Completely Unrelated / Free gameservers!
« on: 2015-08-25 13:56:04 »
Need a gameserver? Want to help me test a few? I need people to help me test a few gameservers. Get your own private gameserver for free as long as you're helping me test these things! Pay the server rent with feedback! Contact me if you think you can help. Please put the desired game in the message. Thanks!

(This might sound very ad-like but I am in no way making any money of off this. I'm testing the limits of my new hardware for our next LAN party. I need to be able to run at least 20 servers of different games simultaneously. Also, when not at a LAN, I want to be able to host for the friends I have which can't afford monthly server rents.)

Homeserver:
2x Xeon E3-1240v3
64 GB RAM
4x 256 GB SSD (raid 0)
500/500mbit fiber connection
Off-site backup

In my daily job I'm a the systems administrator for a large-ish software company so I got this covered, no worries.

Completely Unrelated / A solid ground
« on: 2013-08-13 22:26:46 »
Hi everyone,

I'm here this time to shamelessly link my own site. Here's the deal; During my years on the internet I've been in quite some online groups and communities. However, after a while communities evaporate and the bonds you had with people seems to die off after a while. Even here on Qhimm, I used to be a regular but you know how it goes, things change, you don't feel as comfortable as you did anymore and you find yourself checking a site less and less, and when we check the site we just browse, not really trying to blend in to the community anymore.

It's natural how these situations develop themselves but somehow I feel to urge to stop it, at least for myself. The thing is, the main reason I think people move away from a community after some time is just because they are not really into the thing the community is about anymore. Like Qhimm, I used to tinker around with files and stuff from FF7 daily but I can't see myself doing it anymore, I'm just not that into it anymore. I learned a lot from it but my interests have developed and I do other things now (like this project I'm telling you about).

Anyway so I've set up a forum. I hear you think: "How are you solving this by creating ANOTHER online community?" Well, the theory is, the forum I set up is about anything and for anyone. Not just Final Fantasy, not just gaming, not just anything related to both of those but everything. The idea I have of it is it having a decent community after some time (might be years, I'm in no rush) and users can move about the boards as their age and interests change. We've all seen this work with the biggest forums but I want this place to feel like the home we've had a lot of times on the net.

This is just my idea, and I alone am never enough to do it all, but I made a start. Some people who think the same might be willing to help out, you never know. I'm not advertising this site anywhere else, I post it here on Qhimm because last week when I checked these forums it's when it hit me, so I kind of feel obligated. Also I don't feel like advertising this site because I want a community to form naturally from posts and content (but this takes time, and an initial userbase).

(I'm sorry if this is considered spam and against forum rules, please notify me if this is the case.)

Also, this topic would be the ideal location to let me know you think this idea sucks. :P

General Discussion / Ruby Weapon (FFVII) in movie.
« on: 2007-09-04 23:50:34 »
I was playing FFVII again since a long time and I arrived at the point right before you wake up to find out "Meteor" is comming! So I just saw the movie with the weapons fly out the crater and each go their way.

Now for my question:
Knowing that ruby weapon isn't in the Japanese version of FFVII, I wonder if he's in the CG movie of the Japanese version!?

Anyone?

Thanks!

Troubleshooting / Quick question for t3h pr0's
« on: 2007-05-27 13:37:44 »
People, boredom has struck me once again.
So, I was planning on playing FF7 again! (this would actually be the 1st time since I registerd to this forum long time ago.)

Anyway, since then the specs of my comp changed quite some bit. Will it actually work? Is it worth going into the creapy attic (with spiders!!) and find the shitty CD's so I can play?

specs:

os: WinXP SP2
Proc: Pentium 4 3,2Ghz (2mb lvl2 cache edition, just mentioning this cus it rocks! It increases the overall power by 3% XD)
Mem: 1,5GB ddr 400
gfx: Nvidia 7600 GT

Thats all you should know I guess.

If anyone has been really reading into this part of the forum lately might know without me having to undergo the painfull expercience of trying and trying and trying... you get the point.

Thanks in advance! (But I'll probably thank again later!!)

« on: 2006-12-12 18:05:59 »
I ordered a new videocard, a Asus EN7600GS Silent (just a heat-spreader, handy for later overclock ). It's a great card, it really is, I was doubting between a 7900GS or a 7600GS but the 7900GS isn't THAT much better.. and Buy getting a 7600GS I could get a DVD-ReWriter and 512 more ram :P

it's for x-mas from my parents <3
I just love christmas (only for the presents and the 'jolly' family-time, not the holy stuff attached to it).

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Flash on Wii?!
« on: 2006-11-17 07:52:34 »
Anyone know if the wii will support flash?
I know it is probably gonna get Opera but still doesnt say much about it supporting flash or not.

If it DID support flash it would be able to get a lot of flash mini games on the wii, looks fun with that controller (which probably replaced the mouse in those games).

« on: 2006-11-05 20:59:39 »
I was wondering if there was any way to put off the FPS limit in FFVIII.
Is there any way? Or any patch for it already?

Thanks in advance.

Anyway, I install the thing and everythings fine, I play it, watch the intro movie, BUT THEN!

ROAR AARGH RAWR UGGH AR!

And FF8.exe has encountered a problem (or atleast, thats what windows says in its nice pop-up)
and I get back at the desktop..

I tried some of the usual things like compatibility and the geforce patch, but nothing works...
Anyone know the answer to this?

SPECS:
Pentium 3 1,2Ghz 2x

Anyone watching any series?

I'm currently busy with:
Prison Break
- Series about an escape from Prison by the mastermind Micheal Scofield who, because of certain circomstances, helps escaping 8 other convicts.
House MD
- Series about a team of Diagnostics (medically) who deal with patients who have diseases which only occur like once one a 100000000 or so. Very exciting.
Heroes
- This has just begun and don't really know much about it (only 2 eps at date of post). It's pretty much about people going through the next step of evolution which gives them various superpowers (painting the future and bending space and time are just a few).

Any one else?

Completely Unrelated / What work do you do?
« on: 2006-05-23 07:34:56 »
Since I was wondering what everyone here does for a living I thought I'd make a topic about it.
It's kinda useless but for one, my job is fun.

Anyway, I'm a system-administrator for a company that makes roofs for giantic buildings.
The company is quite small so I only have about 10 computers and 2 servers to look out for.

It's quite easy and gets me some good money (7,50€ / hour).
I do this as a side-job though because I'm still in school.

What about you?

Yo,

After countless of conversations with countless of people I decided to choose a programming language myself (I'll choose after i tried most of them, sorry if this wasn't clear).
What I need from you is:

- What do I need to start.
- URL to software required (if free, else URL of where I can buy).
- Beginners tutorial so I can see which one works how and if I like it or not.
- What language do you know, do you like it? why did you choose it? etc...

I hope some of you might be able to help me with this, this could offcourse be very helpfull to other people who want to learn a programming language themselves.

I already started with Python (very easy to understand but quite limited) and JAVA (harder but I feel I can do a lot more becuase of all the options).

Thanks in advance and I'll probably thank again when replied to :D

Troubleshooting / Final Fantasy IX savegame editor?
« on: 2006-05-10 13:57:02 »
Yo,

I'm playing Final Fantasy IX again but on my computer this time, I made iso's of every disc a few years ago (for if my cd's don't work anymore) and emulators have save state and speedbuttons etc... so it's easier to play it on my computer then on the PS1 (This has nothing to do with my X button being broke or anything... I swear XD).

So I was wondering, could anyone make a savegame editor for FFIX on a virtual PS1 ePSXe memcard? Or does there already excist one?

Thanks in advance!

Completely Unrelated / IRC Channel for Qhimm.com?
« on: 2006-05-10 07:33:53 »
Well, I'm at work, and it's kinda boring... I got to kill a PC with a axe though.

Anyway, How about we make a IRC channel for Qhimm.com members?  think it could be quite the place to have discussions about whatsoever.

I have no idea how many of you are interrested in it but i made a channel just in case, if no one ever comes, it'll die.

It can be found at:
