7th Heaven / Game Doesn't Run Properly

So i did everything the install tutorial told me, had ff7 installed to a non program file location, did the converter, messed with the configuration, all that stuff. But I cannot get the game to work properly. Whenever I launch the game, the opening movies don't play, instead giving me a black screen, the New game/Load Game screen has the regular background instead of the modded one, and if I use the renuion mod, the text is messed up. selecting to start a new game causes a black screen. Pressing ctrl-s to skip the opening movie will then skip over it, but the screen will still be black, but the sound effects of the train and people jumping off it and such still play.

This happens when launching with both the 7th Heaven launcher and directly with the ff7.exe in both install locations. I've gone over the configurations a few times and im fairly certain they're correct.

After leaving the computer off for a while, i came back, messed with the resolution thing some, because i noticed i put it in wrong, and tried again. This time it worked perfectly, until I skipped the starting movie. The game played normally and all the sound effects were playing, but the music wasn't playing. So I quit out of it and looked around to make sure I had the right Music settings in the FF7Config. When trying to launch the game again, it went back to the old behavior.

Any ideas>

Alright, i want to know, how long does it usually take for you guys to get through a game of Final Fantasy (#), on average. (Any Number, but specifically 6, 7, and 8.)

I don't quite remember my times, as I haven't played in a long time.

These guys take music from old games, and rap-mix the music. A current project of theirs is doing a song from Final Fantasy VII.

Okay, who has had a recent (within the last 6 months) tangle with a computer virus? My most recent was a couple hours ago, against this IM virus that's popping up on Yahoo chat. thankfully, i got rid of it and all 303 other infections on my PC. (thankfully, there is nothing truly important on my laptop. just a bunch of games)

How bout you guys? You had any problems?

Alright, so besides Final Fantasy games, (or Squaresoft/Square Enix games in general) what games do you really enjoy playing?

Me, My favorite games are the ones I played when I was younger. Donkey Kong Country, Half Life, Fallout (2), Duke Nukem 3D  (Yes, my dad let an 8 year old play that game), Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Baldur's Gate, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis... The list goes on. These are all games I had played between the ages of 5 and 13. FFVII was also one of them.

These are just some of the games I still enjoy playing. How about you guys? What are your favorite non-FF games?

How about we all admit to the fault of gamer rage, hmm? We've all had it. Throwing controllers, beating keyboards, screaming death threats at the scream.

How's about we all get together and tell of our own stories of gamer rage, whether it's our own, or someone we saw.


Here's mine:
When I play the PS2, rather than throw my controller and break it, I just bite it, and put grooves in the handle. (not very exciting)

I was watching this guy play Halo for the PC online. After yelling at the screen for 10 minutes to quit killing him, he finally picked his screen up and threw it through a wall! Made a pretty big hole. after the hole was made, he got even angrier and punched the tower.

Alright, I did not come up with this idea. I got it from a Final Fantasy Forum known as http://forums.ffrepublic.com of which I am a member of.

I thought It'd be fun thing for people to play.

(I did a little spell checking on it, and changed a couple words)

Hi everyone so i decided to make a final fantasy 8 challenge just to see if it works...and if it´s popular enough then i will make similar challenges for the other ff titles...so here are the rules:

1 ) All the characters of the FFVIII game that are more relevant in the game will participate!

2 ) Each character will start with 300 HP of health

3 ) You can attack a character taking 50 HP from them

4 ) You can cure a character giving them 50 HP

5 ) You can do one attack and one cure per turn

6 ) The maximum HP a character can have is 500HP

7 ) Once a character reaches 0 HP they are eliminated of the competition.

8 ) Please don´t double post wait at least for another person to post and then you can post again another attack/healing

9 ) Always copy the list of characters from the poster above you and make your own modifications

10 ) In the end ( if it even begins) there will only one winner

And a few extra rules:

1. When we get to the point that there are only 5 characters left the cure ability will be disabled, and you will only be able to attack.

2. If you post, you must attack once, and cure once. You cannot just cure, or just attack. Unless your a Mod or Admin posting an announcement, but I do hope that if Mods and Admins play as well, they will follow this rule. Rule 1 takes priority over this rule.

3. Characters with 100HP or less should be highlighted in orange to show that they are low on health.

4. Please make use of colors. Use red to mark the lowered numbers, and use blue when you cure someone. This will help identify where the action has taken place.

5. For a bit of diversity, I shall occasionally hold "events". When I call an event, the next 3 people to post can guess a number between 1 and 10. The one who guesses the closest will receive the ability to use an "item" as described by my following post after the guessing.
This item may be either an Attack Item (like a bomb fragment, which will do 100 damage instead of 50) a cure item (like a potion which will cure 100 instead of 50), or a special item (like a Hero Drink, which will allow you to make one character invincible to attack and Cure for 3 posts).
If you receive an item, you can use it any time you wish. If you don't use it by the time the game ends (if it ends) then the Item will be carried onto the next game.
If you use an Item, you cannot attack or cure in that post, except with an Item. Rule 1 take priority over this rule.

This game hasn't been finished yet in FFRepublic, but they seem to have very little activity over there, except for the chat box (go figure). If this does get finished, I will create another list, based off of FFVII, unless FFRepublic finally finishes, and the guy does make another, in which case, I will use his. I hope this Becomes fun and exciting for everyone.


(A note to Moderators: If you see someone posting unnecessary garbage here, instead of actually playing, would you be so kind as to remove it for me? You don't have to if you don't want to, but still, it'd help out a lot. Thankyee.)

If this is sucsesful, I'll try to make the next one a little more complicated, for added fun (like increasing the HP limit, and adding a magic/MP system.)

Alright, so I won't keep making new topics asking questons all the time, I'll use this when whenever I need to ask a question, Okay? SO please don't lock.

MY first question:

Is there a way to change the battle controls. I hate it when I try to select something, especially during a boss battle, and I end up going a little too far, and setting my character to Defend instead of using the much needed cure that would save my party from the next attack. Same with change. Is there a way to change it so, instead of puching to the side like that for Change and Defend, you can push (on a number pad) 9 and 7, then use OK for defend, and 3 and 1 for Change? something like that.

I know, I'm whining a bit, but it always bothers me in FF games when I do that.

So, is there a way to do it? If not, just let me know. I'll survive.

How much do you know about the original concepts of Final Fantasy VII?

Did you know Yuffie was supposed to be a foul mouthed bounty hunter who likes money? Or that Clouds original character design was a lot more anime then it is now? Jenova was not only part of the plot, it was also going to be an ability!


I don't know how many of you have found this, but this website has a lot of stuff on the story part of Final Fantasy VII, rather than the technical stuff like we do.
