Hey MXster. PM me your msn.
Or drop me a line. Cause  I want to work on this too.
I just don't want our work to over lap.

Well progress is progress. I knocked off a couple of these models.
Well here you are.
Zangan and Beach Boy:

I know their feet are a tad small. I will fix that later.  Also the colors are slightly off. I will also fix this.
Right now i have to go eat dinner!
:D.

I've just noticed that there are some animation problems with Cloud when he jumps around just before the Jenova fight starts. His limbs become slightly detached.

I've also noticed and have hopefully fixed for next release  :|

Well people. I have just went out of my way to fix our mini game biker cloud.
He looked appalling originally.
Now not so much. Just, my work ain't the best.

Before:

After:

I have not tested this in game. I am uncertain if it works.
So this is just a work in progress, at best.

Just one question.
Do i set the transparency to 0 or black in kimera?
Cause textures confuse me greatly.
-.-...
(sighs)

*edit*

Here is the beach girl:

once again, the colors are off. I will fix this once i get all the models on my quota done. Then I will go back an tweak them, until they are "perfect".
 :-D

Oh, and since i do plan on doing all these models, here with MXster of course, I want to know if any of you have a requested model.
For now i am doing them alphabetically. But, if you guys have requests, that would be good too.
 :-D

*edit 2*

Another character done.

Beach Man 2

Awesome work! Dumb question but are these textured?
Title: Re: [Release]Chibi Reconstruction Project
Post by: Hellbringer616 on 2009-08-18 04:16:17
Think only the mouth and eyes are textured on FF7 defualt models. the rest are colored polygons
Title: Re: [Release]Chibi Reconstruction Project
Post by: Blood_Crow (Mendelevium) on 2009-08-18 04:39:26
That is correct. Only the mouth and eyes are textured.
I plan to fix all the mouths eventually.
. They really do bother me. But the arms bother me more.
xD.

Here is another update. I will eventually fix all the colors. They are extremely hard to get exact in kimera. (unless i happen to be missing some crucial tool).

here is another update;
Beach Woman 1:

Laugh it up!
:-D. The darker models are hard for me to do. Cause i have to adjust the brightness for each part.
It will be fixed eventually. But, for now, i don't think it will be noticed in game.

I tried to fix her..

what do you guys think?

There's something I've wondered...

Do their hands have to be in such unusual positions? They look like they are holding invisible batons :?

Is it harder to model hands that are a little more open?

If you relax your hand at your side it forms this sort of position, you have to use your hand muscles to stretch your fingers out, so I think this position is perfectly fine.

I was thinking of a hand position halfway between the current one and stretched out, with the fingers slightly bent....

To be honest. I know. Kimera bothers me.
And i don't have enough time. Summer is quickly closing.
And my skills in kimera, i am quite rusty. I can't get the colors to match.
And... Yeah. I will go back and fix all my models. When i can.
 :|

As it is, i only have a couple of good ones.
And also, i haven't replaced the legs or anything. These are bare W.i.P shots.
, they will be better, with the final product.

If you've edited your char.lgp at all, the patch might not work. Check "date modified"; it should be 1998. If you patch a completely unmodified char.lgp, it should work.
Title: Re: [Release]Chibi Reconstruction Project
Post by: Hellbringer616 on 2009-08-19 00:39:10
Thats a drag if you want to use a modded char.lgp and update it with these files..

Good thing i backed up my originals :D
Title: Re: [Release]Chibi Reconstruction Project
Post by: Kudistos Megistos on 2009-08-19 00:42:15
You might want to try keeping a copy of your modded lgp, patching a clean one, then copying the files that were changed by the patch into the lgp that you had modded before using a program that extracts and replaces files in lgp archives.

Since the original sephi crashed the game. I tried to remake him, as close to the original one made by murak modder as i could. I just think the cape needs a bit of an adjustment.

Also, i plan on replacing the mouth soon.

his neck isn't really that scrunched down. Its just the  blurr in the pic.  :|

Just the feet are a different shade. Forgot to do that one too. xD.

Well, I have made a decision. That working on this project no longer suits me. MXster, we haven't even really spoken on this project, much. Team work is lacking. And your style, obviously, differs greatly from mine. All you have done actually is replaced the arms. I thought this was a "chibi reconstruction project." Not an arm replacement project, that has already been done.

I am going to do personal mods for the time being. And I don't mean to start a flame war, or anything, its just its quite frustrating, when I replaced the entire bodies (save the head), and he only replaces the arms, and "tweaks" my models.

Well I am off. I hope you all enjoy what ever MXster can conjure up on his own.

Good Luck!
 :-D

Oh, and to all of you out there, who just "mooch" off this forum, its not that hard... All it takes is the ability to read, and then you are set. It just annoys me how a lot of you, come and post comments about how my unfinished work is bad. Can most you do better?!
Title: Re: [Release]Chibi Reconstruction Project
Post by: SwornEnemy on 2009-08-20 10:15:10
fair enough, don't worry MXster, i know u could do this on ur own, but il help u........
Blood Crow u shouldn't take this so seriously, its only a bit of fun, its  just to see what we can do with the game with the means and skills we have at this present moment.
i believe anyone on this forum could do what u, me and MXster have been doing if they really wanted to.

i think to do a serious chibi reconstruction project we would have to be at the standard or 'APZ freak' with his chibi cloud....
which to be fair looks f**king difficult to do.

i believe this reconstruction project is good enough for the time being, cause it stays true to the game but make the characters look slightly more realistic which is awesome

well done MXster for ur work so far. i think its great , keep it up...

(me and MX are planing a lot of things for the future so keep ur eye out for us)

Whoa!! Ok first point, why upgrade the body's of NPC's? The main party has had their body upgraded, isn't that enough?? Second I was only 'Tweeking' your models because their colour was slightly off, and you've found a better method to solve this now, Third, we haven't been talking much because you said
Quote from: Blood_Crow
I'm not allowed on MSN

Fourth The only model that you've replaced the body on was the Beach Woman, which to be honest I didn't like, and Finally The 'Hand Mod' only did the main party and important characters, I didn't continue this project to make chibis to the level of APZ, im only a basic modder and fan of ff7 so im doing this for myself and if anyone else wants to use it I give them the option

I have to say I glad someone is taking the time to do this, whilst I think no one expects APZ level work, I would imagine it would take nearly a year of constant modeling/texturing to get even just the mains done, nevermind the likes of "beach lady" and all other obscure npc's I think like you say the chibis stay true to the originals but make enough improvements to give the game a breath of fresh air.

Bit of a request and im not sure how people feel about this but have you thought about replacing the open mouth textures especially on the likes of Sephiroth I always think they all look so shocked with that silly mouth design.

Er, these mods have nowhere near that much detail; they're basically smoothing the rough edges of the models. It would probably take too long to re-texture everything

This has already been addressed. Everyone hates the great big open mouths and I believe that the current modders are trying to deal with them (at least I hope so! :-D)

Stock Models for the NPC's, otherwise it would take ages, its just a basic mod to get rid of the stupid square hands and arms

Here is a nice comparison Pic, I usually make one side then mirror the parts to the other side

looks great, For the next release can you not use that patcher? I find that thing HIGHLY annoying to use.. Always asks for a new LGP...

New version released, It isn't a patcher anymore as requested by hellbringer616, enjoy, I've added a fair amount of NPC's in this one, also, I've played around with some of the NPC's hands and made them less curved as requested by Kudistos Megistos, not sure if you'll notice but hey, its in there

I think it's slightly noticeable :-P

Also, it's nice to not have to play around as much with the .lgp files; installation was quicker this time :-)

BTW, I believe that Murak had a problem with Tifa's animations that meant he had to make her skirt longer. Have you found any ways to get around this?

I'm worried about length of her skirt only because I want the mod to be as authentic as possible. Not for any other reasons. No.

unofficial quote due to laziness: 'BTW, I believe that Murak had a problem with Tifa's animations that meant he had to make her skirt longer. Have you found any ways to get around this?'

notice in here, on one leg, i removed the skirt from the leg, from the front, it looks reasonable, from the side however, it looks bad and not even remotely straight or like a skirt, and due to that, the animations made her legs noticeably detach from the body, so i added the skirt to the top, and that happens to be the shortest i could get it so it wasn't badly transformed so it at least resembled a skirt and not a 'parachute pant' style skirt.

the waist could be rotated or moved, but due to the butt in placement to the 'belt', it would look like the waist isnt even connected to the chest.

I just wanted to say great work guys, great mod that's true to the original and does make quite a diffrence, if i know first thing about wrapping i'd slap on some textures, but i'm quite out of the loop at anything but Photoshop..

How has this project been coming along? Sorry to be a necromancer, but i (amongst others) really enjoy using this mod in conjunction to the PRP and would love to see progress.
