Well, I'm not satisfied with the normal maps, but I started making the model usable in ff7, making it look good as separate parts you know. Maybe another week of 2, maybe tonight if I feel productive. Who knows :)

Aaaand here is the final result!

Unfortunatly, I forgot how to mod ff7, so it'll take just a bit more time to get a ff7 compatible version.

Update:

I found a new motivation for this project. Making it into a playable character in Super Smash Bros Brawl. I'll be working intensely on it now.

That's what I meant to say. Didn't know they did that for advent children though. I thought they used a fur and hair system. It's lot more simple and realistic, gets affected by the wind and stuff.

It's all cool

"it doesn't belong in this game.  The style of VII matters." That doesn't sound like a constructive opinion. Everybody here's working on reinventing the game from their own vision.

TheCoryGuy asked for people's opinion about his project. He didn't ask to be told in different words that what he did should not exist.

It's decent but since it is Advent Children it doesn't belong in this game.  The style of VII matters.  It is the same with the models, some of which look way out of place in VII when they are not based on original.

Isn't this a place for all kind of mods to exist and for everyone to choose which is better for themselves? I understand that it doesn't belong in YOUR game but come on, this is his project. Why do you always talk like everything annoys you? You've done this to me in the past.

Good job TheCoryGuy

I am especially fond of the face. I am not sure I like the plain colouring of the lenses though...

Great job there!

I'm gonna fix this for sure some day, just not right now. I'm also gonna remodel his hair with planes with transparency.

Here's an update

New update. Here are the rough colors. I'll be adding details like sewing, folds and stuff in the texture.

Hi people. Haven't been on for quite a while. Here's an update on my Cid model. I'm currently texturing it now.

Heh, I won't argue with you on that. You haven't even met the real douche on this forum yet and I hope you don't. His fun is to browse topics and nag people about how their ideas are impossible.

Being backwards compatible doesn't mean much with any autodesk application really. I've used Maya 2010, 2011 and 2012 and every time a new one comes out, some issues are fixed and some new appear where everything used to work fine. Right now I use 2011 because 2012 had too many problems with animations. I'm guessing 3ds must be suffering from the same kind of um... bad engineering.

All necessary tools are there. As for the errors you get with kimera, pay attention to the error message and download the missing file (something.ocz I think) and google the steps to install that file correctly.

One more question. If my head appears white, does that mean the texture failed to be saved in the model file in a previous step?

Edit: Never mind I figured it out myself. I don't really understand the usefulness of the "Load BMP" step in PCreator if you have to load the texture seperatly once inside Kimera...

Aaand here's the result:

Thanks! Um could it be that you mistook Kimera for another app? Because Kimera doesn't allow me to select any part to replace. All I have is a Load and Save option.

Alright thanks!

Can someone point me to a tutorial to import it in the game?

Should the neck be included with the head model or is it a different part?

Looks really nice. You should make his upper lip slightly in front of the lower one.
