[FF7PC] Savegame Compilation
« on: 2009-08-23 01:07:29 »
**FINAL RELEASE**

Hello all, I've been lurking Qhimm forums for years but never made an account because I never knew how to contribute to the community since I'm no programmer/modder (awful art skills :P).

This is a compilation of all the possible save spots through the game for the community testing purposes or simply for people who want to play the game at a certain part. I started doing saves of all the savepoints through the story before and after events happen.

Particular stuff in my playthrough:
-All sidequests done as soon as they are available (except gold saucer battle square).
-All weapons bought as soon as they are available and none sold through the story, some stolen for early availability.
-Didn't grind much, the levels at each savegame are average from fighting almost everything it comes in my way.
-Mainly used red XIII and Vincent.
-Didn't save between minor things like getting equipment, getting enemy skills etc.
-Didn't bought the villa
-There's an easter egg for the community hidden somewhere...

Most saves may be redundant and/or not useful but I just wanted to have a compilation of every possible save.

Rough description of the saves (Sorry if some area names are not exactly accurate, I play with the Spanish version):

Thanks to NFITC1 for the bonus saves! here's what he had to say about them:
The Gold Saucer scenes are all from the same spot in the game with the love points edited using JENOVA SGE. Also, all characters have max stats and a lot of stuff they shouldn't have. These saves were for the scene only. They aren't really meant to be starting points for the rest of the game or anything.

-Shinra building floor 69 before boss
-*MISSING* Before motorcycle event
I don't think you can save between the Rufus fight and the motorcycle game. After you save, you have the elevator boss, then Rufus, then when you go downstairs, it goes straight to the cutscene that precedes the motogame, IIRC.

isn't there a save point by the elevator? When you are playing as Aeris/th i think it was.

Yes you can make a save between Rufus and the motorcycle but I just passed by and the minigame started so I left the spot for redoing that bosses again and fill it with the missing savegame, I just haven't done it yet XD laziness...

heh... this is a pretty nice little compilation, and is likely to be very useful :P.

when i mod stuff though, i like to work my way through testing everything as if i was someone else playing it, so i can catch potential issues easier (and just make specific saves as i go, so i still have my previous team, a team built in the current game's layout, to test the changes), but to jump to any specific spot would be nice to test many other things, outside of battles .

Thanks for the kind comments! I'm finishing disc 1, updated first post. I hope I get enough save slots because only disc 1 has eaten half of the slots xD
I've missed again another savepoint that is the one before the date, in my game I date Tifa btw.
Only temple and forest left and disc 1 will be done, the other discs will take longer because in a few days I have exams but I finish early september so I'll work on them by then. Also note that I'm not doing battle square, Its the only sidequest not done as it becomes available (except for the pagoda one).

One thing that I was doing with my compilation was I had all three Don Corneo scenes and all four dates saved right before. If you want these I can give them to you in one save. Add it to the compilation as a sort of "bonus" slot.

Yeah i was saving the last slot for 'extra' saves like that after i finish all the game, but it would be nice if you could pass me them in the last slot, thanks for the help :). Also if you come up with more saves than just the playthrough just say it and i will gladly add them to the compilation.

Disc 1 is more than half of the game. Disc 2 is a few distractions before they get back to the plot, and Disc 3 is the northern crater, which I assume only got its own disc because the final few battles need all that space for special effects and summons.

there is a third disk because the movies were too big, the regular data is identical on all three, you "could"play the third disk on disk one if it wasn't for the movies (though IIRC you can still swap disks during the movie calling and have it load whichever disk's movie, and continue like nothing happened on a different disk :P).

disk one just happens to have the least movies per story part, disk two has much more movies, and disk three is just the leftover movies, all of them share movies like the gold saucer lift, the junon elevators, etc though.

Disc 1 is complete, I will finish the other 2 in a few weeks, battle square 'unique' prizes don't dissapear when you switch discs right?

Disc 1: Mostly generic repeatable movies with a few unique ones like the pan shot of Junon, the opening mission, most of the midgar related ones

Disc 2: Also repeatable ones plus the ones related to getting huge materia and WEAPONs and the key of the ancient's

Disc 3: repeatable ones again; Ending FMV is probably the only unique one here, but it's pretty long. *Lots of final dungeon-specific animation data only on this disc.

* - This is not true for the PC version. All the magic pieces are compressed into the magic.lgp and can be accessed at any time (eg. Guard Scorpion could do Super Nova if the background was correct). The only difference is the FMVs. Also, the PC executable can be easily changed to ignore disc changes (I have this on mine, but I'm not telling how to do it) as long as the maximum install was used.

Little update to the savegames just to say I am stuck at the corel train event. I dont know what happens when I try to stop the train my keyboard doesnt work, not with my key configuration nor with the original configuration... If someone could kindly take my saves and go past that part it would be very nice, just steal the eagle the warrior bangle, get the best prize on the event and save outside corel in the next slot.

EDIT: Fixed

Yeah, but the debug room is a real pain, especially when you go into the wrong room by mistake. This makes things nice and easy. Also, I presume that the party members will be at normal levels and have normal equipment relative to their point in the game, which is convenient for people making hardcore mods.

yeah, i quite like this.
Because all the save game collections i can find, have the entire party at level 99, all the materia is mastered, and the gil is at max...
Like when my PC crashed and i wanted to play from the beginning of disc two again, i had to start all over, due to all the save games had cheats.
>.>

and i never quite learned how to work the debug room... and Jenova couldn't reverse all the affects... of a "cheated" game...
so yeah.

This is really helpful.
Thanks!
:D

Almost finishing disc 2. Im fine with the slots i have 2 more, thats 30 savegames more that i can spend on finishing the game and adding bonus stuff as NFITC1 suggested. Also i made a useless chocobo progression with savegames just for fun, there's also a hidden easter egg for the community hidden somewhere...
Now that I'm coming to the end do you suggest anything? let the weapons live? put the savegame item in an specific location? etc

Here's the final release of the compilation, there is a savegame left but is the 'all mastered materia uber lvl' etcetc and you can find plenty of that savegames anywhere so i wont add it soon. Should this be on Miles server?
