The idea is that it leaves a clear residue in the cracks and scratches which stops the laser diffracting so much so the error correction can handle it. It does work if you are careful and it has the plus side of making your cds smell nice and never get plaque

how to clean a CD with toothpaste:
1) put a small amount of water on the scratch, being very careful not to get the water near the edge, as water tends to wick between the plastic and ruin the foil.
2) taking a tiny dab of toothpaste on your finger scrub gently in circles where the scratch is. After a while the toothpaste will start to dry and flake. Add a tiny bit more water/paste when this starts to happen.
3) The idea behind it is that toothpaste is a fine abrasive. (Take some and rub it between your fingers, you'll feel the "grit" to it.) It smoothes out the scratch's edges and makes it easier for the laser to pass, as opposed to a jaggy gouge that reflects the light at odd angles.
4) *WARNING* the wrong type of toothpase can stain the plastic or be to "gritty" and will make the CD worse. Please try on a garbage CD before you get the technique right

MOT(or fanboy, not sure who said it) is right. Gamecube is totally gonna overrun sony's reign. I've seen what it can do, and what ps2 can do, and gamecube definately overun's ps2 in almost every aspect. Xbox is just gonna be gay, i mean come on, microsoft has no experience in the console gaming market. Its gonna be stupid. The only company and systems ill ever love forever is nintendo. Nobody can change my mind, i hate all other systems except for nintendo brand. Because as all nintendo fans know, mario can totally whip crash bandicoot, lara croft, and any other playstation mascot, to crappy old cream. Nintendo TOP, everything else BELOW BOTTOM. Goodnight.

Baby, You Said It Right One More Time!!! and Opps! This topic's here again, I'm getting bored!!!. Ok, here's something. The colour of the graphics by PS2 only looks nice in a Sony WEGA television. On other televisions, it looks somewhat like 256 colours. I saw this in my friend's house. He is a rich guy.

I am the one who said to be the fanboy, Nintendo gamecube rocks bigtime and it has this time 3rd party support and lots of it. It also has metroid, man I loved that game on the snes it was one of the best ever made.

I dont really care about square any more as a major thing, FF7 was one of the best games I ever played, FF8 was one of the worst and ff9 was ok, square wont release anything on a par with ff7 for a while and even then I'll get it on the PC as they have confirmed it for 11 & 12 and maybe 10 (hopefully). Also has the PS2 got Zelda, Mario, , Metroid, Pokemon(horrible but guaranteed to sell) - No It doesnt and the PS2 has few exclusives left even square have hinted at becoming cross platform

So until the PS2 gets some original , good games I'll stick with Nintendo who I know I can trust.

FF1, 2, and 3 are being ported to WonderSwan Color. I read somewhere that they're looking for a color, portable handheld system to port FF4, 5, and 6 to (if they did it on WonderSwan they'd lose graphic colors and stuff).
The only alternative currently looks like GBA... I wonder if they'd do that?

Wonderswan is a colour handheld made by bandai (correct?) its out in japan and will soon be out here, sqaure soft are releasing FF1,2,3 (jap number system) on the Wonderswan.
