FF7config.exe APPCRASH. Please help.
« on: 2012-09-11 17:45:25 »
Hi there, I brought this issue initially to EQ2Alyza on Youtube, who suggested that I give you the information behind my ff7 configuration problem.

First off, I've attempted to install front -> back three times, following every single instruction she mentions in her tutorial video from August of this year.

Anyway, the problem is:

ff7config.exe (The app with a chocobo icon) crashes before I have the chance to change any settings.

When I click "Play FF7" in the bootloader, I see cmd.exe pop up in the background, mouse animation starts up, then ff7config v.1.02 starts up, and crashes.

I've tried compatibility modes, safe mode in the bootloader config, and a number of other googled answers - none have worked.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) on a 1366x768 Resolution laptop.

Here is a screenshot of my crash info.

Thank you so much for the hard work, I really love FF7 and these mods look pretty interesting.

If you are running Google Chrome then close it.
This program disrupts FF7.

Hi!
When bootleg instal opengl custom driver, is there any problems with configure settings? Or they appear after installation?
Which video card do you use?

Make sure to have fully installation of FFVII with checked:
Directx 5 drivers
Direct show drivers

Those are required.

Hi demosthen3s

Make sure to have fully installation of FFVII with checked:
Directx 5 drivers
Direct show drivers

Those are required.

DON'T USE Directx 5 !!!!!!!!
DON'T USE Direct show !!!!!!!!

Look here

If you want to play without Aalis driver, rather install the Truemotion2.0 codec from here which is newer and more stable!

EDIT:
Which modification date FF7Config.exe?
For me it is 29. August 2010

Hi Saintyweb

Well, DX5 is (I hope) anyway not really installed, in XP DX9 is already integrated.
Direct show (=Movie Player?) will include an file "tm20dec.ax", but it is outdated and very buggy.
Instead, you can download the newer file from here.
The file Decodes the FF7 videos.
Aalis driver has his own movie plug-in, but that only works if Aalis driver is also used.
There are other codecs that can decode the videos, but this is the easiest way.
Works with XP (32 bit) and W7 (64bit), I've tested.

Hi ! I know this subject is old, but it's the first result on google. I have create a Batch file for automaticaly rename the DLL file "Nvd3d9wrap.dll". This file cause the crash of FF7Config, this batch file rename it, and launch FF7Config.exe locate in "C:/Game/FF7/" and re-rename "Nvd3d9wrap.dll" of origine.

Sorry if my english is bad, but i'm french.

Link of Batch file : https://mega.co.nz/#!TYpUiRqZ!cN0wE0awSAgkOxhDu9241dhIw9k2uMgvQRy7kXuI050

Enjoy ! See you later :)
