Err, FF7Music will use any input plugins from the same directory. Using both MP3's and psf's is certainly possible, I've been doing it all the time.

Oh, then I am mistaken. Ignore that bit that I said before.

However, you absolutely should NOT keep your MP3s in a directory with spaces in it. Some people have been able to get it to work, and some haven't, but FF7Music is really finicky and this is the cause of most problems I've seen. Keep the program where it is, but put your songs elsewhere, such as C:\FF7Mp3\ and tell me if it works.

This is a bit of a long shot, but try changing the device in your output plugin settings.

I wasn't suggesting changing output plugins. I said to go into the settings for your output plugin, and change which device it's outputting to. Like I said, it's a longshot.

Also, are you running FF7Music as an administrator and in Windows XP SP2 Compatibility Mode?

Sorry for not replying sooner, this thread got bumped back a few pages and I missed it.

If you hadn't tried the compatibility mode before, that suggests that you didn't read the tutorial on the first page very thoroughly, because it specifically says to do so.

Hey, I just ran through this guide, still one little problem:

When I'm in a certain area that's playing music, and I enter another area that uses the same music, the song restarts from the beginning again. For example, on the deck of the CargoShip to Costa Del Sol, it plays the "It's Hard To Stand On Both Feet" minipsf, but when I go to the lower level, it restarts "It's Hard To Stand On Both Feet" from the beginning.

Though I have found if I set the Resuming to "Always", there's a little hiccup in the sound when I go from the top level to the lower level, but when I go from the lower level to the top level, it starts from the beginning again.

Could you help me with this?

Unfortunately, this is a flaw with FF7Music, and cannot be fixed.

Oh. Alrighty, thank you.

Do you know if there are any blank audio drivers I could use to mute the MIDI in Windows 7? Because I was thinking of reverting back to an old verison of FF7Music, because I remember it working perfectly on my old computer a few years ago.

Any chance of a non-rapidshare link as RS has a habit of being overloaded during UK evening times.

Got it downloaded, nvm.

EDIT

Now the problems arrive.

The program doesn't list any files in the config and the program lists the following in the console.

Yeah. The cause of the problem was that you weren't using my ini file, you were using a new one, so you would have needed to manually add the songs. So the bit of code I gave you was just copypasta'd from my own ini. :)

HOLY CRAP, I FOUND A MISTAKE IN MY BUNDLE.

Did you follow my tutorial exactly, and happen to hear Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony when you climbed the golden shiny wire of hope? Fear not! I have updated the zip file in my first post with a fixed ini that no longer has this problem.

Did you customize your ini some, and don't want to download a new version and have to remake your changes? NO PROBLEM!!! You can fix your own ini, by finding the following line:

Code: [Select]
gun=FF7 211 Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony.minipsf
and replacing it with this:

Code: [Select]
gun=FF7 401 Shinra Army Wages a Full-Scale Attack.minipsf
VOILA! That's all there is to it! Now you can feel a little less  :x and a little more  :-D!

Can a mod or admin replace the current FF7Music sticky with this thread? The old one is frankly outdated and incomplete and doesn't address all the problems Vista, 7, and x64 systems have, and it's tiring to dig out the link to this one whenever somebody has a problem.

Just wanted to say thanks for this great guide. You have no idea how many guides I've tried in order to get this to work :)
Finally managed to get it to work flawlessly with your guide. I'm still very unsure why it didn't work before though.. oh well!
Cheers mate :)

First of all, great guide!

Just wanted to add something I figured out. I run x64 Windows 7. If I try to run FF7 through FF7Music while Firefox 3.6 is open, it crashes. It works fine if Firefox isn't running, however. No idea what the clash is, but figured it might help anyone who is running into the same issue.

I have a problem guys. FF7Music stopped working here. It doesn't play the mp3s, and it doesn't mute the midi too. It's strange because it used to work, and I don't know what I did to. I use the one bundled in the Remix Patcher, but I tried this bundle too and it didn't change a thing.
I tried with a fresh 1.2 ff7.exe but it still doesn't work.
I really don't have a clue what the problem is.

Edit: I'm running windows 7 (32bits)

I don't know what you did to break it, but reinstalling FF7Remix should fix it.

Well, I did not install ff7 remix, I only took the "ficedula" folder from it. And I've already tried to recopy it, but it didn't fix it.
