Ghetto PC A/C Cooling.
« on: 2011-06-24 02:45:18 »
Ok so I changed the inside of my case from this:

To this:

Afterwards I redid the duct tape connections on my ghetto A/C rig:

My idle temps went from 38c on regular air to 26-28c with A/C
My load temps went from 56c on regular air to 42c on A/C (after 20 minutes of Prime95)

If this options available to you, its a good option, as results dont lie.(This is also with bad TIM)

Lemme know what ya think.

either your talking about the bad TIM on the base, or my camera caught bad lighting and made the top of it look dirty...its not.

Im installing a Crosshair V Formula today with some new TIM so all should be well.

That is probably a bad idea, you can start getting condensation in your computer.

Lol I do not disagree, but it does offer massive gains in cooling performance.

Also SL, condensation has been a topic we've discussed heavily at overclock.net, and with the inside of the case being the ambient temperature, the only chance of condensation without vast environmental change(moving it to a warm room, cutting the ac without gradually building up temps etc.

This was never a permanent solution, my ac just happens to be right beside my pc, so I did a little cooling experiment. Im going full water when I get Bulldozer(btw new specs have came out and these are gonna blow SB and IB out of the water!)

Yeah Im going to get a custom water loop built for performance and mount my radiators on the side of my case next to the ac with it blowing directly on them so.... Hopefully Ill get good results.

Im also gonna lap the HELL outta my cpu and waterblocks, make it wafer thin I say!
