Troubleshooting / An idea for clouds Ultima Weapon.

I don't know how to rename it, but -

I know you can do this with Borde's kimera editor; i've replaced several of Aeris's staves with different weapons.Thing is, i don't QUITE remember how to do it...you might try asking in that topic though.

i saw it (the ARC version) in the local Gameworks 6 months back or so, i was suprised as hell. i didn't get a chance to play it, but i think the demo had cloud in it.

i also rented it 3 or 4 years ago.

as a fighting game, it was very average, and the graphics were pretty poor even for that time. there was an rpg mode, but it wasn't very good either. the only redeeming factor was the FF7 characters.

Well, here is it. It took me longer than I expected, but here you have the new version. The most important feature added is the direct polygon painting.
By the way chocomog, are the files edited with my program still usable as battle models?

well, i get a runtime error 13 - type mismatch when i try to save after editing, so no, they're not exactly usable >_>

the overflow error on fat/thin still occurs for me.

oh and uh, one more thing, if you're still working on this...the repositioning seems a lot more meant for field models than battle models. it takes several uses of -100 or +100 to have a significant effect...

the brighter/darker thing works well though, as does the resize option (for battle/field conversion).

wow, thank you for the long help post ^_^. i just got back home; i'll try it out tonight (though its past midnight...hmm) and see if it works.

EDIT: w00t, it works now! the problem was that I intentionally corrupted a few of the files in order to make them invisible, which worked before, but when making an lgp, the game didn't like that. this time I used borde's editor to make something really small, so it was as good as invisible.

er, this one seems to have some problems saving. it will only actually save if it asks to save normals or whatever, and that prompt only seems to happen if you make something fatter or thinner, if you don't do that, then it won't actually save any changes. maybe i missed something though...

also, the dreaded overflow error is fixed when loading or rotating models ^_^

but...it occurs when making something fat/thin :( only on certain models though. examples include jemnezmy's torso and feet models. this might be because i've been editing them (with your editor) though.

It worked!...kinda. Thanks to Reunion's instructions, the game loads all three textures now, but it still crashes after battle. Based on what Alhexx said, I think its because the game detects that Aeris doesn't have the right number of files anymore and crashes...

How do I change the number of models each file has? Aeris has 42 (I think, not including aa, ae (which I added) or da) files, but I couldn't find 42 or 2A  anywhere in the rvaa file.

BTW reunion how'd you know it was in the 0x18 offset? that was genius o_O

thank you all for your help so far.

I have two questions:
On alhexx's site, on the .p file description, there's all this stuff like number of normals, textures, vertices, etc...this is gonna sound noobish, but how do you get to all that stuff? I tried notepad, and it didn't work...

and I've been trying to make Aeris's battle model in to a Jemnezmy's, just because I wanna learn how to do it. Using lgptools, biturn, and Borde's Kimera tool, it's been going ok until I come to this: Jemnezmy's head model seems to have eyebrow textures; why I have no idea. But anyway, I tried adding rzae.p (hiae is the real eyebrow texture; i renamed it, and when I did this in biturn it worked) to the lgp, and the game enters battle fine, but when I win or run away, it crashes. the lgp has the correct number of overall files though, since i deleted a different file to make room. moreover, there's still a white space where the texture should've been.

so basically does the lgp crash if each model doesn't have the right number of files, or the whole thing?

Sad to say it doesn't work for me..
My FF7 can be played fine before..(Using 1.02 with TNT patch selected)

The FF7 window just opens and closes straight away :(

i'm having the same problem. it kinda turns black for a second, then closes.

EDIT: If i turn on win98 or 95 compatibility mode, i get the same problem Hybir did.

My FF7 just stays on an infinitely black screen. The original exe seems to work fine, however.

either way it doesn't work for me...

ah. it may just be my system then.  :(

EDIT: i tried it out on another computer, and it caused the overflow error again...but i don't think it has anything to do with file size, since some rather random models (like feet) caused an error on load.

sure. shiva's torso file, one of the largest file sizes, triggers the overflow error at load. that's cyvadat.p00, and its in the magic.lgp archive.

jemnezmy's hair file, hiar.p, triggers an overflow error when you try to save after rotating. there were a couple more, but i don't remember them now...

the only bug i can't get around is the overflow error.  :weep:

it happens when i try to open up a decently big p file, like torso models, or after rotating. it doesn't seem to always happen after rotating, but usually...

wow, i like it. there are some issues, but they can (mostly) all be dealt with. its a very useful program, thanks for making it!

alright sweet! good luck with that. and the resizing works well as of now, but it seems big p files cause the overflow error.

would it be possible to implement the option to rotate p files (i don't mean just the view, the models themselves)? that'd be amazing...

21
I tried Ultima, but AFAIK it can't rotate anything, only changes the camera view...and whenever I try to load a RAW file it freezes up :(

anim8or's site appears to be down, but I'll give it a try if it comes back up. Thanks.

Alright, from my last topic, I sort of learned how to use enemy battle models in my party. I figured it'd be easier to use a human enemy to experiment, so I tried to replace Aeris's parts with Jemnezmy.

The problem is that when the Aeris model loads, the pelvis loads all wrong. It's upside down, and I don't know how to fix it...everything else worked out fine.

So how would you rotate a .p file and convert it back into .p?

Thanks.

Archive / Switching in-battle models
« on: 2005-04-08 22:26:43 »
Alright, this is gonna sound wierd, but I tried to switch Cid's in battle model to an enemy's. I used LGPtools to switch all the models (Cid's head with the enemy's head, body with body, etc). But when I go into battle, really weird stuff happens; the new model sorta shows up, but when I try to do anything with Cid, the game locks up.

How do I switch models correctly, or is it impossible? Thanks.
