"ERROR STARTING FF7"

I get this error when i run ff7 through 7th Heaven, ive done everything through the tutorial 100% correctly three times already and i still get the same error. I cant seem to figure out why. I have the steam version, it's not installed in the program files of my C drive, i ran the game converter more times than i can count just to make sure there wasnt an issue there and all the setting and paths in 7th Heaven are setup correctly, as well as the load order. This is very frustrating, can someone help me resolve this issue? I am able to run the game without using 7th Heaven, however none of my keys work. Also, there's no APP.LOG crash data so i cant provide that since it's blank.

Remako HD Graphics Mod  (I've tried running it with and without this mod with no changes)

Update: I did some searching around the forums and found someone with a similar issue. After changing 7H to adminstrator mode and my ff7_bc.exe to 640x480 compatibility mode it finally ran. Only problem i have now is that the only mods that are working for some reason are the Tweaks and Cheats, Beacause +Menu Overhaul, Avatars,  Dynamic Cloud Weapons, Movies, and the Music and Sound Overhaul mods. I cant get anyone elses models to work. Its annoying because Cloud looks so out of place. Any fixes? Load order maybe?

Update 2: Turned out my direct mode got turned off somehow. I turned it back on and it fixed the model issues. Now it just looks like the remako pre-rendered backgrounds isnt working. i cant tell if the others arent working since i havent gotten that far but im definitely making progress.

- Nice to see you're mostly figuring it out yourself already :)

- That's not your load order, that's a copy+paste from the FAQ.  Rather than hand typing it, or doing screenshot-crop to imgur, an easy way to export your load order is to click the "Profile Details" button to pop up a window with the relevant info, CTRL-A to select all, CTRL-C to copy to clipboard, then in a reply window (potentially within either /code/ or /spoiler/ tags to separate it out a little, CTRL-V to paste in.  As an example, this is my current load order:

- Load order matters... *most* of Remako does not belong at the bottom, which is why it doesn't appear to be working.  Think to yourself "If this is where the catalog battle textures mod went, then the Remako version of that mod also belongs there."

- Finally, because direct mode somehow got turned off, it's worth checking that another of the other under-hood settings is correct in ff7_opengl.cfg. Check about halfway down for "mod_path = Textures"

Ok, i will give that a try. My mod path is set to Textures. Like i said most of everything was fixed when i turn direct mode on. i will try moving things around but here is my current load order, i forgot how to find the detailed version, thanks for that.

Oy, you got a lot going on there!  What sticks out the most to me are the Remako Battle textures and Pre-Rendered backgrounds being in the wrong place.  R-BT should be way up near the top of the list, replacing the BT that comes with the v2.3 catalog.  Likewise, R-PRB should be roughly halfway up, replacing Field Textures - yarLson.

Yeah,i decided to use all the mods. i figured they were there so i might as well try them out. Anyways, thanks i will make sure to update that load order and hopefully my issues will be fixed. Thanks for the help.

Let me know how it works.  Also, there are a pair (Misc-Jessie and Misc-Team Avalanche) that don't do anything after certain parts of the story, so you might as well de-activate them fairly early on (Jessie after the first reactor mission, M-TA after leaving Midgar)

i have installed this mods, the game and even nvidia drivers 3x times today... im going crazy with this error!
it was working normal yesterday, but not anymore today.

it was working normal yesterday, but not anymore today.
Did Windows update itself and reboot?  If so, re-running the game converter and choosing "overwrite" at the start, then re-enabling the "Run in 640x0480" compatibility flag should get you going again.

LegacyHero - You have multiple duplications...

Pick only one from each of these groups.  Additionally, the Code:5 error is well-discussed and specifically mentioned in the 'Big list of bugs' thread.

I'll do that, and I'll update if that fixes the issue.  I'll also take a look at the bugs thread and see what I need to do to correct that error as well.

Ok, I was able to get the movies to play.  I think the issue was that the movies were from the disc, but the Game Converter wasn't pointing to the disc pathway to play them.  So I copied the movies into the pathway that I set Game converter to point to, and low and behold, I have movies now!

I had the same exact error message:

I fixed it by running 7th Heaven on Admini Rights AND the ff7.exe set to 640x480 resolution in the properties.
