Nice interface; kudos on the sprites extracted from FF8.

I don't have much experience modifying save games from console games, but I've got a little problem. The program looks very interesting, but when copying save files over from the PSN version of FF8 onto a USB drive, I get ".PSV" files, which arent even recognised by Hyne. Furthermore, Hyne says that PSN save files are actually ".VMP" files, which is weird. Am I doing something wrong, or is PSV the same as VMP?

EDIT: On closer inspection, Hyne's asking for the entire PSN memory card, not just the individual saves. I have no idea how to copy them over to USB drive though. Any idea?

EDIT2: It also looks like you can't save to anything but the FF8PC save format. Is that just because I haven't loaded a save file?

After a little bit more snooping on the web, I've concluded that Hyne doesn't have support for save files from the PS3 PSN version. Would you kindly add load/save support for the .psv format, please, myst6re? Would be epic!

EDIT: Using my PSP to transfer saves using the vmp format didn't work so well. When I saved it again, the PS3 thought it was corrupted D:
EDIT2: Confirmed that Hyne definately corrupts vmp files...I think. (I hate that i just spent a good 30 minutes setting up all the levels and magics etc exactly how I wanted, and because it corrupted I now have to do it all again)

...Actually, the corruption may have been because I was trying to give squall seifer's weapon, would it do that?

sithlord48:
Wait a moment, I think I'll update soon :D.

Elio2690:
I am not a save database ^^. But... okay : ff8-001.mcr

NCS:
For the moment I do not know create saves for the PSN. But I'm rewriting my code to minimize the corrupt of saves.

To all:
I found some serious problems that are likely to destroy the saves, be sure to make copies of your files, as with Griever :P.

New version, Hyne opens PS3 PSN format, but psv and vmp format are protected by a checksum, it only works on hacked PSP (in theory).

Got to admit this is one of the best looking, complete and more organized save game editors I've seen. ;D

New version (1.2):
  • Add "Hidden" option in Miscellaneous > Party > Party Order
  • Fix a bug with "character available" option
  • Removing dlls (windows only)
  • Edit memory card header and restores deleted saves now work

Edit 1: I found a bug with the "Hidden" option. I'll fix that soon.
Edit 2: Bug fixed in v1.2.

Does .PSV/.VMP editing work properly without corruption yet? Or would you like me to test it out?

Vmp format consists of a 128-byte header (with checksum) followed by the raw memorycard (<=> mcr format).
For *.psv there is a big checksum too. These formats are highly protected, I can't do anything .

Yes, the PS3 saves are digitally signed. You have to generate a new key which Sony only knows how to do.
