64-bit friendly?
« on: 2006-07-17 21:12:07 »
Are those of us using a 64-bit processor with a 64-bit OS going to be able to use Q-gears natively?
If so then please keep that in mind from the get-go as making it work for 32-bits and then fixing it to work with 64-bits later will probably be more work than getting it to work properly in the first place (see OpenOffice.org for a good example of this).

I think you are worried about nothing.  First it is ment to be portable.  Currently it will run on what people have available.  Worrying wither or not it will run on a 64bit OS is like jumping off a cliff because you were worried you might hit a tree walking along the edge of it.  I'm sure there will be gotcha's etc. they will just have to be worked around.  Since there is nothing one can do about the format of FF7's Data it will be the biggest porting issue between archetectures.  OS's are unlikely to present as much of an issue.
