "Microdirect".  They had "loads" in stock, and were priced slightly more expensively, at £44.99, but it was in stock, and my old keyboard was now dead.  I ordered it at 5 PM last night,

I was woken up by the doorbell this morning to see a nice man from Amtrack with a keyboard sized parcel for me :D

>_> After 4 months of waiting, I finally have a birthday present :o  And a damn nice keyboard too.

I must warn though, If you ever decided to buy from either "Futuremedia" or "CD101.com" please think again, they have both been incredibly hard to deal with.

>_> on another note, This keyboard is godly, the backlit keys, the inbuilt USB ports and to top it off, the LCD display that natively works with some games is awesome, and it can be customised too!

If anyone is thinking of getting a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard, I can only reccomend them, and Microdirect.co.uk

<_< Sorry for any spelling mistakes Jari, Learning to use a new keyboard is annoying >_<

Having just come back from Download Festival 2006, I have many stories to tell, one of which being caught up in the riots that ended this years festival, and possibly ending Download Festival perminantly.

22 : 15 PM : Guns and Roses just finished their comeback gig in the UK, Everyone was amazaed by the performance, amazing atmosphere.

01 : 30 AM : fires are started, bangs are heard and the fire department are called to put out the fires.

2 : 30 AM : Burger van set on fire. can cannisters are thrown into the building, and expldoe, causing damage and lots of firey rain of debris

3 AM : A 30 foot watchtower, made of steel scafoldin, cemented into the ground is somehow toppled infront of my eyes, and hits the ground, more explosions can be heard in the distance

3 : 30 AM : Riot police arrive.  Regardless of who is standing where, they get attacked. Myself, I got attacked with a batton and slammed to the ground with a riot sheild. I was standing next to another burger van chatting to the people working there.

4 AM : Police take more action, Tear gas is deployed. I only got a back end of it, however for 20 minutes, It was agony to do anything.

4 : 30 AM Riot police retreat, Arrest 32 people. Recall attack alsatians ( I think they were Alsatiations)

Now I ask this.  Was this action justified, or over the top?

Alot of innocent bvystanders got hit to the ground by the Riot cops, and a CC Shotgun was being carried by about 1 of 5 cops.

They also had what looked to be tazers and pepper spray.

What a shit end to a great weekend tbh....

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / FFVII on PSP - Again
« on: 2005-12-16 22:42:52 »
Probably you'll delete this Halkun, but I dissagree with you.

FFVII WILL be playable on a PSP soon, I can promise that, its just a case of hacking the firmware.

At current, firmware version 2.0 has been 80% cracked, its just Kernal apps cannot be run flawlessly.  As stated, there is a PSX emu for the PSP.  So where did you get the idea it cant be played?  Get the external hard drive, available worldwide, and then use an iso creation package to copy the discs.

Its not a case of IF, its a case of WHEN we will be able to play it on the PSP.

And once again, when new firmware is released, you dont have to upgrade, and if anything, buying a new game will require you to go without for maximum of a month without custom apps.  But just look at the speed that the FW's are being craked. its getting faster and faster.

As it happens, I have upgraded my firmware to 2.0 because its been craked AND its got homebrew, there is, in essence, nothing stopping me from playing it on a PSP, except the lack of an emu that will accept ISO images/The way the game runs.

I cant say I understand the architecture of the PSP or its homebrew apps, but I can promise you it will be possible sooner rather than later.

If it can play a game with PS2 (or a tiny bit less) quality graphics, then tbh, PS1 should be piss easy for it, its all about coding it right.

Once again, sorry for making another topic, I just felt that this had to be said.

Archive / Low frame rate in FFVIII Battles :/
« on: 2005-08-09 05:23:26 »
After installing my new gfxcard drivers, The latest omega's I now get a handy FPS display in the top right corner of the screen.

now, when I enter a battle, it only regesters ar 16FPS and it looks the same speed.

I always remember battles being more fluid and not as slow :/

Is there something ive done wrong, or is this normal?
