Releases / [FF7PC-Switch] Beacause LayeredFS
« on: 2019-04-06 23:07:17 »
Here's Beacause R04C by DLPB repackaged for Switch LayeredFS. [LINK REMOVED BECAUSE I NO LONGER HAVE A DESIRE TO FUCK WITH DLPB]
To use, Unzip, and move the 0100A5B00BDC6000 folder into the layeredFS folder on your SD card depending on your Switch CFW

for Atmosphere, it should be SD:/Atmosphere/Titles

for ReiNX, it should be SD:/ReiNX/Titles

for SXOS, you are ferning stupid and any questions relating to SXOS will only be met with more insults.  Go fern yourselves.

So the full filepath should be something like SD:/ReiNX/Titles/0100A5B00BDC6000/

This does modify the exe, so it might not be compatible with other exe mods, and if they are, the exe can't be copy/pasted, so you'll have to do those modifications yourself (using this one as a base, if you want to still use beacause)

refer all questions related to the actual mod to DLPB, and questions related to the Switch can be sent to me; it might be easier to reach me on the Qhimm Discord.

Releases / [FF7PC-98/Steam] Anxious Heart (A05 Final)
« on: 2018-08-18 20:49:09 »
Since DLPB is incredibly short sighted and pigheaded, he decided to take this down before the release of Reunion R06.  That was over a year and a half ago, and I figure there MIGHT be some people who actually like not listening to the god-awful MIDI included in the 1998 release... so here's Anxious Heart A05.

Next time, maybe you should have the new releases prepared -BEFORE- you take the old ones down.

General Discussion / Final Fantasy VII Window Colors

Figured this may be a nice thread to have around.  To get the ball rolling, here's a link to an archive of a bunch of presets people came up with years ago

General Discussion / Response to Props001's thread
« on: 2011-02-03 04:21:44 »
Since Obesebear closed the thread and I can't respond.

That mod you saw was The SaiNT's hi-res mod.  Somewhat unnecessary at this point, since Aali's driver can do that on it's own.  Beyond that, Team Avalanche is working on re-creating all backgrounds.  Bombing Mission should be done fairly soon, so use those releases as they come, I guess.

Basic idea here, is to say what, in your life, sucks at the current moment.

Example:

My job sucks, they barely give me hours (I have a whopping 14 hours this week, spread between 2 days), my boss is trying to get me to quit, and it's making me lose my hair due to stress (and I just stopped losing my hair 2 years ago)...  At this rate, I'll be bald by 25, and my urge to slaughter will be nigh unbearable.

In other news, I'm hung-over for the first time ever... this fucking sucks... and I gotta be at work in 45 minutes, FUCK.

Am I the only person who thinks "This isn't newsworthy?  It's just words, big f'ing deal"

So, I've been lurking 'round these parts for a few years now, but never really posted too often, and now I'm not so sure why.  In the past few weeks that I've been posting consistently, I've realized that while this is a Final Fantasy VII forum, VII isn't everybody's favorite game in the series.  So, while reading the great FF VII vs. FF X argument, I got to wondering what everybody's favorite FF game is, and why.

For me, it's VII.  Personally, I love the overall tone of the music.  Very emotional and heartfelt, a fine example of this is Aerith's Theme.  As opposed to what Hermaphrodite thinks, the music doesn't have to sound bright and cheery to be bright and cheery.  Once again, Aerith's Theme is a perfect example.  As I see it, that piece is tightly linked to her love, not just for Cloud, for for the party as a whole, but for humanity as a whole.  Remember, she did, in a way, know she was going to die.  She willingly sacrificed herself, to save the world.  Thusly, the piece sets the perfect mood for the scenes it's used in.  Another example of a piece that sets the mood well is "One Winged Angel" the fanboy's favorite.  It has a very dark and foreboding tone to it, especially when the Latin vocals come in.  Especially, if you know the origins of the lyrics.  They were all pieced together from the Carl Orff cantata "Carmina Burana".  Specifically the pieces "Estuans Interius", "O Fortuna", "Veni, Veni, Venias" and "Ave Formosissima" (another interesting note, the beginning of "One Winged Angel" is modeled after Jimi Hendix's "Purple Haze").

(Sorry about the long music rant, my brother was a music major, and is now a music teacher, and I would kill to be one, but I lack the skill to play an instrument well enough to do such a thing, nor do I have the patience to practice as much as I'd have to =(  )

As far as the story goes, I love a good, complex story.  It's also incredible, how extensive the FF VII universe is, when you know everything about the game, read the short stores, watched Advent Children a disturbing number of times.  It just amazes me every single time.  It can be oversimplified, to a point where it looks retarded, but so can every story.  I just love how FF VII's story can send me off into deep thinking about the nature of the world, EVERY TIME.

The art style is also appealing to me.  I love both cyberpunk and steampunk, and FF VII has a huge helping of both.  So that right there grabs me.

There's probably a few things I forgot to mention, but you all get the gist of it.

I would also like to ensure that everyone on this forum hates me, by saying that I can not stand, Final Fantasy IX.  I find it so f'ing boring.

It's 70 degrees out... and I have nothing to do/nobody to chill with, so I'm just sitting at home listening to music.

I might go ride my bike around a local lake for an hour or so, just because it's something to do.

Anybody else have an idea (I could also sit and play FF VII/VIII up at said lake with mah lappy)

General Discussion / Custom Materia?
« on: 2010-02-14 23:03:45 »
I've seen this done before, I can't remember the patch, but the guy made a Meteor materia and a Holy materia, with custom spells.  I would like to know how to do this, I have a few ideas on how to make this fun and useful.  I don't even need to know how to make my own spells, I just want to use some that are already in the game.  I just need to know how to go about creating the materia.  Can anybody enlighten me?

Troubleshooting / FF7 Save Converter doesn't work
« on: 2010-01-17 08:45:11 »
So, I've decided to try and convert some of my FF VII saves from many moons ago into PC version saves.  I used ulaunchelf on my PS2 to take the raw Memory Card saves, which FF7 Save Converter claims to handle, and inject them into a save for the PC version.  However, once this process is "done" FF7 Save Converter crashes, and leaves me with unusable saves.

This leaves me with 2 questions

1) what am I doing wrong?
2) Could someone do these for me if I send them the raw PSX files?

Troubleshooting / FF VII unable to exit itself
« on: 2010-01-12 08:17:44 »
I don't quite know how to explain this, but I'll do the best I can.  Starting tonight, the game is no longer to end it's own process from the task manager.  It started when I began to mix and match FF7Music tutorials until I got one that worked for me.  This has implications as I have to use the task manager if I wish to start the game a second time, without restarting my computer.  Or if I forget to insert the disc (or in my case, as I'm using a netbook, mount my (LEGAL) disc image).  I've tried reinstalling to no avail, this behavior persists.  This isn't a major issue, but is quite annoying, especially since I use Aali's custom driver, and when I use Ctrl+Q to quit the game, it leaves me in 640x480 unless I enter the task manager and manually end the process.

EDIT:  I used a system restore point I made about 12 hours ago.  Now everything is back to normal, I think tomorrow I'm going to create another restore point, and try again and see if the same thing happens

Archive / Debug Room Found in flevel.lgp
« on: 2008-03-09 05:38:00 »
just looking through the game files today (I'm thinking about starting a mod, no major story changes, no graphical changes, just a text mod to make tifa seem a bit more....loose, just for the hell of it, and to help teach me how the text engine works), and I found that within flevel.lgp, if you select md1_2, it's not only the entrance to the Sector 1 reactor, it also holds all the text to the debug room, possibly more too, I don't doubt that this has been found before, but I don't think I've ever seen it documented, and I can only imagine that figuring out how to edit more than the text of the Debug Room could prove to be a huge step in making Mods for this WONDERFUL game, does anyone else agree?

EDIT: and... oddly enough, this also contains all the text for within the reactor (even text from the now removed part where you have to save Biggs as well), what's going on here  :? :?  shouldn't this text be in the respective screens for those parts of the game?

Archive / (Possibly) New unused text found
« on: 2007-07-13 19:45:40 »
I was just messing around with Cosmo and I found some text that is unused and I don't ever recall being reported (although, I have a VERY vague recollection of the text being used, but I've played the game 38000000 times and I don't remember it clearly

in mds7st3, the 9th "Misc Text" reads

Quote
[Choice]My husband never came back.
[NewScreen]
[Choice]I wonder if something happened to him?
[NewScreen]
[Choice]No, I'm sure his leave was just canceled.

now, we all know the "My husband never came back part", but what about those 2 options there, does anyone remember them being in the game beyond a vague recollection

Troubleshooting / FF VII FMV help
« on: 2006-07-31 15:02:26 »
Ok, so I have my copy of Final Fantasy VII, 100% legal, but there's 1 proble--- err...2 problems, first one is i can't find disc II, i've looked everywhere in my house for it, it's gone, and my Disc I is f***ed up, only half of the movies are readable off the disc, so i need someone to do something for me

A) tell me how to get movies to load from my HD so i can put what does work on my HD and load it there
B) tell me the file names of the FMVs on Disc II so i can put a blank TXT file with a .avi extension in that folder (i know i won't have the videos only blank screen for a few seconds)

please help, i love FF VII with all my heart and i have beaten my PSX copy 9999 times, and now i am playing my PC copy with the NPC reconstruction patch and i can't go back to PSX right now because i am so mesmerized

EDIT: by the way, sorry if this is deemed to be in the wrong place

EDIT AGAIN: never mind the blank text .avi file, i just tried that for my no good hiwind0.avi (right where i am at) on disc I the only files that are no good (or can't be copied from the CD at least) are opening.avi hiwind0.avi and gold7_2.avi  if anyone has easy access to these files and the files on disc II PM me and i'll give you my e-mail so you can get those files to me, it's really important to me that you do this
