So i did everything the install tutorial told me, had ff7 installed to a non program file location, did the converter, messed with the configuration, all that stuff. But I cannot get the game to work properly. Whenever I launch the game, the opening movies don't play, instead giving me a black screen, the New game/Load Game screen has the regular background instead of the modded one, and if I use the renuion mod, the text is messed up. selecting to start a new game causes a black screen. Pressing ctrl-s to skip the opening movie will then skip over it, but the screen will still be black, but the sound effects of the train and people jumping off it and such still play.
This happens when launching with both the 7th Heaven launcher and directly with the ff7.exe in both install locations. I've gone over the configurations a few times and im fairly certain they're correct.
After leaving the computer off for a while, i came back, messed with the resolution thing some, because i noticed i put it in wrong, and tried again. This time it worked perfectly, until I skipped the starting movie. The game played normally and all the sound effects were playing, but the music wasn't playing. So I quit out of it and looked around to make sure I had the right Music settings in the FF7Config. When trying to launch the game again, it went back to the old behavior.
