Recommendations for Soundtrack Replacement
« on: 2006-06-04 19:41:47 »
Okay, I've got FF7Music working, and I've got the FF7 OST, the AC OST, the Black Mages albums, and different songs from Overclocked Remix.
What songs do you choose to replace, and with what other songs?  For example, the Advent Children version of "One Winged Angel" is a popular one to do.

Hehe, for a little while, I was using The Ramones' "Blitzkreig Bop" as the battle theme, just for fun.  It was neat to see the characters prepare their limit breaks while the words "Hey!  Ho!  Let's go!" were being shouted in the song.  Now obviously, that's not something you want to keep as a permanent replacement, but it was fun for a few fights.   :-)

So... ideas?  Suggestions?

"Chase of the highway" (AC) is a perfect substitution for the bike minigame =)

I also like "Little Busters" by The Pillows for the victory tune (its the "victory tune" in the anime FLCL)

Using in_spc.dll, you can use SNES music. Try this along with a music pack from either Final Fantasy IV, V, or VI, for a truly retro experience. Also set your window color to be either flat or a vertical gradient, to help add to the effect. Give your characters names like Cecil, Kefka, and Cid, and patch the menu face images with appropriate artwork. In fact, maybe we could gather a team to replace all the character graphics with that from previous games, and re-do the cutscenes and text to match. That would be a REALLY cool project.

But, if you just want the SNES music, just do that.

Kuroki Neko from the soundtrack of the anime "Black Cat" is pretty dramatic and goes well with the boss music

ADVENT CHILDREN DISC 1
(Hurry) aseri or 1-07.mp3---12 - Battle in the Forgotten City (from 1:08 to 3:20)
horror---03 - Beyond The Wasteland (from 0:00 to 1:34)
(Fighting) bat or 1-10.mp3---03 - Beyond The Wasteland (from 1:48 to 3:42)
(Fortress of Condor) condor or 2-10.mp3---10 - Black Water
ob---10 - Black Water
(Aerith's Theme) earis or 3-19.mp3---11 - Aerith's Theme [Piano Version]
(Flowers Blooming in the Church) earislo or 1-12.mp3---08 - Water

(Tifa's Theme) tifa or 1-05.mp3---05 - Tifa's Theme [Piano Version]

ADVENT CHILDREN DISC 2
(Hurry Faster!) aseri2 or 4-08.mp3---03 - Those Who Fight Further [FFVII AC Version]
(Those Chosen by the Planet) cephiros or 3-05.mp3---01 - ~Divinity I~
(Interrupted by Fireworks) date or 3-16.mp3---10 - Cloud Smiles
(Crazy Motorcycle) chase or 1-22.mp3---06 - The Chase of Highway
(Still More Fighting) chu or 1-20.mp3---07 - Savior
(J-E-N-O-V-A) chu2 or 2-14.mp3---08 - J-E-N-O-V-A [FFVII AC Version]
(One Winged Angel) lb2 or 4-16.mp3---09 - ~Advent- One-Winged Angel~
(Staff Credits) roll or 4-18.mp3---12 - CALLING

REUNION
(Main Theme) ta or 2-01.mp3---17 - Final Fantasy VII Opening Theme [orchestra version]

With this the action scenes are really ACTION and those dramatical really DRAMATICAL.

Your fetish for resurrecting topics is going on my nerves.
This has been the third time.

Quote from: Forum Rulez
Don't resurrect old topics. When people stop posting in a topic, it's usually a sign that everything of value has been said. Thus, if nobody's posted in a topic for more than a week or two, consider it dead and don't post in it (unless you have an important follow-up or question exactly on-topic, and the topic is still recent). If you post just a comment on something somebody said ... chances are no-one will care because it's been a while since everything was posted.

Before you tell me that your answer is "exactly on topic", take a look at Boolean algebra, and figure out what "(A v B) ^ C" means.
