True, but larger pictures are greater in size and thus this has an effect on loading time?

But I am not the expert here, if you say 4X is the best then it is :)

Yeah maybe 4X is a little overkill.

I can't see the field graphics like towns and villages ever being that good?  And so 2X is probably a nice trade-off...

Yes I know :P  but I didn't think the driver would actually go into the total detail of it in that way.  Still it was much simpler than I thought it would be, I am always looking at things to be more complicated.

Also, Photoshop is a little annoying outputting to 32 bit PNG.  At least 1 part of the image has to actually use transparency or is uses 24

Aali!! Can I suggest something?? Can you add to your driver support to load apng images to the game?? Just for a little experiment but if you're too busy its fine.

How do you know which to use from the beginning....I mean, some will be a certain size as default.  Is there a general rule like "4X bigger"?

Information needed

1.  Can I borrow and edit your Chocobo minigame images for the retranslation project?  The only real difference is the Japanese reads Automatic and Manual and not sequence or operation.

I would be very grateful :)


2.  What resolution is best to use with FF7 with High Quality in mind

3.  Do I substitute these in the same way as before, using mod path?

The "manual" and "automatic" pictures there are not transparent.  In the orinal game they have black borders, but inside this driver black has become transparent.

Also does anyone know why I can't convert png to 32 bit inside photoshop?

edit:

Photoshop only changes a 24 bit pic into 32 if it actually has transparent parts.

Ok, I have extracted 4 textures from minigame/chocobo.lgp and converted to Bitmaps.  I then changed to PNG.

Now, I need these 4 slightly altered images to be used in place of the originals....

Where do I go from here? Any help appreciated.

Releases / Replacement FMVs for FFVII

Yeah that's right....I was thrown by the original versions having so much nonsense like 14.32 and so forth and then when I used that SMK and saw 18.75 I just thought it was the same problem...

FF7 PC using 15 fps and it all appearing correctly made me think there is no chance that it can have that kind of division in frame rates but all along your program was actually doing what it should have been :P

So that's cool...and I never realised that it could use different frame rates, even inside same game, and variable ones too...

In FF7's case, all but 2 are exactly as expected :) and it's cool you have worked out how to perfectly find out the correct rate.

I sometimes talk to Hermoor, he seems satisfied that ammo is gone and has no plans to return as far as I can see.  Which is good for us all because we can now fully move on.
