Releases / Re: [FF7PC-98/Steam] New Threat Mod (v2.0.9996)
« on: 2023-09-20 08:20:14 »
Is there another link for the manual? The link in post 2 of this thread seems to be down, and I'm going back to a playthrough after a break, and can't remember what half the character abilities are, like Yuffie's Throwlette I'm seeing mentioned in battle.

Bootleg Questions / Problem with first Yuffie fight?
« on: 2015-07-09 08:07:10 »
So, I just started a game, and left the cave with the Midgar zolom, so I can continue past the story. I run into Yuffie, get off my first attack then.... Nothing. Game's not frozen,a s I can still pause, and do the run away animation, but nothing happens with Yuffie. She's just standing there, her shuriken jittering all over her arm. It's like her turn comes up, and then she does nothing. HALP.

Graphical / Final Fantasy III?
« on: 2014-08-31 06:16:20 »
Hey, just wondering if anyone's made any Final Fantasy III mods. I know VII gets all the love, but since we now have 3 main FF games on PC(I REALLY hope we get the 3d remake of IV!), if anyone took a whack at modding III?

Hey, do we know if these work with the new Steam release?

5
Sorry for being so late with this fix, but here it is: The previous Remastered FF7 OST, fixed up for this Re-Release, with looping and all.

http://www.gamefront.com/files/22151425/FF7+OST+Remastered+Ogg+Fix+v2.rar

the file is currently unavailable.

No, a rip from a damaged disc will typically contain the same errors as the disc itself. I don't know why e1sunz thought that would work.

I had a feeling that would happen. Still, worth a shot! Am I right in thinking my error is from a scratch in my disc, or has this happened before for other people?

7
Make an ISO out of your discs, simples :) or you could download another legit Disc 1 from torrents

Would that really work, with my disc being scratched, though?

UPDATE: So, I made an ISO out of my disc 1, using Daemon Tools, and I'm running into the same issue. Right after you're captured by ShinRa, and you see Sephiroth's blood trail in the building, I get into a random encounter. No problem. But then, if I get into another random encounter, the screen blacks, and I hear the music, but no screen ever comes up, and no sounds happen, except for the battle music. If I alt-tab out, I get a CtD...

8
So... quick question. My disc 1 is really scratched, and I keep freezing in the Shinra HQ. How do I use Black Chocobo to simply advance past this part? the User Guide didn't help me...

I mean, I went to the Game Progress tab and everything, but that long checklist of things I've done, only goes down to the Sector 7 Plate falling...

9
I got UMI working, just gotta remember that, when installing, the installer automatically adds a"New Folder" to the end of whatever directory you set it to, so just delete that before actually installing, and you're good to go!

10
Yeah, that's why I grabbed it, because the first post said it worked. But yeah, I'm not getting anything. Not FFX save points, not PRP models in world or battle, nothing :(

11
So, I installed the Unified Model Installer, and apparently it installed no issue, using your custom mix, but nothing actually shows up in-game. Is this an issue with the installer, or does it also require aali's driver?

12
No graphical mods? Or aali's driver? Or your sweet menu overhaul?

Well, looks like i'll still with my oldie :P

Eh, given time, and some work, I'm sure a lot of the big mods can be modified to work with this new release.

13
You know, I was hoping this new version of FF7 would just remove a lot of the hassle of getting FF7 to work on a modern PC. Which is does, to be fair. However, all these changes making some of these great mods not work? Man, S-E really dropped the ball. Still, I hope some of you guys can think up some workarounds for some of the things. Especially the graphics!

14
Which ones? Where would I find out? I've been out of the loop for years...

15
Well, the good news is that you can now finally buy a digital copy for $10 ($12 after promo ends) off the official site, but I have no clue if this works with the mods on here...

16
So, I did a fresh FF7 install, then put the addons in the exact order you mentioned, and... nothing. Avalanche installed okay. But Game sticks int he black screen. This time though, there's no APP file. At all.

17
So I installed Avalanche high res and the new GUI, and the game still doesn't boot. I made my Opengl.cfg closer to yours, and told it that the modpath was avalanche. Currently re-downloading Remix to make sure it all DLed correctly. However... My APP file actually filled out this time! Here it be:

EDIT: SO, I finished DLing Remix again, and the modpath didn't show avalanche, so I put the latest version of Aali's custom driver back on, then tried to reinstall Avalanche. Well, Avalanche says I don't have Aali's driver at all, now... If I do a fresh install, is there a specific order I should apply everything? Do I have to delete the registry entry while uninstalling? Because I'm unsure how to remove it...

18
So, I installed Remix and the latest version of Aali's driver. There was nothing listing in the Opengl.cfg towards Avalanche. I don't know if I posted it before, but my resolution is 1366x768, this laptop's highest. I reduced it to 1280c768, didn't change anything. Although now, the game goes full screen and then just stops. No Eidos logo or anything. APP file still blank.

19
Well, I HAD it working a day or so ago... I had issues with it working a day or so ago until I got the TrueMotion codec. Then I had added Aali's mod and, while I didn't see much of a graphical improvement like some people were talking about, I knew it was working thanks to the see through text boxes and the like. I honestly don't know what's causing it now...

Just for the heck of it, I'm putting Remix on FF7 again, just to see what happens, and if things go well, I'll put my FF7opengl.cfg the way yours is.

Edit: So, while Remix was installing, it specifically said: "Cannot create ff7.exe." and "Cannot create FF7Config.exe"...Recommended I do a full reboot and try again. Alas, tis time for me to head to bed, as I work tomorrow, but I'll shut down this laptop and restart in the morning and see how things go.

20
So I just did a clean install of FF7. (can't find the codec to remove it, how do I do that? Windows had instructions on how to find out through Windows Media Player, and I didn't see it on that list...) Anyways. Small black box in the corner, immediate shutdown. That's it. APP file is totally blank.

21
So, I did a clean install of FF7, followed by Remix. FFmusic pops up and I set it to Mp3(remixed) and try to start the game. I get a quick black box in the corner, and then FF7 shuts down, leaving FFMusic up.

I'm on:
Windows Vista 32 bit Home, UAC disabled.
Dual-Core AMD Athlon X2 QL-62 2Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 8200 MG

I do have Truemotion 2.0 codecs installed.

I HAD FF7 plus Avalanche High-Res and aali's driver, then installed Remix, but the music was messing up. I'd get the reactor music in battle, then randomly get the fanfare to play on time. I thought a clean install with remix would help, but apparently not... Does it matter that I didn't patch to 1.02 before installing Remix???

Edit: I just tried starting it up from the Start menu, instead of the desktop shortcut. FFMusic opens up, FF7 tries to start, then it all shuts down.

I don't know many forum tags, but here's my APP log:
