There are no PSOne emulators for iOS or what?

Well, among other things, this is a good deal more legal than downloading disc images, and I can't imagine the average iPhone user is savvy enough to rip their discs themselves.

Too bad mods won't be able to be applied on an iOS device...

You could edit them probably, but you can't get them back in without jailbreak now. iOS 8.3 locked the app sandbox, so you can only get them out through iOS backups.

http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/19/final-fantasy-vii-lands-on-ios-with-built-in-cheat-codes/

So, it's out in New Zealand, and it has a "max stats" cheat and you can disable random encounters. Wonderful. Don't forget, this is the same Square Enix working on the remake... Hopefully Nomura won't let them go this far with that one.

edit: TouchArcade has first impressions.

It's on the UK store now for £11.99.

I'm not paying that much for it...

It could also be a smart marketing move to help build more interest for the remake.  The more available the original is, the more exposure the franchise will get.

This port is based on the PC version and believe it or not, there's actually a "no random encounters" option available any time along with "max stats"...

Edit: The bottom black bar for fields and FMVs is still present and it seems that they've removed the O faces.

Didn't they say the game is to big for mobiles. Have they reorganised it some how?

No, Apple had a limit of 2gb on the app store, they bumped it up to 4gb earlier in the year.

Curiously though the app store says it's not even 2gb. Has anyone bought it yet?

Wait the battle mode still has the black bar wtf :o

Same as the PC version: no bottom black bar on worldmap and minigames because it's full 3D but the bar is still present on pre rendered fields, FMVs and encounters; I guess the PS4 release would be the exact same thing. Also, instead of fixing the O faces, they've completelly removed them.

Damn I really really hate this black bar completely stands out and ruins it for me, how is there no fix on this yet here? Isn't it possible to maybe just make black bar on top aswell and center the game make it seem 16:9?
Why to fix something when they know that everyone will buy it anyway? It would be wasted time and money.

I searched around, and I can confirm that the savegames are identical to the PC version, so they can be edited with Black Chocobo. I haven't got the app, I found a save online.

There's just no way to transfer that back to your iOS device though. Unless it supports file sharing.

True
Thanks hehe. It's like.. when they re-re-released the PC versions for VII and VIII. Why did they released them with crappy MIDI music? Because they can.
Anyway, back to topic, I think everyone here legally owns a PSX copy of FFVII. Why to pay again for the same game when you can legally emulate it? Actually, I'm currently replaying it on my Oneplus with ePSXe, and wouldn't pay in my life for a "native" android version. AGAIN.

Analyzing the IPA, I found that this iOS release IS the PC 1.02 version of the game. iOS app is a sorta of x86 emulator that checks DLL imports and redirect them to custom functions. It works like Wine for Unix. This allows to install the same mods of PC version, like Steam version. I'm pretty sure that PS4 will work in the same way.

So I have a jailbroken iPhone with ifile. I extracted the directory and it's almost identical to PC. You sure this can't be modded like we have done on PC?

I tried the field models mod, it worked beautifully but the framerate wasn't very good. Battle mods just crashed the game when entering battles.

How did you do it? I want to see if maybe a iPhone 6 can handle it.
