Title: [PSX/PC] init.out editor - Quezacotl (v1.0.0)
Post by: alexfilth on 2016-09-07 11:58:15
I was tired of hex editing init.out so i decided of doing an editor for this as well   :-P

Quezacotl is an editor developed in C# for the FF8 init.out, this file is loaded when starting a new game.

Thanks to Maki for his help with text, Melchior1 for allowing me to use his Quezacotl image and to myst6re for the documentation of the save format and Hyne.

This software requires .NET Framework 4.6 to run.

Hum I think I've done something wrong with my init.out  :(

Edit: I've double checked my init.out and didn't find an error. Maybe a problem with the french version ?

I've tried with a fresh init.out and I have the same issue, it must be an incompatibility with the french version.

not only that , this editor corrupted the init.out for the english steam version of final fantasy 8, and all i did was to fucking barely mod the amount of initial items possessed god fucking damn it

Let's not forget that everyone here is a volunteer, and nobody owes you, or anyone, anything. I recommend reading or re-reading the rules (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=11578.0), specifically the "don't be a d*ck" part. Warned for now, please be more patient in the future. -Vgr

fuck you, if you all want people to be polite and gentle then stop to be careless , not to mention that without those manners there isn't a way to be listened to , so yeah fuck you and your stupid statement , also just because none is forced to do anythong it doesn't mean that people can be a careless assholes , in any case i discovered the problem , it isn't this program , it is the deling script program that corrupt the file sometimes if you inject the modded file after deleting the previous one instead of use the replace button

also your precious rules are fucking useless if they aren't even designed to prevent people to be careless so not respectful at all and to do all kind of stupid things just because they aren't using a bad word you idiot so no i won't respect a rule that is only mean to prevent the only thing i can do to make everyone notice what's the problem

Init.out can be found inside main.fs, which is in FINAL FANTASY VIII\Data\lang-en.
You can open it using FF8 Archive Commander to see init.out inside, after you finish editing you can insert it using the same program.

Is this file the default save file for ff8 ? If so I could just add the option to open this file in Hyne.

I think you could open a new post asking about it, cause its about something different from this post's content.

No it's a file in main.fs which is read by the game when you begin a new game. It's quite diferent from the save file.

exactly and it is way better than the save editor because it permanently modify the game as you prefer and it doesn't conflict with anything  :D , still this great program need an update since the window doesn't have the transition bar to do in the bottom of the page

Could you clarify in the original post what exactly this is, and how it works with the PSX version? Seems like a save editor to me.

Can you throw together a tl;dr five step bullet list on how to use it to edit memory card files or what have you if that's what it does?
