Wow!
Square really does their job fast. I think they have multiple teams working on different FF series. Not only they'll get the game out fast, the ideas are all original.

*who is that? an improved version of Siren?*
 :D

hey look at the screen shot of the girl...
shes got one green eye and one blue!! thats messed!! I swear square are giving too much of the plot away (like with ff8-its the same team too making ff10).
you seen the size of the sword the hero's carrying (inthe last pic) nearly as big as cloud's!
square have been obsessed lately with heros with spiked/spikey (ish) hair, dont you think? they all look the same...

I'm not too fond of the new big-assed logo, it'll be tricky to fit into any kind of web design...

Come to think of it, the colors in the logo are nearly identical to the ones I used for my win98 title bars a while ago... It's a small color-space after all

Hey Guys, more about Final Fantasy X:
Battle System(s)?
Story Plots (Locations)?
Main Characters?
Weapons?
For PC?
Any great info (Anything)?

Indeed, FF10 is alike FF8!!!

NO! If this team churns out another FF8, I will almost be unable to forgive Square.

actualy with the same characters designer and the same story man/director, more attention to expressions (like the said for ff8), this has all the ingredients for another ff8 plot flop!!

Tetsuya Nomura also do FF7 and it wasn't a flop. In fact, it's one of my favourite FF title ever ( behind FF5 ). Guess we all just have to wait and see if it just another flop or not.

Indeed. Didn't he use to hold a different position in Square before FF7? Well, I guess we can always hope that Square's glory days aren't behind them...

you know i just saw squares' release schedule on a few fan-sites, and from it i can gather that:
chances of a ff9PC this year will be slim,
'cause they have to have a simulatainios (typo!) release of FFXI - another online world, so thats coming summer 2001 so its going to be out on both pc and psx2, so they'll already be onto that as opposed to ff9pc, but then again ffX will be out in march and europe hasnt even got ff9 yet!!

Thats smooth! And FF8 WASNT A FLOP DAMMIT! LoL i still thought the game was cool... i thought it was great.. you people just dont know!

Caddberry: Sorry for saying this, but you sound like someone who have never played the good old SNES FF games (IV, V, VI). Am I right?
Title: Final Fantasy X Media Released!
Post by: Srethron Askvelhtnod on 2001-01-14 21:36:00
Cadberry: Maybe it wasn't a flop in terms of sales... That's really the only way I can see it avoiding the "flop" category. Square had such a good rep until FF8. If FFX is another flop, hopefully Square will finally have another flop (sales) so they learn a few lessons.

Actually No .. ur wrong.. I played FF V.. didnt beat that one.. VI VII VIII IX and beat all those.. and i played ff on the OLD Nes cant remember much though  :) oh and Even the old Dragon Warrior with no movement at all basically a text game with movement on the world map and in towns.. yeah ff8 had some problems but think Square has a majority of people (BUYERS) that want graphics and not story. it sucks.. yeah FF VI was a great game.. lots of time on that one.. but They probably were under lotsa pressure to release FF8 and it was crap they had never dealt with b4. technology is moving so fast that they probably have a hard time keeping up with it.. everyone does.. they are looking to make the majority happy too much. i think more so than the people that are diehards for story and plot.. yes FF8 was a little plot dead, but they had alot of loveable characters in it.. you just didnt get that attached.. not like in the others though.. i just enjoyed ff8 it was a decent change and thats why i cant just say it was crappy.. i thought it was good. and i enjoyed playing it and beating the crap out of it.. and i am sure i will do it again.

Cadberry: I think you are wrong here. Most FF fans, especially in Japan, don't give a damn about graphics but care more about story, etc. There's a lot of of people buying FF VIII of course, but also there's many people who have returned their copy of FF8 because they say it's not what they wanted. FF series are successful because not only their stunning graphics, but also of kick-ass story ( which were severely lacking in FF VIII ) and good music.

ok yeah you got a point.. However In the states where i live.. We didnt even get all the FF Series.. because square didnt think it would sell .. i guess... I played the origional on nintendo.. then forgot about it and picked it up from a friend.. but everyone else found out about it when it went mainstream with FF7 and 8 and now 9.. most people havent played many b 4 that.. unless they just pick them up and play them for fun.. So see there is a time here when square was a little company and this is before they attracted everyone with graphics.. and ... ok fine.. the sound wasnt all that.. But i dont care none the less i still like the game.. for all its faults.

I totally agree with cHiBiMaRuKo....I like FF7 more than FF8, mainly bacause of the story line and the music...there are DAMN GOOD. While FF8 proves otherwise (not so bad though)...the movies in FF8 are cool...I wish they would make a FF7 remake using FF8 technology.

I'd say cHiBiMaRuKo hit it right on the nose. Even when Square was still a "small" company, they did have at least one popular game in the States. Chrono Trigger. I believe it even won some game of the year awards. I actually think a big part of Square's current problems are due to them moving from Nintendo to Sony. I'm not trying to get into an argument about Nintendo vs Sony, but I think that once they got involved with Sony, things started deteriorating.

i dont see whats so great about the ff8 graphics. sure, the bits where it plays an fmv while having characters on screen was better quality, and the characters could do more and were more life like. but in ff8 u couldnt tell from someone's nose to their knob. i cant stand the blocky pixel skins, its like the resy evil graphics. well, at least on the psx, with a good graphics card the pc one could be amazing. oh well, the psx owners will know what i mean.

I am as old a Final Fantasy fan as any expert on this board. I've been playing since the first game, beat it, loved it. And then I played, beat and loved the rest of them. However, I haven't played the FF2 or FF3 for the Famicom. But the remaining installments I have truly enjoyed. Even FF Mystic Quest. That game is so underrated.
Anyways...
(Semi-spoiler?)
I can understand how people say FF7 is better than FF8. In FF7, you had Sephiroth. He did lots of stuff that made you angry. Some people were downright pissed off. In FF8, the last boss didn't really do anything to piss you off. FF6 had the awesome Kefka, FF5 had Exdeath, FF4 had Zeromus/Zemus. But the last boss of FF8 just didn't reach the standard of "evil-bossishness" I have not yet played through FF9, I'm on disc 3. It sure is looking promising, though. I have a rough idea who I'll be fighting at the end, and that character did some pretty wicked shit. Something to make your blood boil.

Heh, my two cents ;D

We just seem to keep coming back to this don't we? I pretty much agree with you, though. FF8 is by and large a disappointment. Enough said.

HEY!!! FINAL FANTASY 8 IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN EARTH. It dosen't uses mp dosen't mean that it sucks. It is considered as the 'Black Sheep' of all FF games. Yes. The team who made FF8 is out again making FF10.

IN earth?????? IN.......

Hmmm, does that mean it's dead and buried? Best game of the dead and buried.....?

Really I'm just poking some fun....actually....I liked FF8, but FF7 has more replay value, to me, than FF8 does.

But I like FF8, mainly because, I can relate to Squall.....I guess you need a messed up childhood to get into the storyline of FF8.

It's the story that makes a good FF game. Not, really the battle engine . And so far I think FF7 has the best story..... So, MP has very little to do with it.

I agree with you neoblaze. Ultamecia was just not evil enough for an end of game boss. It's like Darth Maul on Star Wars he was a little girl compared with Darth Vador and just was not evil enough to be the main bady. I wish I could have played Seifer at the end of FF8 cause he realy pissed me off!  :x

No joey, you are just insane because ff8 does Not rock! If I had never played the rest I suppose it would have been good but ff8 pales in comparison. Sure  the graphics were good but graphics aren't all that make a game

...and the graphics sucked as well. I have yet to see a single FF game with good graphics.

(don't come here with FMVs...they don't make a game)

Joey: A shop in S&M near Kotaraya, KL sell one. But be prepared to pay outrageous prices. Order online, as I have always do is better.

dagsverre: FMVs make the game too if you ask me. Well, ePSXe will make FF look better than on a PS.

heheh I just had to get registered for this one.  Well Final Fantasy 8 was a great game in my opinion.  Plus it had that one thing that attracted people to it (other than it being a Final Fantasy): the FMV's of course.  I remember when I was playing Final Fantasy 7 and all my little siblings were watching me and didn't really pay much attention to it because it didn't look good and they were to young to understand the game.  But when I saw the intro to Final Fantasy 8 I just had to show and tell everyone I knew about it.   They were in awe and they watch me play the game ALMOST everytime I played it which got annoying after a while so I told them to get their own copy.  And they did.  This game was my favorite mainly because I'm a sap for love stories and great graphics and FMV's.  So what I think Finaly Fantasy 8 did was attract more people (with one of the best intro's ever made) and a new kind of Final Fantasy game.

FF8 isn't that great, I'd have to say probably because there's no "villan" 'til the very end of the game, and the magic system takes too much time (draw, draw, draw), and the Junction thing is just too @#$% complicated compared to some other stuff.

Just finished FF9 in ePSXe, it rules!  FF7, 6, 4 do too (never really liked 5 much).  1, 2, 3 on NES, I've played but I can't get myself to like them after playing the SNES or PSX ones.

ANYWAY

Look at FFX, this is dumb.  The main character bears a striking resemblance to Squall......  The main female character looks almost exactly like Rinoa...  That not enough for you?  Head to http://ps2.ign.com/  and look for the FFX preview and you'll see someone who looks just like Selphie...

Grr

I'm sorry, but I'm one of the people who play games for the graphics. However, if the story sucks, I don't play it very much after I beat it.

To me, FF8 looked spectacular. To this day, (I haven't played FF9, so I'm not counting it. Call me a PC buff.) it is by far the best looking FF game yet.

However... The storyline was WAY too straight forwards, and you guys are right: Ultimacia didn't really feel like the bad guy. Plus their didn't seem to be much time to run around and have fun until just before the final battle with Ultimica.

IMO, FF7's story was twisted, devious, and unexpected. IE: The perfect story. LOTS of replay value, and lots of time just to enjoy the rich, wonderful world Square made for us. The story is only slightly better that 6, which is also high on my FF Fav list. (7, 6, 8. Haven't played 2, 3, 4, or 5 all the way through yet. And nobody ever counts the Gameboy FFs.)

Bottom line: FF7's story is WAY better than FF8, but FF8 dominates FF7 in graphics.

The PSX one is every bit as challenging as the translated ROM, but, get the ROM, the translation is better.

Yeah well....they need to cut that out. Just about everyone, in the gaming community, knows what FF is, now. What they should have done was add a difficulty option, instead of just cutting it up.
