Hello! It's been a while. I've been trying out the latest version (2.0) and just had to point out one thing. I opened the extended save menu in Yamski's house and it soft locked the game for me; the cursor didn't appear and I couldn%u2019t do anything.

One other thing, it's not game changing so I never bothered to mention it but for some reason the field theme won't play for me when in battles even when I set it that way. I started a fresh new game with the new version and have no other mods in use so I'm not quite sure what the issue could be?

Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to cut Dark Cave and a bunch of the Turks battles in Type B? Balancing issues?

Hello! I’m coming back to replay this mod after a year. I throughly enjoyed the last play through and I’m very much looking forward to another play through with all the little changes that have happened since then.

One question I have is would you consider a clothes change option for the characters that already have pre existing field and battle models? I’m not sure if this isn’t possible because the likes of Seifer and Edea don’t appear as party members where they aren’t supposed to and I don’t know if normal Squall and uniform Squall are just skins or entirely different models.

Hey there!
I’m gonna replay this mod (never got past Necron last time) but I had to reinstall the game afresh and then re apply the mod. For some reason whenever a battle starts the game will crash. Do you have any idea which folder I may have screwed up in changing?

Thank you for the dragon skin advice! I guess I had not had them at a high enough level before.

Regarding Krysta, its Auto Defense skill seems to soft lock the game? I was left unable to do anything. No damage value or visible effect to my characters.

Can you confirm where I can find dragon skins in this mod? I have everyone except Zell’s weapon fully upgraded. Dunno if I was getting unlucky with the Anacondaurs or if it’s been switched around.

As for my thoughts so far. I am approaching the end of disc 3 now and I just beat Mobile type 8 and, although I admittedly took him on with two of my lesser powerful characters (Selphie and Quistis; both of which had still been keeping up with current party levels), I thoroughly enjoyed fighting it.  It’s been so long since I actually felt so involved in the boss fights in this game that it took me back so many years when I was a kid and used to work so hard to beat these battles. I have to thank you because this mod has honestly rekindled my love for this game and let me experience it as if it was new I am genuinely worried and preparing myself for Ultimecia, a feeling that I’m sure the original game hoped to instil upon its players,

Any tips for Marlboros? I try to junction Berserk, Confuse, Esuna and Sleep to my ST DEF which gives me 90% resistance but his bad breath still seems to stick all of the ailments regardless. Quistis with initiative and degenerator is unreliable. I’m really only trying to get the tentacles for doomtrain but with his low encounter rate and bad breath it’s making for a bit of frustration.  His encounter rate seems higher on ICTH compared to Grandidi forest but I don’t know if it’s confirmation bias.

Edit: I forgot about the amethysts! I got a back attack on one of them just now and used one of those and got a delicious 8 tentacles!

Yes, you could update to the latest version by redownloading the mod package from the opening post, and go through all the steps again, as if the mod was installed for the first time.

There would be only a few things to take care of in regards to compatibility with saves from older versions:

- if Odin was already unlocked in one of the previous versions, he would still randomly appear at the beginning of battles. If that's the case, I would recommend disabling Odin by using Hyne Save editor to prevent him from appearing, as in the newest version, Odin is summoned by using an item instead.

- there might be something strange in GF Ability lists, like "Tool-RF, required AP: 53/30". This is because some of the Abilities have been changed or swapped around in the latest version and can be easily fixed by selecting the Ability, then doing a battle. The issue will auto-correct itself afterwards, and the Ability in question will be fully learned.

You could also just send me your save game and I would adjust it for you, but I think it's better to wait until the next version of this mod releases within the next couple of days.

I appreciate the offer, I won't trouble you though. I'll just go ahead and download the current one now and get the newer version when it's out. Glad to know there won't be any trouble though. Thank you!

Loving the mod by the way. I’ve hit a few walls against bosses (I’m doing a semi- selfish magic run in combination with the play through) and I’m loving the challenge.

More of a technical question of no importance but I’m curious and was wondering, is there a reason that enemy targets that have the same attacks as the player can’t have the same sound effect as the party when they attack? I’m referring to  Disc 3 spoilers






Nanaki and Yuffie’s Disc 3 boss, Nanaki and Barret when they are “guests” in the party against Yuffie and Zack

In the Mideel area is it only supposed to be the Crysales enemy that gives no EXP while the Head hunters still give some out? I seem to remember both not giving any before as it was a great spot to grind out Materia without getting overpowered in levels.

Hey there, thank you for this mod. I'm very interested in trying it out but my RaW doesn't have this global folder mentioned. Could you tell me what I need to do please?

Edit: whoops. Looks like the RaW folder needs to be accessed from FFVIII's files after installation rather than directly in the RaW folder itself. Don't mind me.

I'm a total novice to this stuff so could I ask someone to walk me through this step by step? I have cheat engine 6.8 and all I really care about is getting Fujin and Raijin in my party. I've tried to follow along but a lot of the chat so far has gone totally over my head so if someone could take me through it in simple term I'd be mighty grateful...

Hey again. Just dropping in to say I've been having a good time with the mod. It's breathed a new life into the game for me! I'm only up to Cleyra right now but the difficulty is just right now to the extent that I had to retry against the prison cage monster in evil forest a couple of times and Beatrix feels like a very real threat again. I'm looking forward to seeing how everything else unfolds. Thanks for taking the time to do this.  :)

Hi everyone, I've searched around a little but I haven't seen anything here or on google relating to this.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a mod for the Steam version of FF8 that would let us use enemies in battle? I remember way back seeing people using Gameshark to allow any enemy in the party. Something like the video I've posted below would be great as I'm really only fussed about having a Seifer Fujin and Raijin party.

I'm guessing that it'd be too much of a headache to let us have complete free reign of the party makeup in disc 3? Would be fun to experiment even more with different compositions and to run around with Yuffie or Red as field leader. I understand there'd be a lot of things to workaround though in terms of sidequests etc.

First of all, thanks for all, second, i have to apologise  about my last post, it was too raugh.

About the patch, now the battle is a lot funnier because he can kill you but, you can kill him before you're MPs goes to 0.

One thing more, I want to know the HP of this enemies if it's possible:

-Iron Giant.
-Master Tomberry.
-Mover.
-Armored Golem.
-King Behemot.
-Pollensalta.
-Crater Dragon.
-Dragon Zombie (or Zombie Dragon).
-Malboro.

That's all, I want it because.... Morph XD.

I have some of the HP values that I painstakingly worked out. I can't attest to their 100% precision but they are very close and should let you chip away most of their health before switching to morph

Sorry to bother with this again. I've been to the bottom of the crater, I went to the altar in the Forgotten city and beat the new boss down there. I didn't get Planet materia afterwards and I clicked around to see if it was on the ground but still found nothing. :(

Edit: noticed the new patch on the front page. Will I have to re-load and beat the boss again for it to drop?

Double edit: ughhh. I done goofed and saved over the wrong file, my next closest save is 4 hours away. I don't think I can get it now.

Where could I find Iron Men? I'm trying to gather things for ultimate weapons and can't find him. In the vanilla game he was only past the point of no return according to the wiki.

Also where could I find the Planet materia? IIRC the where is the thing doc said it was won from the silver match at gold saucer but I got final attack instead.

Whew, thanks. Managed to get through it.

Edit: I've found that the game can soft lock if you visit Priscilla's house as Tifa. Haven't tried with Cid but I assume it'd be the same.
