Following on from the announcement of Agito, a brand new game based on the Bike Chase has been made for mobile devices.

It actually looks really fun to play, and it's free :p ....But with in-app purchases.

Gameplay / FF7 any leader proof of concept
« on: 2013-07-12 19:51:01 »
It's actually really easy, all you need to do is just merge Cloud's codes with the other guys. Here's 2 videos to show it does work:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrCba7lzYWI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FXYlIssXAc

Simply put, in order to do that, you just need to take Cloud's scripts and put them on the other characters, moving any other scripts into other slots if necessary. So far I've managed to get Kalm town to the end of the mythril mines playable as Aeris, with only Kalm being able to have Cloud as a party member at the moment.

Gameplay / Aeris playable in Dissidia
« on: 2013-03-28 13:17:59 »
Remember ages ago I made that graphical mod where Aeris replaced Yuna? I managed to get her working with her own attacks and voices! As well as Tifa's chase attacks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqvwcchDxZo

Her own ID still won't equip attacks, and since we can't add new data into the package, I had to overwrite Feral Chaos. At the moment I'm looking into giving her some new attacks, but it's proving hard.

I am very proud of this :D

Gameplay / Final Fantasy VII+
« on: 2013-01-01 18:21:08 »
I've been thinking about this for a while now. What I want to do, is combine a few mods/ideas together to make a new experience. What I was thinking was:

Aeris patch -  Optional, she will need to be "resurrected" through a side quest

Cloudless party - Play with any character you want, except for certain scenes

ATE's from FF9 - Moogles next save points if an ATE is available. For example one in Wall Market to show you what Barret and Tifa are up to.

Battle square Dissidia mode - fight the other party members. (Is that actually doable?)

I wanted to get some ideas/feelings from you guys first before I did anything. I think this will be a big one to do, so I may need a team. Anyone up for it?

This time I want to discuss things through first to get a clear idea of what people want.

General Discussion / Lightning returns: Final Fantasy XIII
« on: 2012-08-14 11:52:06 »
Quote
Producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed to Japanese magazine Famitsu that a new title in the Final Fantasy XIII series went into production and would be officially announced on September 1, when publisher Square Enix is set to hold an event to celebrate 25 years from the launch of the first title in the franchise.

The new game is known at the moment as the Lightning Saga, which means that it will focus on the character with the same name, although an official name will be revealed on September 1.

The game will probably use the main characters that gamers already know from the core XIII release and from its first sequel, while the mechanics stay firmly in the Japanese role-playing game genre.

The statement from Yoshinori Kitase is bad news for those who were hoping to hear news about Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which was recently rumored to be canceled and was then revealed to still be in development.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Square-Enix-Will-Announced-Lightning-Saga-on-September-1-284560.shtml

So it seems we may be getting FF13-3, or another game in that series. It'll probably involve Hope and Noel trying to restore the world again.

So Type 0 and vsXIII are no longer connected to FF13 then? :|

Also, as with the last one, I'm gonna have to ask that you don't clog this up with the usual Square is shit rants, FF13 sucks and so on. At least then we could have a decent discussion :)

This is an interview I read on KH Vids:
Quote
Many fans have been clamoring for a Final Fantasy VII remake for a while now, the classic PSone version available on PlayStation Network just isn't enough! In a chat with OXM, Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase says that, were a remake to happen, they would not be content keeping everything the same.

"If I may speak as a game creator," He said, "if we were to produce a remake of 7, for example, I would be really tempted to delete things and add new elements, new systems or whatever because if we were to make exactly the same thing now, it'd be like a repeat."

Kitase went on to say it wouldn't be as much fun to make a game like that, but also acknowledged that some of the fanbase might not be too happy with even slight changes.

"If we did that, the fans might be disappointed or [say] 'this is not what I was expecting' so in that sense maybe some might say that it's better to let memory be memory." He explained that, as developers, revisiting their old titles will often simply remind them of things that don't seem so cool now, or could have been better.

"But on the other hand, those slightly negative features and bits, for some of the really enthusiastic fans of these titles, that gives the game extra flavor or personality or whatever. So maybe they would rather we didn't do anything about it and we just leave it in as it is." He concludes, "It's very difficult to decide what we should keep in and what we should take out."

Square Enix isn't totally against the remake idea, as past revisions have proven, along with the upcoming version of Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. Would you want a remake of Final Fantasy VII? If so, would you care if they made adjustments to the game?

Well...from that it's like they want to remake it, but don't want to screw it up, so they aren't doing anything.

I wouldn't mind it being remade at all, it's just the part where they say they would change systems and delete things. Adding optional things would be alright I guess...

Old news, not sure if reported or not. It's only a couple of Months old:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/306594/news/square-would-be-interested-in-final-fantasy-vii-2-needs-to-be-big-budget/

Quote
Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase has spoken about the tantalising prospect of making Final Fantasy VII-2.

Asked whether Square Enix might make a direct sequel to the much loved game PSone game, FF XIII-2 producer and VII director Yoshinori Kitase told CVG's E3 agents:

"It would have to be really big budget title. It would take a long time and a lot of money to make that. We would be interested given the opportunity, but obviously we'd have to see, round up the best staff, and we'd have to look at the situation in the market to see if it's good timing for us... At the moment we've got no plans... We might do it."

So it seems that, given enough of a budget, as well as on opportunity, they'll do it. There was a bit of a whole left at the end of Cerberus...

I'd like it, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

Graphical / Dissidia 012 - Playing as Aeris
« on: 2011-09-07 13:03:17 »
---I put this under graphical because she is just a skin, rather than a proper player---

Yeah, you read that right. That's what I'm up to now :)

As most of you know, normally in Dissidia 012 Aeris is just an assist, not playable at all. However, after much trial and error, I managed to get her to swap with Vaan. For some reason he was the only one she would work with :-o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqFPIInrUC8

As you can see she can't attack because she lacks animations. After much more trial and error, I managed to give her all of Yuna's animations:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-qRJmj3Nms

She's still replacing Vaan in the video, but now she can replace Yuna too. However the extra bones Yuna have broken her bone weights, which is why she is all over the place. I have no idea how to fix it though :|

Does anyone understand the GMO spec on the wiki? That could really help out.

I just wanted to share my progress with you :)

And just for lolz, the first test I did, I used the leftover test dummy Aeris:

General Discussion / Type 0
« on: 2011-08-17 14:21:11 »
Has anyone played the Type 0 demo yet? It's pretty good. You can get it from the Japanese site. Obviously it's in Japanese.

It feels like a combination of Crisis Core, The 3rd Birthday, FF8 and FF10.

One of the characters, Celestia, bears a striking resemblance to Jenova:

Sadly it's been stated by Nomura that it probably won't be available outside of Japan. It will be released October 13th.

General Discussion / Sequel to Dirge of Cerberus?
« on: 2011-03-27 14:49:05 »
No, this isn't an announcement.

So I was on another forum, and we were discussing the possibility of another sequel for FF7.

Personally, I don't think there's going to be another one, mostly because of the fact that it's been 5 years since Cerberus was released, and there's been nothing. Usually when these things start happening, Square give out hints, like the did with FF13-2.

The secret ending showed that Genesis was back, so that seems to suggest that something else will happen. I'm not sure if Genesis is evil after the ending of Crisis Core though, it seems to me that he only wanted the Gift of The Goddess, which he found to be his pride as a SOLDIER.

General Discussion / Final Fantasy XIII-2 News

Square Enix have just registered a domain name for FF13 2.

Quote
A domain name for Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been registered, it has been revealed.

The web address was issued by a company who previously registered domains for several Square Enix properties, according to UFFSite.net.

It is speculated that an announcement could be made at the firm's Japanese showcase next week.

Last year Square Enix refused to rule out the possibility of a direct sequel to the game.

General Discussion / FF7 has voice acting?

I just came across this on Youtube. Not sure if it's real or not. I doubt that it is, I've never heard that before.

EDIT: Yes, it does! FF7 is the first FF game to have voice acting!

Play the video from your disc to see. You probably don't hear it in game because of the music.

Completely Unrelated / Final Fantasy VII modding community
« on: 2010-12-26 19:26:56 »
I was just reading the wiki, and I read this:

Quote
Whilst it seems like there is very little hope for a remake, dedicated fans have gone through great lengths to settle this global unrest. A Final Fantasy VII PC modding community have spent the best part of about 10 years working on a number of different mods, predominantly for the PC version of Final Fantasy VII. However, some of the modding community have been working on PS versions. The patches that have been created have been known to improve both the Audio/Visual experience as well as the gameplay.

I thought "Ooh, someone's linked to Qhimm." But when I clicked on it, I was brought here:

http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/

Who's site is this? Should I remove the link and replace it with Qhimm?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I've seen so many FF7 project sites it's hard to keep track.

Completely Unrelated / 14 Games that changed the World
« on: 2010-11-25 12:10:48 »
Saw this on another forum. Some guy from Yahoo games made a list of what he thinks are the games that changed the world. Our FFVII is in there at number 9 (Goes in order of release date)

Quote
Computer games have been changing our entertainment outlook for over three decades. We take a look at the gobsmacking moments that wrote history.

Perhaps the greatest aspect of computer and video games is that they are ever evolving, constantly surprising. Just when you think you’ve seen and done it all, something genuinely new and different arrives. Narrowing down so much history into a short list has been tricky to say the least. We’re sure to have missed out games that you care about and believe made just as significant an impact. Even so, we’re confident that the names you’ll see here reflect the very best of what has been, influencing what is to come, and we’d love to hear from you about others worth adding to the roster.

1.- Pong (Atari, Arcade, 1972) The infamous bat and ball game to light up television screens like never before. Although simple, the magic of ‘Pong’ is that it remains playable even to this day. Our first experience was the ‘Tele-Sports’ home console version that boasted “three different sounds” to “provide play-action realism”.

2.- Space Invaders (Taito, Arcade, 1978) Famously depriving the Japanese banks of small change, ‘Space Invaders’ was the first videogame phenomenon, paving the way for the likes of ‘Donkey Kong’ and ‘Pac-Man’. In its day the graphics were incredible, with bug-ugly aliens and flying saucers to shoot. It sounded amazing too.

3.- Tetris (Nintendo, Game Boy, 1990) Of the many versions that came before and after, nothing topped ‘Tetris’ on Game Boy for addictive quality, helped along by its radical portability. The game requires nothing more than the slotting together of simple-shaped blocks, but they arrive randomly at increasing speed. This was genius.

4.- Doom (id Software, PC, 1994) We know that ‘Wolfenstein 3D’ came first, but ‘Doom’ introduced the concept of multiplayer first-person-shooting to the masses. It has a universally popular theme of mankind versus the forces of evil, a dilemma taken care of by finding the biggest gun and honing skills to dodge and shoot.

5.- Mario 64 (Nintendo, Nintendo 64, 1996) When the world’s most recognisable videogame mascot popped from 2D to 3D it was almost too good to be true. Retailers at the time reported grown men crying upon the sight of it. Since Mario got to run, jump and climb in all directions there have been untold copycat games to endure.

6.- Tomb Raider (Core Design, Sega Saturn, 1996)
This was not only a superb action game, but the first to champion a female lead protagonist adored by men and women alike. Lara Croft is now a household name thanks to her Indiana Jones style adventuring on consoles and finding a place on the cover of numerous 1990s style magazines.

7.- Gran Turismo (Polyphony, PlayStation, 1998) With the realistic simulation of 180 beautiful cars Sony transformed the image of PlayStation from child’s play into the stuff of grown men’s dreams. You really had to learn how to drive the cars in ‘Gran Turismo’, passing license tests before earning enough cash to own heaven on wheels.

8.- Metal Gear Solid (Konami, PlayStation, 1998) One particular adversary made ‘Metal Gear Solid’ beyond brilliant for its time, a character that could move the DualShock controller using the power of his mind! But it was the stealth element that made ‘Metal Gear Solid’ famous, allowing you to drink in the detail while you sneaked around.

9.- Final Fantasy VII (Square, PlayStation, 1998) With one particular heart-breaking scene this game pulled at the heart strings and was therefore unforgettable. There were also the landmark cinematic cut-scenes that seamlessly transitioned into interactive scenarios, and a colossal eco-quest boasting wonderful heroes and wretched villains.

10.- Halo: Combat Evolved (Bungie, Xbox, 2001) Although first-person-shooters were nothing new to consoles, ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ proved they could be done just as well than on PCs, and proved monumental. It heralded the arrival of Xbox, giving Microsoft a strong foothold, inspired acclaimed novels, and almost a Peter Jackson movie.

11.- World of Warcraft (Blizzard, PC, 2005) More than a game, ‘World of Warcraft’ (‘WOW’) has become a vocation for its most dedicated fans. It presents a persistent world of fantasy and magic in which you ride out as a wide range of mythical beings to combat the monsters of Azeroth or fight player versus player on a massive scale.

12.- Wii Sports (Nintendo, Wii, 2006) Nintendo was first to wave its magic wand with a ground-breaking new console and the must-have game along with it, ‘Wii Sports’. You use authentic gestures to play tennis, bowling and boxing using motion-control instead of complicated buttons. As with ‘Pong’ the appeal is timeless.

13.- FarmVille (Zynga, Facebook, 2009) The social experience of ‘FarmVille’ keeps its devotees hooked; a cute farm simulation it may be but that’s only half the story. It is the dip-in for 10 minutes formula that keeps ‘FarmVille’ compelling, with coffee breaks dedicated to ploughing, planting, harvesting, and raising live stock to sell.

14.- Kinect Adventures (Microsoft, Xbox 360, 2010) Okay, it hasn't changed the world yet but it could do. By using a full-body motion-sensing and sound recognition device ‘Kinect Adventures’ lets you take control without the need for any controller. The results are astonishing, as uncanny as when we first tried Wii, with players jumping, ducking and reaching in all directions to overcome fun obstacles.
What else should be on this list?
These are the games that changed everything for us. Feel free to shout for ones that you feel are sorely missing, or to share memories of the ones already on the list.

LOL Farmville xD

Well guys, its possible. The characters CAN follow you around just like in FF8.

Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKQxToCFP-k

Screens:

How does this work?
Well, remember the man in Corel Prison that follows Cloud around? Its basically just an extension of that code. Instead of following Cloud, 1 character is programmed to follow Character 0 (the controlled character) and the other is programmed to follow character 1. I did have them both following character 0 at one point, but they kept clashing with each other. It will work with any character that is the leader.

I *Think* its possible to control whoever is in the top character slot. I'll have to look into that more. In the meantime, you may discuss this. :)

General Discussion / Hojo's strangeness
« on: 2010-06-05 17:25:05 »
I've noticed a few things about Hojo in my current play through of FF7 that i find incredibly strange:

Breeding Aeris and Red XIII

How does he plan to do that? They are completely different species, so how will they be able to? Unless he means like combining DNA?

How can he not recognise his own specimens?

This one I find really weird too. Zack and Cloud were escaped test subjects a few weeks before FF7 starts, then when Cloud appears, Hojo has no idea who he is. Cloud has to tell him half way through the game.

When you find him in Costa del sol, they way he greets Aeris is rather strange "Oh, you must be that ancient". That sounds to me like they haven't really met before. What I find even stranger is that he doesnt know Ifalna is dead.

Sun bathing in suit

Yeah, this one got me :P How can he possibly get a tan wearing a big suit like that, AND have women around him? ???

Open chat is where you can chat with anyone on the forum, about anything that does not really need a thread of its own. For example you can just talk about your day, your plans for the weekend, and get to know other members.

Try to keep this spam free, and I hope this turns out well.

Do not reveal anything really personal, such as where you live, or phone numbers etc. This is a public forum remember.

Do not just post smilies, put some depth into your post

NO attacks on other members please, a discussion is nice, but not when you start flinging nasty insults around.

If this thread gets out of hand, I WILL delete it. Thats why i posted it in this section. You can also delete your own post if you feel it was rather harsh/unnecessary.

Ok so...just to get this started, I've had a good day Today, got out of College early, and spent like 2 hours walking home when i could have just got a bus that takes 15 mins :P Oh wellll :)
