Hey
« on: 2004-01-21 20:43:35 »
Hey everyone, I just thought I'd give a shout out to all of you since I'm new to this forum. Actually I have been browsing (just not posting), and am in debt to Qhimm for those FFVII patches. :) Thanks a bunch.

Anyhow, little brief information about my self:
I'm 18/M and live in Toronto; my hobbies are collecting Ninja Turtle paraphernalia, drinking a lot of coke, and programming(C, C++, VB, ASP, and PHP).

Other then that and good old rock, that briefly describes me in a nutshell. All I need is a thread for pictures and I can post mine if some request.

So yeah, hey! :wicked:

Thanks a bunch, it'll be fun being here; I just hope I can increase my programming skill by paying more attention to the other forum. ;)

It's kinda like moonlighting, isn't it?

A warm welcome to you and I guess since I am new I will introduce myself as well.

I am 23/M, and I live in southern California, USA. I am currently a student, studying computer science at a local university. I program mostly in C, but am familiar with programming in Java, C++, and Assembly (x86, MIPS).

My interests include, not in any specific order, electronics, photography, programming, reverse engineering, playing video games, and also drinking coke or anything sugary and cheap.

Thanks for the nice warm welcome guys, it's very much appreciated.

To expand on my computer knowledge, I'm currently working with C++ as a hobby and know the fundamental basics along with all the STL use. I'm currently working my way on direct x, but I can't say that I've gotten very far. :P

Yeah I've only been working on C++ for 3 or 4 months, but I've done enough programming in general to understand key concepts quickly.

Well mostly it was the desire for designing a game, I started with something basic, so I just read a few chapters of the book then I spent a week or so applying them too the game. The book I was reading didn't teach alot about structures like in the Standard Template Library(STL), so those I had to find out for myself; but the structures really help in structuring the program because you start becoming dependant on them. :)

My suggestion is read a few chapters, get the basics down like:

Data types (int, bool, long, char, and so on)
Newing Pointers\Deleting pointers

Function Structures
Templating Functions

Class Structures
Templating Classes

Read up on sorting algorthms
Read up on structures or containers (Members of the stl)

Then lead your way into Win32 programming.

If you'd like I can post links to some of these, but most of them you can find simply on http://www.gamedev.net.
