Here's the files, including my save.

EDIT: Guess they're not needed anymore :)

I just checked and Cid is still invisible in Nibelheim's town square, even though the database lists it as fixed:

09.Mar.2020   sylandro   New Translation   Cid's model will be invisible in the main town square at Niblheim (nivl_3).   Fixed as of R06d

I think I've found a new bug that isn't in the Reunion Database: in Disc 2, when Cid is the party leader, if you go to Nibelheim he will be invisible in the main town screen. It only happens when New_Translation is enabled.

Here's the logs and a save where I could replicate it:

Fanfare music bug happens with normal 1x speed as seem in my video. But I do use 60 fps battle set to '2' (motion interpolation on), and I have a friend who sets it to '1' and has never experienced the bug. Maybe its related. I was getting kinda annoyed that the limit break animations and camera seems broken with 60 fps set to 2 (they dont wait for the limit break aura animation and sound to play completely before running toward the enemy and the camera lags behind), so I'll change it to '1' and see if it still happens

If it helps, it has happened to me with 1 too (haven't tried turning it off yet), without ever using the speed up feature. Didn't manage to capture the logs/dumps, sorry.

I have a save file that throws an exception when loaded, in Ultimecia's castle just before the final fight.

Adding the empty wrong_disk fixed loading my other saves, but this particular one refuses to load.

Here's my save file:

Great job on the release. I think I've found a bug: I started a new game and Cloud's EXP bar seems to go off limits. Apparently this only happens when a new game starts, as soon as you get exp it is fixed.

Image: https://imgur.com/a/Cf1shq2

It only happens when New_Translation is activated.

The world upscale pack has the same transparency issues as satsuki's: the Chocobo's dust trail when it runs and the Highwind's exhaust smoke look weird in comparison to the original version. Everything else looks pretty good though!

« on: 2017-03-31 00:48:44 »
I could, but that kind of defeats the point of this mod...

The premise is that I took some existing assets that were made for aali's mod path (mainly from older Reunion versions with Menu Overhaul) and modified them to work with the Steam version without requiring a downgrade. There already better UI mods that work with the aali's mod path, so I'm not sure if I should make the effort.

Higher resolution UI for Reunion 1.0

DISCLAIMER: This started as a personal experiment, so the quality can be improved a lot. However, I consider it to be in a decent state so I've decided to share it with the community.

This patch changes some of the UI textures to higher resolution ones. The textures were taken from the discontinued Menu Overhaul by DLPB and edited to match the Steam version.

The affected textures are:
  • Title screen.
  • Fonts (menus & battle).
  • Menu assets (borders, slots, materia, cursor, etc).
  • Character portraits.

Also, it (optionally) replaces some strings from the Reunion patch I was discontent with to ones closer to other Final Fantasies:
Spoiler: show
  • Minimum>Mini
  • Poison Null>Poisona
  • Status Null>Esuna
  • Ether Turbo>Turbo Ether
  • Uchide Mallet>Mallet
  • Panacea>Remedy
  • Mithril>Mythril
  • Force Eater>Force Stealer
  • Hard Breaker>Hardedge
  • Partizan>Partisan
  • Crime Hazard>Climhazzard
  • Morbor>Malboro
  • Caktuer>Caktuar
  • Cactuer>Cactuar
  • Ironate>Ironite
  • Semzealot>Zemzelett
  • Sandles>Sandals
  • Frog>Toad
  • Death Sentence>Doom
  • Confusion>Confuse
  • Protect>Cover

PREREQUISITES
You MUST have the following installed:
  • FF7 Steam version.
  • DLPB's Reunion patch (tested on versions R04c to R05c).

You can test this on other versions, but it's not guaranteed to work.

HOW TO APPLY
  • Unzip this file into the DATA folder inside your FF7 installation folder (the .bat file should be placed inside data, not any subfolder!).
  • Run patch-all.bat. If the installation goes wrong, you can find the untouched files inside the backup folder. To restore them, just copy them over your data folder and overwrite everything.

If later on you want to change the button icons or enable/disable the text modifications, you can run the patch process again.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • The countdown timer on top of someone who has Doom or Gradual Petrification is not scaled properly. The numbers look unintelligible.
  • The letter spacing may look too tight or spaced in some cases.
  • Some UI elements look too pixelated or have small pixel artifacts.

All three issues are fixable, but I lack the time to do it. The first one requires ASM editing the exe so it reads a different portion of the texture, and the other two requires image editing skills to edit each character in the font texture.

I've been fiddling with uMod and it looks promising, is there any way of automatically loading the modified textures without loading umod.exe? I kind of dislike having to open a separate application to inject them.

13
Sorry for the 3 year old necro, but I'm having the same problem.

I'm trying to mod the steam version without downgrading (in order to preserve time tracking and all) and so far everything has been a success: I've repacked several lgps, edited text and even applied a few exe patches (thanks to DLPB's documentation).

I can't find any pointers in the existing documents that are scattered around the forums of where these instructions are located, but I'm sure it has been already reverse engineered.

Any hint of where/how should I start looking? I'm assuming I have to use a debugger, but perhaps someone else knows which address to edit.

14
Hi, I have the Steam version of FF7 and do not want to use the GameCoverter because I don't want to lose achievements and such.

I am aware the Reunion mod dropped the Menu Overhaul, but I'm wondering if there's a separate installer or something similar, and one that does not requiere to convert my installation to the 1998 release.

Perhaps, if a menu mod is unavailable, are there any texture/icon mods that update the UI font and icons such as items, materia, weapons etc to a less pixelated version? Something like SeeD Reborn but for FF7? If the textures are available separately, could they be able to be patched into the Steam version through some hacking (ulgp?)?

Also, a little offtopic question, are there any textures that change the PSX icons to XBOX360 icons?

Of course your team get credited, nothing could have been done without tS and Menu Overhaul. Keep in mind i'm not translating your retranslation, but using the mods. We're actually looking at the japanese script to adapt it to spanish.

Here's some screenshots:

Hi! I'm doing the same thing too, maybe we can share assets? I'm working on a team of two and are looking for helpers. I figured the "spanish into english version" a long time ago and have the full spanish dump. I even started injecting some of the retranslation. PM me if you are interested.

17
A link to the japanese dump will be invaluable for all future translations!

Thanks.

18
I'm working on a project to retranslate the spanish version using touphScript, Menu Overhaul and the english FF7PC.

Given that you're working on a retranslation of the english version (and a very impressive one), I have a few questions: how did you access the japanese script? Does touphScript support dumping from the japanese PC version, or did it involve playing the game in japanese and taking notes?

19
Hi,

I don't know if this is within touphScript's scope, but is it supposed to rebuild the index of the Item menu? If I change the names of the items in kernel2.bin and then use the "Sort alphabetically" option in the Item menu, the items retain their original order before I applied the changes.

For example:
1/32 Soldier -> Soldado 1/32
Zeio Nut -> Nuez Zeio

After sorting alphabetically:
1. Soldado 1/32
2. Nuez Zeio

Should be:
1. Nuez Zeio
2. Soldado 1/32

If not, then can you tell me which tool can help me do this?

20
Hi luksy,

I've encountered a few issues while editing Kernel2.bin on tS 1.2.5:

First is that the description text for the Chocobracelet becomes corrupted whenever I patch it with tS (even if it's a first time) :

Second, if I run touphScript more than once to edit kernel2, all the equipment descriptions mess up:

EDIT: The descriptions are messed up even on the first edit. The descriptions of the equipment with text are carried over to the ones that do not have it.

21
If you mean the retranslation option, most texts still overlap the window size (the window boxes adjust better but some spanish strings are even larger). I've seen the files to hack the window sizes and might do it myself in the future, but first I plan to patch the spanish translation (most of those long strings are mistranslations btw), just as an experiment.

What I'm eagerly awaiting for is the new release of menu overhaul with the expanded adobe sheet and tilde support ;D

22
What do you mean? I used menu overhaul version M004d and this is what happens, am I missing something?

23
Excellent job luksy! Thanks to the new version, I managed to transfer the full spanish script to the english version.

Here's some screenshots of the accomplishment:

Now I only have to patiently wait for DLPB's M005...

Two things...

First, when I tried to insert the text I extracted from the spanish version into the (untouched) us version I got the following errors:

Code: [Select]
Error in blin62_2: Incorrect number of entries: 21/22
Error in rcktin5: Incorrect number of entries: 97/96
Error in las3_2: Incorrect number of entries: 7/6
Error in las3_3: Incorrect number of entries: 8/7
Couldn't encode scene: Incorrect number of entries

When I opened blin62_2 I noticed that there was an additional dialog that wasn't on the spanish version (oddly, some dialogs are in english even in the spanish version). This didn't make sense to me since there should be a 1:1 match in the used scripts...

I proceeded to dump the text without stripping unused text and now I get the following error:

Code: [Select]
touphScript v1.2.2 --- a FFVII text editor

(d)ump or (e)ncode?
d
Dumping flevel.lgp

I know, the foreign versions are a headache :/
