In fact I'm not so experienced in 3D, I learned it at home, it's just a hobby.
The software I use is Maya 2013 and I render with Mentalray. The main lightning in this scene are the lightspot, and I tried to make some sun ray passing through the windows on the left. For the outdour scene, it is a simple Physical sun and sky.

I can make clean work when it is just the modeling, but when the texturing/rendering/lightning comes, it takes me days and days to test differentes setting, but I never obtain the result I want.

Another problem is that I overcharge my scene, now it's very slow and difficult to work. (But I just receive my new computer, I can't wait to test it  :) )

Hi,
I didn't plan at all to include my modelisation into the game when I started the 3D Costa Del Sol,the background didn't fit when I tried to insert it in the game, but I made some  editing to fix it, and here is the result:



There are yet some bugs ingame, I really had a lot of trouble to insert the background, especially with the different piece you have to cut before inserting with Palmer.

Now I'm working on Bar Del Sol, I tried to respect the original background this time, I did not inserted it in the game yet but I think I will have the same issues with the multiple layers in Palmer.





Some details are missing (like the wetsuit), and I m not totally satisfied with the lightning for the moment

Ah so I assume that you speak french? Yeah it was so bad that we couldn't understand correctly the story, until now, the most french speaker don't know the correct story of the game. The guy who launch the project is Acro, the creator of http://ff7.fr/ (the biggest encyclopedia of FF7 that exists on the world, I think  ;D ) , the patch is almost finished, I can't wait! He even restored 2 missing quest of the game.

About costa Del sol,  now that I have a fresh Maya 2012+ an interessant render engine (VRay 2.0) , I think I will continue.
It's not finished, but here's a pic, just for fun  :)

I really don't like the wood texture :-\

yes Les Marronniers with 2 N, but this mistake is nothing compared to the whole french translation of FF7  :-D Fortunately we have a mega fan who retranslate the game from japanse, we will have soon a new experience of the game :)
Nice modelisation guys, each time I see new work here, I want to continue mine

oh yes!! We can see the same surfing board under the "BEACH" neon. I thought that it was a strange conic plant, a sort of modern artistic decoration  :-P

thank you. I had the Kusanagi Artworks, but I lost them wit my HDD. I should find them, it could help me for futur modelisations.

Ah Tollen, I wanted to modelize this background, I don't know why, but I love it. When I played the game, I was absolutely certain that there was something special in the safe  :-D Your work is verry clean, well done!

I have modeled the costa del sol background but initialy it was not for the game. I decided to insert it but as I said it was not for the game so all the parts don't fit exactly on the right place but the  result is not bad.

Now that I'm able to use the tool (Palmer) I think I will begin another one but with the same size and place of the original.

I'm a Maya user and I can even do 3d model replacement but it's difficul to begin when no tutorial to start is available.

(frankly, is my english good?  :-D sometimes I wonder if people can understand me easily )

Finaly it works .... but with an english version. My french version still doesn't work and I can't find the problem. No matter, I will work with this one .
Now I have to learn how to replace background, that's a different story  :-D

but it says that "choosing additional graphics setting in ff7Config will not affect anything while the driver is active"
I tried software render and direct 3d and the game crash directly when I open it.

Each time I trie to play this PC version, it make me crazy  :|

I removed my speaker and now, the game crash but without error message :-o WTF?

I'm working on a 3D scene of  Costa del Sol and to complet my texturing, I would like to know some details like the writing on barrels or on the pannels.

Here is my WIP

So in order to do that, I would like to  see the 3D model field of Costa Del Sol but I tried Rinoa, mesh2rdm and nothing (Rinoa shows me only one field and mesh2rdm opens some model but no field)
I remember that it's possible but I forgot how I did.
How can I do?

alloy, I'm using Maya 2010 . I take note of what you say. thank you. I'm just a beginner with Maya, I have a lot of things to learn. Lightinig is a little complicated :-[  I red some tutorial but english is not my mother tongue (it's french) so I have to understand by myself and it's not always easy :-\
so if you have some tricks for Maya (like alloy and sl1932) , please tell me.

Mako: I searched for the original pics but they don't available on internet so I put  Fat chocobo from chocobo tales on DS, and two mog I found in google, and then I tried to make the same floor as the original. I made this on photoshop.

I didn't show you because there is a lot of things to do (the lightning is ugly  ;D ) , I realy want to have the correct camera view before à correct the rest. I'll try to use an overlay like sumisu said.

Can you redirect me to a topic that will show me how to insert a background. I decided to make an other background, the costa del sol is in stand by, but I almost finish the entrance of gold saucer. I need to test it in game to see if the camera is well placed and other things like that.
