[REL] FF7 Mods switching
« on: 2011-02-27 23:04:39 »
Mods switching is as few batch files which changes the mods for you. You can do it by yourself or take mine, that doesn't matter. Currently supported : ArmorVil's AV Mod, Lost Wing's Mod PC version, gjoerulv's "Hardcore" Mod and the original (backup). Also Bosola's Rebirth Mod PC version which I can't distribute since Bosola told me to not. Well, whatever.

*** If you are too lazy to do it yourself and prefer download the already-made files, just don't read the following ***

Make backups of your originals ff7.exe battle.lgp scene.bin flevel.lgp kernel.bin and kernel2.bin by renaming them adding "_nm" (without quotes) between the last character of the name and the extension (so ff7.exe become ff7_nm.exe). Now download the Backup batch file (link at the end). Run it. If everything goes well, you'll see the "Backup restored successfully!" message. Now, have the Lost Wing's scene kernel and kernel2 renamed the same way but with "lw" instead of "nm" (scene_lw.bin). Do the same for ArmorVil's AV Mod and gjoerulv's "Hardcore" Mod with "av" and "hm" respectively. You can download it to have it easier too. Put the four batch files into your FF7 directory.

Important : All the FF7.exe are patched with MDef fix, Transparent dialog boxes, 9999 limit breaker (limit for everything = 32767), CSith and Gypt Instant. They also have Menu Reconstruction Mod with the recommanded settings.

Now, you can create shorcuts on the desktop and just click them to change the mods. This is how I do this. All your battle_**.lgp and scene_**.bin files must be in the data\battle directory while flevel_**.lgp files must be in data\field folder. Same goes for the KERNELs, in the data\kernel directory. All the mods can now be changed without any trouble. If you have a private mod that you want to use this method to change it, you can send it to me, I'll be glad to work on it, but it'll cost you. Effectively, I will play it after :P

Now, I think that's it. Links just here :

I just want to mention that the Mdef bug fix and the Damage/HP limit breaking when used in my mod [Lost Wing] may makes things a little or a lot less balanced.  I don't mind, but if you want to play without these features (most of you probably won't) then check the project thread for FFVII Lost Wing.  If you enjoyed it, definetly keep an eye on FFVII:  Revisited as I've gained a lot of skill and knowledge since I created Lost Wing, and Revisited will be much much better and also more comprehensive.

Stupid q by a stupid usr.

I have tried your stuff but I had a gflevel.lgp in my \field\ folder, this might be because I use the German version of the game.

In your batch script I replaced all flevels with gflevels, but the game didn't work either. So I renamed the file manually back and it worked. So not sure if it is at my end, just reporting in case you care about.

This was intended to work with English versions of the game, and Bootleg has since long overtook it. I might consider rewriting it from scratch in a more fashionable way, so it could work.
