I have 65,000 BP in battle arena, and for some reason it isn't even giving me the option to exchange pts for Omnislash... Why is that?

You clearly didn't even try to put this in the right place.   Moved and warned.

i feel you should be rewarded for how precise your subject is. i knew exactly what this thread was going be about. i think you have to be at least on disk 2 before you can buy omnislash.

Don't say that. He probably won't see the sarcasm and will instead believe you're praising his behaviour.

I seem to recall being able to buy Omnislash in DIsk 1 but it was over twice the BP as in disc 2 onward.

Over 65000 BP were needed (I think it was 65 5XX or something).

No, it's 64K on disc 1 and 32K on disc 2. Are you seeing the menu to exchange things at? What does it look like when you select "Next Page"? Are you sure you don't already have it? You're only allowed to buy one.

How exactly do you "have" 65,000 BP? You lose them when you leave the battle arena, meaning you'd have to either be playing on an emulator with savestates or have alt+tabbed your game to ask this question...

I'd alt-tab out and pray to god the game doesn't crash!

How many hours is 65000  BP on disk 1 ? 10 ?

Nah. Not anywhere like that. With some luck and decent levels, you can get 65k in 2-4 hours maximum.

it all depends on how harsh your handicaps are. If you're lucky enough to get the "all materia broken" handicap and beat it, you'll get tens of thousands of BP on a single run

took me less than an hour to get 65000 bp. But I was on Disc 3 with Tifa equipped with a Ribbon and Minerva band.

Has anyone devised the formula for BP?  The harsher the handicap the more the BP yes, but I think it uses some type of multiplier.  All Materia Broken when you have 10 BP bumps it up a few thousand, but All Materia Broken as the final handicap gives those tens of thousands.  I also think that it does this regardless of other handicaps, so if you got All Materia Broken as your last, and second to last (if this is possible, idt it is), you'd potentially earn 20000+ BP for each one...maybe

NFITC1 analyzed it down to a science. He started a thread about it IIRC.

The monsters are differet on disc 1.

When I last palyed in the Battle Arena on Disc 1 (ages ago), I seemed to notice BP accumulated much more slowly than on subsequent discs for some reason.

Aha!  Man there must be tons of buried treasure on qhimm.  Haven't been to the battle arena in ages, but ^this makes me want to see how much BP is possible in one set.

I used the game faqs guide that was in the link Opine posted. The best thing to do is get break all materia or break magic materia at the end.

Has anyone ever tried to do it on Disc 1? I can never be bothered to do it.

According to that list: 12,576
Break magic-->Break Magic-->Break All-->Break Magic-->Break All-->Break All-->Break All

It's funny cause when you look at it, it doesn't really seem to make any sense at all. You can theoretically have all of your Materia, your armor, and your weapon broken by round 3 and still barely get 100 BP for all seven rounds. (i.e. Break Weap-->Break Armor-->Break All-->Break Accessory-->Lucky-->Lucky-->Cure) It'd make so much more sense for it to give you BP as a function of the difficulty of each handicap and the number of battles you won with that handicap. The way it is it makes it seem like the handicaps were initially intended to reset after each match instead of aggregating.

That is what I always thought that it did before checking that list.  I doubt that it would be different in PSX versus PC, but I can't help but think that I got well more than 12,500 BP in the normal battle square...maybe not though.

wow lol, okay for any answers. A: you can get Omnislash in disc 1 after getting the tiny bronco for 51k (at least in the pc version) and B: it only takes about 30-45 mins to get 65k bp, just get the "all materia broken" handicap for the last battle and you're pretty much guaranteed 10k+points. to make it easier, I'd suggest getting your limit break about halfway-3/4 full before starting, have restore and an enemy skill with "big guard" on hand, and make sure you're fully healed! :)

But yeah this prooooobably shouldn't be in this section of the forums.

Oh, also if anyone else typed this stuff up, I only read about halfway through the comments, so I'm sorry and you get the credit for the earlier response! :D
