... Somehow, it just didn't occur to me to ask you.  Anyway, thanks!  That's what I thought.  I guess they'd get rid of the option because of people repeatedly leaving and coming back with new accounts.

I guess "delete" was a poor choice of word on my part.  I don't want to annihilate the evidence that I was ever here.

Weren't there several members who voluntarily "left"?  Their positions (Freak, etc.) were changed to "Guest" and their profiles vanished, but their posts still remained.  Or did that happen only to banned people?  MrAdults, koral, Sightless_Seer, and the the third Jari are the examples I'm thinking of.  Maybe it can't be done anymore.

I would be fine with leaving my account "alive", it's just not going to be seeing any activity.

If this seems like an unusual question, it's because I'm an unusual person.

I've been inactive lately since I've lost the enthusiasm for Final Fantasy that I had before, and stopped visiting the forums.  Not that I was ever a really big contributor to anything.  I just liked the community.  But my life has changed since, and I cannot see myself coming back.

It occurred to me out of nowhere to officially leave the forums by deactivating my account, as I seem to remember multiple forum members doing this in the past, but I can't seem to find out how.  Either the option disappeared at some point, or I'm just being unforgivably stupid.  Anyway, I just have to ask, because now I'm curious:

Is there a way to do it?

Final Fantasy: Never played
II: Never played
III: Never played
IV: OwnED, never got to play it ( >:( )
V: Never played
IV: Actually want to really play
VII: ....... do I have to say something? lol was stolen, and re-bought 3 times (1 used pc, 1 new pc, 1 new ps1). That should say something.
VIII: I thought it was okay... wasn't feeling the card system (unless mixing up with IX, but sure it was here too) (still own a brand new copy green label for ps1 if anyone would like to purchase) (stolen, but bought back for good price).
IX: Great. Liked it mroe than VIII, but once again, didn't like the card system)
X: Epic. Never beat it yet, and regret it everyday. Got stolen.
XI: Never played, looks meh. Not really a fan of MMO's. Just a good story :)
XII: ... I hated it, rented once, bought later (when I collected; limited edition game and guide) and it got stolen. I don't miss it lol.
XIII: Topic of discussion
Tactics: I had alot of fun with this one when I was a kid. Just bought it again the other day :D

1) It's a real shame you've never played any of the old-school Final Fantasy games (I - VI).  They've become my favorites over time, even over FFVII, purely for their replay value.  They're really good!  (imo)

2) Holy Toledo, who keeps on stealing everything from you?  Talk about acquiring games illegally :P At this rate, you'll run out of cash to buy more copies of the same games with.

Don't think those teenagers will be swimming at night again for a while :P

That's creepy.  Maybe it's possible not to notice if it's in the deep end, but I guess it's more likely that most people either glimpsed her briefly and assumed she was alive, or were so put off by the encounter that they felt too uncomfortable to report it.  Diffusion of responsibility - if something distressing happens in a crowded place, people will assume that other people will deal with it and save them the trouble.

Reminds me of FFIII's final dungeon.  Don't even get me started.

Good presentation should not have to make up for poor gameplay.  At worst, good gameplay should be making up for poor presentation.  Isn't that how Final Fantasy took off to begin with?

Nowadays, it's possible to have videogame graphics that make everyday life look poorly animated.  It was better when there were restrictions on graphics and sound that developers had to work around.  They had to make games that were good in spite of limitations imposed on them by the game engine.  Now that those limitations are pretty much gone, they don't bother making the games good at all.  They get too carried away with what they're able to do and lend less significance to what they should be doing.

[/ostentatious rant]

If it has dark chocolate in it, I won't stop eating it until it's gone.  But other than that, I'm not a big appreciator of food (my BMI is 18.2).

I don't think torturing should be exercised at all.  Isn't there some kind of mind-altering substance out there that could inhibit the person's... inhibitions and just make him answer every question without really thinking about it?  Hell, you could probably do it with a generous dose of alcohol.  I just don't see how torture can be effective especially when there's no guarantee that the person has the information you're looking for and that what he's telling you is definitely true (especially when what he thinks is true may not be the truth).

Although, that's just torturing for information.  If your purposes are different - say if you just want to make POW No. 454 behave himself - then maybe it is effective, though I'm not saying it's therefore right.

It would be apt for someone who was so cowardly in life to be a coward in death too.

I hope you're being sarcastic.  The guy seriously had balls standing up against a superpower nation like the USA.  He can not be called a coward (just because people hate him so much).  To do the straight fighting would've been just plain stupid.

But it's also exactly the kind of thing Bin Laden would do.

Yeah, like you've met the guy.  That's not a fact, that's an impression.  To me, using a human meat-shield just seems so futile and desperate that I doubt it could've even occurred to him.  But that's just my opinion as opposed to yours, I guess.

But it does sound exactly like a sick story made up to beat him down when he's already dead.  Like the way the public spat over Mussolini's dead body in 1945.

I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the guy drfeelgud88 (and many other posters, myself included) quoted/responded to.  I'm not saying "kill the thread", I'm saying forget about megaknight's post.

I think that guy has received enough responses now.  He's been active since posting that, so he's probably seen some of the posts afterwards, but he hasn't responded.  Let's drop it.

I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if it's not true.  Sounds exactly like the kind of story someone would just perpetrate about him out of spite.

Or maybe it was a genuine misunderstanding.  (Yeah right.)

But even if we play make-believe and say religion is the main cause of deaths, well good.  Maybe no one else has noticed but the worldwide population is absolutely out of control.  We cure diseases constantly and are always finding new ways to prolong life.  We NEED something to kill us, and unfortunately natural disasters just aren't happening quickly enough.

I like where this is going.  Let's discuss.  So what are we gonna do about it?  Find the Black Materia? ;D

I want to jump to obesebear's defense on that one.  If he was saying that the Muslims should be mass-murdered, then that response (see above) would've been appropriate.  But that's not what he seemed to be implying, so give him the benefit of a doubt.

Anyway.  I would be very cautious when talking about Islam and its followers.  If Islam were the root cause of the problem, then we'd be lucky to find a single likable good-natured Muslim out there.  As it just so happens, there actually are likable good-natured Muslims out there.

In all honesty, the Muslims are an okay bunch of people by my book.  Those people who execute women for being raped on the grounds of promiscuity, those people who hijack planes and fly them into tall buildings, and those people who are committed to raining terror on the world around them, aren't really Muslims.  They're just freaks.

It's probably a good thing to be saying goodbye to all of them, since they blow the 'member count' of the forums totally out of proportion.  Not that it's a big deal or anything.  Still, I'd assume that if they really wanted to retain membership here, they'd come and visit at least once a year and perhaps even occasionally... you know... post stuff.

But don't "liberal" Christians do exactly the same thing? The only difference is that they pick different bits to take seriously and different bits to ignore.

That's quite a sweeping statement you make there.  At least give the benefit of a doubt to these poor people.  There must be plenty of Christians out there who don't knowingly ignore parts of the bible.  (Accidentally overlooking minor details is something else.)

But as a liberal Christian myself, you kinda got me there.  The beginning of Genesis can be loosely paraphrased as "God created the earth in seven days.  Man was created on the sixth day."  Not possible.  Either those "days" are a metaphor lost in translation, or God created the Earth in such a way that it sure damn looks like it took millions upon millions of years to develop (fossils and everything).  Or maybe vast amounts of DMT were involved.  I don't know.

I always excuse this by saying, "... Whatever.  The bible isn't supposed to be a science textbook."  So I guess you could say, on some level, I do ignore some parts of the bible.  Or perhaps I just have such strong faith that I believe in a religion even where it doesn't appear to make sense.  You decide.

The desu meme is dying out possibly because basically no one irl appreciates it desu.  Nearly everyone I know thinks its geeky, retarded, and too random to be funny desu.  That's what sucks about people with lives desu.  They just don't get internet jokes such as the desu meme desu.

I think I've figured out why moogles are such a popular element of the Final Fantasy series.  Kupo = desu.

My last post illustrates what happens when people take their holy books seriously instead of just picking out the bits they like and saying that the bits they don't like are metaphors.

As far as Christianity goes (I don't want to run the risk of speaking for other religions as well), that's not 100% true.  Extremists take certain fragments of the bible extremely seriously (hence becoming extremists :P) and seem to be completely oblivious to the rest.

In the example of Christian fundamentalists condemning gay people: Yes, the bible does condemn homosexuality.  I don't know why.  But the bible also tells you very clearly (and it emphasizes this far more than the homosexuality thing) not to judge other people and to "love your neighbor".  The "neighbor" bit, according to what I was taught, actually is a metaphor in this context, and supposedly refers to every person you ever encounter.

If I were God, and I was talking to the guy holding the "God hates fags" sign in your second picture, I would probably say some variation of "Go to Hell and mind your own business."

In all fairness, there is a difference between believing in a religion and butchering everything it stands for...

Hnnn, Shadow-kun! >:(

You're supposed to buy three copies of a game! One to play, one to look at and one to lend to people!

Me?  Lend to people?  Ha.  You're funny :)

I sorta want the title and avatar anyway despite owning three copies of the PSX game ( lend to someone, forgot who I lend it to, bought it again, forgot where I placed the CD when moving... bought AGAIN... ) and two of the PC game ( got one with my first pc, got the other by buying it off my cousin for 10€ when I accidentally used the first cd2 as dish for my toast... )
it looks kinda... dandy.

You sound awfully reckless.  I've never had to buy the same game twice.  Ever.

I bought my copy of FF7 PC about three and a half years ago in a videogame store downtown.  That's unheard of, right?  I flipped out when I saw it, and made the purchase without a second thought ;D
