yeah it is by ID, I hoped you knew where they were but I am guessing it is in the exe...  afterall it is a menu part :)  I will get Kranmer on it.

9252
I mean when you are in the actual game, in the item menu and you select to arrange by NAME.  If you have changed item names it still arranges by the original alphabetical order.

9253
Hi, is there any way to get the customisation by Alphabetical order (Name) working properly when you edit item names?

I am assuming it will take some hex edits somewhere?

I use DUP2 (shown to me by Kranmer), that will create patches for you.  It isn't too difficult to use either.  Only bad thing is there are a few false positives with virus scanners.

Well little piece of information.  The Menu mod by me and Kranmer will be merging with the Battle menu mod.

I think Kranmer wants to keep a separate installer as well, but when things are more polished and ready, I will add the battle/battle arena changes to this installer and the retranslation project installer, as an option.

That way the project will feel like 1 completed mod.  For now I am finishing the retranslation menu mod to compliment the normal game menu mod.  It should all be done tonight.  004 will be the last update until I merge with Kranmer's mod.

We have not been able to fix the credit screen at the start.  All that needs changing is the timing of new text onto the screen and possibly the font.

9256
Got a link?  I will add it to the menu project.  Still... I dont know how much Aali plans on adding to his driver.  A lot of these additions and mods could be placed into the driver options.

Troubleshooting / Re: Bringing Back Deleted Scenes?
« on: 2010-10-31 22:42:40 »
Half those scenes have no dialogue when you bring them back and a lot of the removed stuff simply doesn't work with the game.  When I started retranslation I had the idea of placing back some of the text but the situations and sometimes characters don't even sound right or work.

what change for the original menu??
sorry for my bad english

What change?  Install it and you will see  8)

You will find as time goes on that every project is going to interfere with another.... That's just how it is.  I am making my own hardcore mod but it will be the traditional game as opposed to custom made ideas like a battle for summon materia.

The reason I don't care much for FF8 modding is because the translation was decent (well, it still had mistake sbut nothing like 7), the graphics are reasonable, the gameplay is decent...

The only thing I would add is that it needs a ff8music :P

9263
Assuming the source archive is not corrupt, yes you will have to.

The tissue is a consolation prize, for the player to cry into because he lost :P  As for "better dog food"  that was added by english localisation.

I have recent drivers but seems 7th series nvidia cards and lower have issues.  Aali solve dmy issue yesterday with these new dumbed down shaders.

Oh well :)

I didn't think gambits were awesome at all.  I think that is the single worst system I have ever seen short of full AI.  The idea of a game is to actually play it.  Watching your characters mindlessly slash about because you added a poxy "fight if HP >2000" is not my idea of well thought out.  I made it through 12 with 2 gambits fight and cure.  That's it.

If a game with turn based strategy requires you to keep pushing X it is not because the system is flawed but because the difficulty and the design is flawed.  There are numerous things in 7 that keep you occupied, from enemy skills to summons, all of which you choose.  X was a step forward because you could even control the summons.,

12 was a step back because it took control away from you and 13 was the joke of the planet because it took 2 characters away from you completely and even had an auto fight option.

Dumbed down springs to mind.

Well for some reason the game just crashes.  I dunno why.  There must be another file it needs or some other problem.  I will try and find out.

Although it is doubtful I will be making a Spanish version anytime soon.  If I do, it will just be 1 option since having 5 choices creates a monumental task.  If anyone else wants to use our mod and edit it to fit, I am all for that too.

Well, I suggest to add monitor refresh rate configuration, 'cause 60Hz is not cool.
I wrote about this in the previous thread.
Thx for fixing screensavers problem!

You are mistaken.  There is a difference between your monitor refresh rate and a game "frames per second".   FF7 runs at maximum 60 frames a second and it doesn't matter what your refresh rate is that is how it has to be.  The game is limited to 60 by its internal workings.  60fps is cool in fullscreen mode, it will provide sufficient smoothness and gameplay for FF7.  FF7 is limited to 15fps in battles, 60fps in menus and 30fps on world map and field.  It is sufficient for this game (with exception of battle fps which is being changed to 60 for other reasons).

Your monitor refresh rate has nothing to do with it.  In Fullscreen mode, 60Hz monitor RR  is good with 60fps gameplay, and infact Vsync will work towards this. I am not sure how FF7 works in fullscreen mode but I am guessing it forces your refresh rate to 60 to match the game, and that would be a correct way for this game to operate.

It is Kranmer's battle mod.  I will be working with him later to get the alignment issues fixed up.  It is his baby and I don't want to muscle in but getting the text placement consistent with the menu will probably require the 2 of us, since I have designed the menu mod a certain way.  The Battle arena is also included with his mod.  Whether we can merge the 2 together in 1 installer is something which is up to Kranmer.  I am all for it...

Get me a proper mockup of the left hand menu, how you want it exactly to the correct proportions, and I will see about making a special edit at the very end.  Use the new side menu in your mock up.

Still a problem.

high-sp.lgg
and snowboard_sp.lgp

those must be the reason.  I hope it isn't because I am using flevel.lgp english.

Anyway send those 2 and we will see.

Also note to people.  Cursor in main dialogue may be off when using Team Avalanche graphics.  This will be sorted later.

I forgot...  I will need a number of your game files too.  I can't remember which though...  probably world_**.lgp and menu_**.lgp for certain.

and CD folder disc_**.lgp and cr_**.lgp

and Kernel.bin and Kernel2.bin.

6 files.

If anyone has any idea of anything else I will need, let me know....

Yeah but none of those have been on hardware which allows for the same freedom as the PS3...  since games have gone onto next generation consoles with the power of the PS3, the quality has gone down while the graphics have gone up....

is compatible with other languages?? spanish for example

No...  Sadly it isn't.  It will change the exe of other languages correctly in terms of basic alignment, but much of the foreign exe's will come out very poorly in a lot of areas...  words of different lengths will mean the alignment will look poor or end up going into graphics etc.

I have no plans to make one for other languages since the effort required is ridiculous.  I have nothing against someone using what we have done and making amendments.  Send me the Spanish exe and I will look at how it is.
