Maybe I'm stupid, but when I open the newest version the only language option I have is French. How do I get the English language/version?

Dear myst6re. Could you please shed some light on the usage of Deling for this? I was able to see in the scripts that the variable involved was 537, but I just can't get why it must be set to d7. The point is that I want to modify the flags to indicate that I opened the hatchs with laguna, and using Deling I think that I must change variables 538 and 539, which correspond to the entries 0x11A and 0x11B, right? Now, I have no idea about which values they must be set to. Also, I was looking in save files from other people and now I think that opening the hatchs also alter other values in the row (in particular 0x119). Does that make sense? I know it would be easier to just use Hyne and obtain the relevant items, but I'd really like to learn a little about how does this works.

Thanks for the amazing work you've done.

Enable advanced mode, go to HexaEdit > Field and modify the value at the address 0x119. If you've done everything right, it should be 0xD7.

How I know that? I use Deling to know which variable is modified http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13050.0
Here var537 is modified, which correspond to 537 - 256 = 281 = 0x119 in the Field tab in Hyne (var0 to var255 are in Misc tab).

that makes it easier to use. i am grateful for that. i am going to experiment with it. is there any limits to what pc versions it supports? not that it really matters to me when i have all 3. i just want to avoid wasting time editing an incompatible version.

i found one issue. when i try to create a new save inside the editor, i get stuck out at sea near the bridge from galbadia to fisherman`s horizon. no matter what i tried to do, i kept getting stuck there. that was in the old disc version.

Normally a new save is set to the first map, not the worldmap, can you send me the file you created and more details about how you ended to this state?

hi myst6re,

Do you know a way to check the list of scanned enemies and allies in a save file ?

I ask because of this : https://retroachievements.org/Achievement/96467

I'm pretty sure I've scanned everything, but still can't unlock the achievement, so I think maybe you know how to check which enemies/allies have already been scanned, and which haven't been scanned yet.

Hello myst6re!
I tried the latest version of Hyne on the Remaster version in Steam. I still do not understand how to solve the problem with the Metadata file, it is not created, and all changes are rolled back. I can install the regular version from Steam, but I'm not sure if this is the correct solution to the problem, and I also don't know if those version creates a Metadata file.

i was just like thinking in the magic tabs. why not have a button that assigns 100 of the essential magic in the game.

Because I don't want to impose my vision about what's essential or not :)

Hello,

Apologies if this isn't in the right place, but I'm having some trouble with a Switch save.

On my Switch, I put my SD card in then in settings I transferred FF8 over to the SD card. Then I put my SD card in the computer and it has a folder called Nintendo. Inside of that, there is a folder called Save that has two files in it. There are two files that are named with just a bunch of numbers, and I am assuming these would be the save files? When I open up Hyne, it doesn't recognize the files (or any files in the SD card) as Switch save files for FF8. If I change the dialog box to allow me to see all file types, and try to open one of them an error message with no text just the yellow ! icon pops up.

I'm not sure if maybe I am missing a step, or if there is some way to extract the save files from the Switch that I'm not doing correctly.

Any ideas?

EDIT:
I just came to find out that Switch doesn't allow you to transfer save files off or onto it unless it's running homebrew or something like that. Sucks I won't be able to edit saves for my Switch but at least there's always PC.

Huh, where was the version "fixed" with the english language uploaded to?

I downloaded the latest one from github (1.11.2) and it's still in French. Am I missing something?

The "Langue" menu only has French to select from. No other language.

I have a question.
Why this change was made?
"Change french text "Protection" to "Précision""
Protection in French is Protection, it literally does not change.
Précision means Precision in English so idk the context why it was changed, if it was a bad translation or something but if it was done for the spell Protection then idk why the changes were made.
Anyway, I love your work and I can't wait for enhancements.
